24.01.2022 We are back!!!! Monday night training

23.01.2022 Over this summer 1.5 million hectares has been burnt in Victoria and today the last of the significant fires - the Snowy Complex fire, was declared contained. W...hat does 'contained' mean? Firefighters have stopped the fire from spreading but it is still actively burning and crews are continuing work to manage it. Keep a close watch on emergency warnings and advice via Vic Emergency. Well done to all our crews and emergency services colleagues on the incredible work this fire season! : Scott Gordon

22.01.2022 We had a fantastic public turn out to our last Community Fire Information session that we are hosting another one. Sunday 2nd February at the Taggerty Fire Brigade. Please join us.

22.01.2022 Very strong and gusty winds tomorrow with temperatures into the 30’s. Even with the recent rain grass will dry and carry fire tomorrow so please don’t be complacent.

22.01.2022 On this day we celebrate #Internationalwomensday2020 An opportunity to shout out to all members of the #Taggertyfirebrigade but today we want to highlight our amazing women members and the diversity of roles they all contribute to the success of our brigade. Some of our women have seen many years around the brigade. Pat Edwards is coming up to 35 years, Ethel Leary 34 years, Jenny Robinson close to 20 years and Joan Tregea 15 years; a wonderful achievement for all. ... Our women contribute to the brigade in every area, contributing to every aspect of the successful operation of our brigade. From secretary, treasurer and auxiliary to active firefighters, our ladies stand strong and supported beside our male members contributing to the awesome community we have at the Taggerty Fire Brigade. Standing strong, together and celebrated. Happy International Woman’s Day 2020 ladies, the brigade could not have done it without you all.

22.01.2022 This International Firefighter's Day, we reflect and honour the commitment, dedication and hard work of all CFA people and the broader firefighting community. W...e remember the 79 CFA members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. We show gratitude for those who travelled interstate and internationally to fight unprecedented fires not only in Victoria, but across the country and pay respect for the nine who lost their lives in the 2019/2020 Australian fires, their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

21.01.2022 This is Peter. He is our ‘M’. His engineering brain constantly invents things to make our brigade run smoothly. His latest work is the holder for our lightsabers but he is most famous for the hose winding machine which has an attachment for a ‘butterfly wind’. This allows hoses to be carried through challenging terrain without getting tangled. Genius.

20.01.2022 Time to prepare your property and revisit your fire plan in time for Summer. The best plan is to prepare your property as a matter of course each year. Don’t worry about a wet Spring or Winter. A lot can change between now and February so take the chance to plan and prepare whilst there is time.

20.01.2022 Thanks for the mention SES Marysville and a tip of the hat to all volunteers who make our community such a great place to live.

11.01.2022 A friendly reminder now people are starting to burn off, how quickly a situation can escalate. Taggerty, Buxton and Thornton brigades attended a grass fire today when a small fire tidying up on a property quickly took hold after some leaves were thrown into the fire and embers blew into grass and started another fire. Stay safe when you are burning off, have some water handy and know what weather conditions are doing.

03.01.2022 During and following the 2019/20 fire season, $25 million was donated to CFA. $4.8 million of these donations were allocated to one of CFA’s four programs to di...stribute donations a tools and equipment ‘District Pick List’. The 11,000 items distributed to 95% of CFA’s 1200 brigades from this list will help us protect our communities across the state. To everyone who donated to CFA thank you.

03.01.2022 Taggerty Fire brigade members were out and about tonight practicing fire hydrant techniques and hazardous tree identification. If this summer has stirred any interest for you to join the CFA, we meet on the first Monday of the month and currently every Sunday morning. Please PM us for further information or pop down to the station and say hi. New members are always welcome.

03.01.2022 Just because you can burn off doesn’t mean you should. Taggerty CFA had their third call out this week today for a burn off out of control. The fire burnt around 1/4 acre of grass along the river flats north of town. Fire restrictions come in overnight Sunday this weekend, 1 am Monday 7th December. The weather is forecast to be warm (26 degrees) and very windy on Saturday so please be very careful with any final burn offs you plan to do and consider the conditions before you light up. Stay safe and here’s to a quiet fire season.

02.01.2022 This year for the first time, CFA members were invited to march in the Moomba Parade. Members nominated to participate and after approval were excited to be part of this Melbourne institution. Family were also encouraged to take part. Taggerty had 3 members attend today. Sandice McAulay, Ray Goss and Kellie Fielder. ... Melbourne turned on the weather, and the crowds were out in force, it was awesome. The CFA certainly received a wave of applause as we marched through the route. It was a humbling experience and great to see and feel the appreciation, acknowledgement, support and positive reputation in the Victorian community.
