20.01.2022 Very proud of the club’s under-12 teams so far. Both teams have finished the first part of the season losing only 1 game each and the improvement they’ve shown has been outstanding It’s awesome seeing so many kids (boys and girls) running around in club colours each week with big smiles on their faces enjoying the game of cricket. Again a special thanks to the coaches who do an amazing job teaching the kids each week at training and matches. Craig Templeton (gold) and Jon T...onissen and Leigh Ewing (Blue) have done a super job and the club is extremely grateful to them for coaching the teams this season. The under-12’s have a break now until February next year when they’ll resume with a few more games to finish the season. Well done you little champions

20.01.2022 What a day for our great little club... B Grade go bang to defeat St Andrews by 72 runs; D Grade go bang to defeat St Andrews by 32 runs;... Under-14’s go bang to defeat St Andrews by 134 runs; Awesome effort by everyone and the club is super proud of today’s efforts- especially the under-14’s who are going from strength to strength. Full match reports will be up tomorrow #UpTheBlueCaps

19.01.2022 Announcement.... HAMILTON District Cricket Association has announced the individual award winners for the recently completed season. B Grade all-rounder Marcus Rhook has won the B Grade most valuable player award. Marcus had a consistent season with both bat and ball and winning this award is a great acknowledgement for all his hard work - both during the home and away season and at training.... Marcus has also been a great contributor to the club off the field helping out with functions, playing Santa Claus at the club’s Christmas party and helping out with BBQ’s (mainly eating them ). And in D Grade Colin Myers was awarded the most valuable player award for the association. Rowdy has been a very loyal Tahara person for many years and has again enjoyed a very consistent season. Rowdy is a very strong role model for the club’s younger players and the experience they gain by playing with and being taught by Rowdy is invaluable. Rowdy was also the coach of one of the club’s under-12 teams and the club is super appreciative of all his efforts and hard work - not only this season but for previous years as well. The club is very proud and well done to both of you

18.01.2022 A big shout out to all the mothers today on their special day. The mothers make a huge contribution around the club- both on match day and during the week. Hope all the players (both junior and senior) are spoiling their mothers today and giving them a little a rest. Well done mums

18.01.2022 Hope everyone is keeping well- hopefully this virus environment is on the improve with restrictions starting to be lifted!!! One of our club beanies snuck out of Isolation in Turkey today for a bit of fresh air!! Spare a thought for Pauley who’s been in full lockdown in Istanbul for 9 weeks now and over there he’s not allowed out of his apartment on the weekend. Old mate Pauley loves a selfie and this one was taken on one of Istanbul’s busiest streets!! ... At least we can still sneak around out here and enjoy some fresh Tahara air. Stay safe everyone

10.01.2022 How good is a Sunday after 3 big victories over the arch rival St Andrews- B Grade, D Grade and Under-14’s * Under-14’s- Tahara batted first and reached 6-264 after its 48 overs. Peter Millard was 50 not out, Jack Rhook remained 42 not out while there were good contributions from Levi Templeton (17), Liam Tonissen (17no), Josh Sevior (11no) and Thomas Stockdale (11). Bowling on Saturday and the under-14’s put the screws on the St Andrews batsmen right from the first over w...ith an impressive team display of line and length bowling. Wickets fell at regular intervals and after 39 overs St Andrews were bowled out for 139 giving the junior Blue Caps a big win by 125 runs . * D Grade- Tahara batted first and after 40 overs finished on 3-153. The opening combination of Rowdy and Trav Rhook put on 117 runs in what was a match wining partnership. And there’s about 32 years difference in their ages!! Rowdy made 70, Rhooky chipped in with 26 while Jon Tonissen made a late cameo with 18 in the team’s final total. The bowlers dropped on to a tidy length right from the first over which frustrated the St Andrews batsmen. Picking up wickets at consistent intervals kept the screws right on and the fielding was a very high standard also. Tonno and Joshy Sevior picked up 2 wickets each while single wickets went to Nicko Lambert, Magnet, Jay Hogan and Rowdy. * B Grade- Playing at Melville on a fast outfield, the Blue Caps batted first and got on top of the St Andrews attack early. Some really good partnerships allowed the scoreboard to tick over at 5 and 6 an over consistently throughout the innings. The innings closed after 40 overs with the score on 4-230. Kieren Barker led the way with 53no including a couple of big 6’s while captain Rhook (49), Craig Templeton (46) and Fletcher Wheeler (31) made sure they put up a very competitive score. The Goodman brothers took the new ball and had the St Andrews top order under pressure with some outstanding fast bowling. Big Harry was exceptional finishing with 3-10 from 6.2 overs. Rhooky also chipped in with 3 wickets while Harry Armstrong came on late in the innings to grab 2 wickets in 2 balls. It was an outstanding result for the club in the last round before the Christmas / New Year break. Both senior teams are knocking on the door of the top 4 and B Grade are really starting to get on a roll with 3 victories and a washout from its last 4 games. Enjoy the break lads and come back after the break and hit the 2nd half of the season hard with finals the aim for both B and D Grades. #UpTheBlueCaps

