23.01.2022 So.....I have this ratbag chicken who keeps visiting the plant nursery next door & eating their entire lettuce display & wandering around the shop. I have asked the staff not to feed Ginger Rogers, lol, anyone got any bright ideas on keeping her home? Mum suggested I grow the girls their own lettuce/spinach/silver beet/kale....... Funny old chook!

20.01.2022 A busy week here selling sheep and lambs, Rodney has gone, Leelee and Scotty are going with mum to a lovely lady nearby and now I have sold a little ram lamb. Yay. That will make room for the alpacca that I am buying to look after my lovely hens and stop that damn fox coming in.

20.01.2022 Another new lamb today. And I am glad my Vet skills have not been forgotten as we have had one chook with a fish hook stuck thru her wobbly bits, another chook with a broken leg, and a sick ewe needing Vit B injections. Im in my element! :)

19.01.2022 So after a day at work, we get home to find one of the lambs with a 20cm rip on the shoulder. Call me mean, but this little fella is not worth a $400 vet bill. Most of you know that I was a Vet Nurse many years ago, so we sterilised my gear, held him down and 8 stitches later, loaded with antibiotic and iodine, he is good!

14.01.2022 So, the guard alpacas are on duty! Such clever and inquisitive creatures. They created a stir among all the horses and the sheep while they check everything out. They have spent the day trying to make friends with the sheep which is very funny to watch. And so far no sign of the foxes. Yay!

14.01.2022 all stitched up. :)

12.01.2022 Great news, our sick ewe looks better today, I used a super drench & have been giving her daily injections. And our hen with the badly broken leg seems to be on the mend. Nothing like a chook in a cast, lol. 2 new lambs this week too. :-)

09.01.2022 those of you who know me, know I LOVE Bundaberg rum and its fantastic medicinal properties! So, the story goes, last week I get home after work and find one of my huge hens drowned in the trough! OMG, she was taking the last gasps and all. So, we fish her out, and give her a couple of hits of the golden rum. And, it had to be seen to be believed, she is fantastic again. She even laid an egg late that night (rum flavoured of course). So, now it is the medicine of choice for me. Anyway else got a sure fire remedy? :)

08.01.2022 I love seeing who has seen status updates, welcome miss Eliza from be now a early learning centre where my littlies went. Eliza, did you see the giant Blake turned into? And on the news front, the lamb I stitched last night is fantastic, the chicken with the broken leg is mending....I can feel calcification. :-). And my sick ewe ate silver beet and peanuts tonight, both high protein foods. Yay. :-)

07.01.2022 So, here at Taihoa where there is always something happening, the last two nights we have been woken by what sounds like a woman...repeatedly screaming! The first night I thought it was one of the kids having a nightmare. Last night i sent Craig out looking.... We have no neighbours so it was a bit of a mystery. I have done a bit of "research" and think we may have a Barking owl. And, I think he is peed off with my cattle dog for killing an owl a couple of weeks back. So, as retribution, the bastard is screaming...every night!! Just lovely!

05.01.2022 our guard alpacas- Zeno and Jinxy

04.01.2022 Someone has contacted me wanting to buy eggs...now, as most of you know, I give them to friends as I love the idea of giving excess veges & eggs to others. I have never sold eggs! I get about 7 dozen a week.....& they are my gift to friends. Eek, what do I charge?

03.01.2022 Do you have an inspirational mentor? Last year I met an amazing 84 year old sheep farmer. I love going to visit him & his wife. He never stops! Still throwing big ewes around, has an amazingly gorgeous home, even more amazing garden, he builds and creates things all day. I love the"fire" he still has. Today I found him 8 ft up a tree attaching staghorns. If only all young people had someone they aspire to be like, someone successful, hard working, cheerful & sparky, I am sure there would be less deadbeats around. And that, is my words of wisdom for today. :-)

03.01.2022 gardens, stock, the horses, our "green house"

03.01.2022 Today we say goodbye to Rodney the rootin ram who has achieved all his goals at our place and moves on to be a stud for someone else. Happy shaggin Rodders. :)
