15.01.2022 To my valued Tai Chi Clients and Friends - It’s time to RETIRE!!! After much consideration of personal events of the last six months as well the impact of COVID-19 and Government restrictions, I have decided to take a big step back from my Fitness and Tai Chi teaching career of some 40 years and step into the world of RETIREMENT. This, very sadly will mean that classes conducted by Tai Chi for Health Gladstone will not resume, despite and in anticipation of further restricti...ons being eased in the future. I will miss our Tai Chi Family, the friendships we’ve made and the fun that we’ve had over the last twelve years, but hope that we stay in touch and that you continue practicing and enjoying your Tai Chi. Thank you so much for your support during the last twelve years and for making Tai Chi for Health in Gladstone, ’beyond’ enjoyable, memorable and rewarding. I wish each of you continued health and happiness. Barbara Holgate Tai Chi for Health Gladstone See more

09.01.2022 PRACTICE REMINDER: Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing recommends a minimum practice time of ten minutes. Why ten minutes? Because within this period you can complete a ...form and at the same time store chi and keep it flowing in the body. The key though is to do this practice every day applying the same consistency that you see in nature. The Tao Teh Ching says that nature moves slowly but in the end, everything is accomplished. Our practice must be the same. Professor says (paraphrasing)-When you practice every day it’s like laying the pages of a book. One page per day but before you know it you have a massive manuscript! A big mistake, and one I’ve fallen prey to as an enthusiastic young beginner, is to train two or three hours a day and then do nothing the following day. Better to do ten minutes every day rather than three hours, once per week. If you want to do hours of training each day then you must build up to it slowly, over time, otherwise you’ll build up an internal mental and physical resistance that makes it hard achieve anything. The best way to accomplish mind-body transformation and receive the benefits of tai chi is to aim for slow, gradual improvement. This is the same for tai chi or anything else in life (work, relationships, diet, etc...) where we desire positive benefit. Best, Morgan See more
