24.01.2022 #ISOINSPO 9.0 . . Virtual baking / cooking class ... . . Food is fundamental for survival. We need to meet our nutritional requirements not just to survive but to also thrive. Food is also a vessel for ritual and culture, for some it can bring great pleasure. . . I made (with help) some Greek shortbreads called kourebeides. These mouth watering, roof of your mouth sticking delights connect me to my cultural heritage and moments in time; Easter, Christmas and sharing with those dear to me. . . Passing on my yiayias (grandma) recipe brings great joy and excitement that this ritual wont be lost. There is also something meditative about baking and teaching simultaneously over video; you are fully immersed in the process. These short bread are so easy to eat; I now have a newfound appreciation for the work that goes into making these icing sugar coated bits of goodness. . . During this time period (especially) it is important to eat nutritiously dense yet, the odd bit of comfort food can also sooth us, allowing us to feel safe and loved. . . What foods bring you comfort and connection? . . /Sam . . Tailored Osteopathy: together, riding the wave (curve). See more

23.01.2022 CORONA VIRUS Corona virus (COVID-19) has been declared a pandemic by World Health Organisation (WHO). .... . A pandemic denotes the geographic spread of the virus and does not change the characteristics of the virus itself. . . What we know: The coronavirus is most likely to spread from person-to-person through: direct close contact with a person while they are infectious close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face. . . Practising good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against most viruses. You should: wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser and if unwell, avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 metres from people). . . 22.01.2022 Niksen. . Literally translates to ‘doing nothing’, it is the practice of being idle and/or doing an activity without purpose. . .... Why is this important? To help our brains process, to give space to solving complex problems. It helps to curtail burnout, allows us to slow down and reduce a pressured mind and gives time for rejuvenation. All helpful in improving immunity, emotionality and our quality of life. Curious? For your eyes: https://www.google.com.au//5622/what-is-niksen/%3famp=true . . 22.01.2022 #ISOINSPO 8.0 I sure do love a stroll. I also do love a little healthy competition. . .... On my hour walk, my chosen walking partner and I play a game. The game goes as follows: We pick a theme; places (countries, cities, suburbs) or food/beverage. . . The rules are: you start with a word, the last letter of that word indicates the next word. For example, theme = places, word = #Newport, next word = #Tasmania and the game continues. . . You access the entire catalogue of your brain, drawing on previous memories of places youve visited/ foods eaten, holidays youve had, places still unexplored and connections to people. . . You have to think on your feet (literally) and sometimes during the game there is a digression: sharing a travel tale or fond food experience. . . As Plato says, life should be lived as play.... and according to the National Institute of Play, the existing research...explains how play shapes our brains, creates our competencies, and ballasts our emotions. Given the current climate, we can all do with a little more play. . . /Sam . . 14.01.2022 #ISOINSPO 5.0 . . Taking a leap. Jumping into the deep end. Venturing into the unknown. .... . 14.01.2022 It is important as a community that we are both vigilant and sensible but not hysterical regarding current events. We are taking some of the following precautions: - Extra cleaning of equipment and high traffic areas within the clinic - The removal of magazines from reception... - Hand sanitiser in reception We ask you to exercise some common sense and curiosity of the unprecedented events unfolding. In return, can you: - Please use the hand sanitiser provided in reception / wash your hands before your consult - If you are experiencing symptoms of a virus (sore throat, headache, fever etc) or have been overseas prior to March 16 please cancel your appointment. We will happily cancel / reschedule your appointment sans a cancellation fee - Look after your immune system: a nutritiously dense diet, slow the stress and rest Currently best practice includes: - Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds or more with soap and water - Use those elbows when sneezing - Maintain distance from people 1.5m - Decrease time spent in populated dense areas, or time with people more susceptible to illness (elderly, immuno- compromised) and staying home where you can - social distancing Understandably, this can be a distressing time. Naturally as humans we are wired for connection. This is where technology can be handy; phones calls/video calls and group video games, or do as the Italians do - a neighbourhood singalong. This is also an opportunity to slow down from the relentless pace of our lives; read, play music, indulge in the space for innovative thought, play board games, cook and create.