09.01.2022 Teams for this weekend- B Grade v Grampians Marcus Rhook Harold Goodman... Jack Goodman Craig Templeton Zachy Soawyer Harold Armstrong Fletcher Wheeler James Povey Luke Barnes Sam Brewer Brett Holmes Be at Monivae no later than 12.30pm D Grade v Pigeon Ponds Colin Myers Jay Hogan Jon Tonissen Zane McCallum Nick Lambert Johnny Pepper Angus Lambert Jason Spaull Kieren Barker Mason Tooley Paul Barnes Be at Pigeon Ponds by 12.30pm please Go Blue Caps

08.01.2022 Righto Righto.. From the 8 seasons Tahara has had an A Grade side, the results are as follows- Most games- Colin Myers (76), John Pepper (70), Andrew Povey (54), Robbie Murrell (49), Adam Holmes (43), Brett Holmes (41), Keith Northcott (32).... Most runs- Adam Holmes (1138), Keith Northcott (897), Andrew Povey (886), Brett Holmes (807), Colin Myers (781). Most Wickets- Colin Rowdy Myers (101), John Pepper (84), Robbie Murrell (60), Adam Holmes (59), Brett Holmes (56). Well done Tanya Pepper for your guess- as the great Meatloaf said 2 out of 3 ain’t bad Some handy cricketers in those lists.

05.01.2022 What a wonderful night on Monday with the club’s 2 under-12 teams playing against each other at Mitchell Park. The Gold team took to points on this occasion with a narrow 11 run victory giving the Blue team its first loss of the season. But how exciting was it seeing all those Tahara shirts running around with huge smiles on their faces. And the cricketing ability on display- wowee!! There was a sausage sizzle and cold drinks for the kids after the game as a little treat for ...a great effort. With the club’s under-14 team going from strength to strength, its a real credit to our club to have 3 junior teams running around each week and it’s also a credit to the people that have put in a heap of work behind the scenes to make this all happen. Special thanks to the coaches for giving up their time each week for training and matches. And a special thanks to scorers each week- so much easier for the coaches to have plenty of help. And finally a special thanks to Tim Cogger and his team at Fringe Benefits for sponsoring the club’s junior teams this season. #UptheBlueCaps

04.01.2022 Big performance from B Grade yesterday with a thumping 100 run win over top of the ladder College at Melville Oval. And booked a spot in the finals in the process. After losing the toss and bowling first the bowlers turned in an outstanding performance to bowl College out for 107 in 38 overs. Big Jack Goodman was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3-11 from 8 very good overs. Batting wise the Blue Caps finished its 40 overs on 5-208 with a great team performance from the... top 6. Next Saturday sees the B Grade boys take on College at Byaduk for a spot in the B Grade grand final. The club has enjoyed enormous support over the years and next Saturday will be no different so get to Byaduk to cheer the boys on. Bring your chairs, drinks and make some noise!!! D Grade suffered a loss yesterday which means it misses out on finals for this season. Despite no finals action the D Grade boys have enjoyed a very good season and with 7 members of the team under the age of 18 the future is bright. Training will be Thursday night as normal and The BBQ will be on. #UpTheBlueCaps

01.01.2022 Good evening legends Got a bit to get through tonight so apologies for the lengthy post!! The HDCA executive, under advice from Cricket Victoria, have cancelled the grand finals this weekend in all grades as well as the PF Christie dinner. The advice is to also avoid having a club presentation dinner. With that in mind we’ve made the decision to reluctantly postpone the function until a future date. We’ll update the page as things progress....Continue reading
