If the lead can be separated from the appliance then they are considered separate items. By law, they must be tested as separate items. Example a computer system made up of separate items such as a monitor, base unit and 2 power leads, is tested as 4 items.... a kettle with a separate base is tested as 2 items. powerboards, regardless of the number of outlets, are tested as 1 item.
