24.01.2022 Andalusia in the south of Spain is one of those must-see destinations that you just need to walk through to appreciate. We only have two vacant spots on our Andalusian Coast to Coast Walk the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. Yes, it’s a walking holiday but it’s also about enjoying the culture, the food and the history of this unique area in Spain. Interested? Just click on this link for all the details https://takeawalk.com.au/guided-walking-ho/andalusia-spain/

23.01.2022 Looking for a good walk coming out of isolation. This is an ideal time to complete the fabulous Green Gully Track, a ‘hut to hut’ walk in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, near Armidale, NSW. This walk attracts heaps of people every year so bookings are essential. You’ll get to spend every night in a hut the middle hut even has a hot shower. Luxury! By bushwalking standards anyway. If you are keen to do this walk, just go to our website, shoot us an email and we’ll send you the track notes and sketch maps. Happy walking. John and Lyn www.takeawalk.com.au

23.01.2022 After a balloon flight over the Serengeti and an ultralight over Victoria Falls the next best thing was a glider flight from Boonah taking in the sights of the Scenic Rim. It was great to have an aerial view of all the peaks we have climbed over the years.

23.01.2022 After a 6am start this morning we managed to complete the Mt Mathieson circuit before it got too hot. The hydrotherapy pool is looking good now

21.01.2022 This is a good reminder on how to treat snake bite

20.01.2022 Come with us to Canada in July. Sit on a ledge overlooking Yoho National Park and try to restrict yourself to just one picture! Interested? 20.01.2022 We are still getting lots’ of enquiries about the three stages of the Australian Alps Walking Track, so we have put several photo’s from the first stage of the track on our website. That’s 235km from Walhalla to Mt Hotham. We will add pics for the next two stages over the next week or so. Just go to the AAWT page ( https://takeawalk.com.au/australian-alps-walking-track/ ) and click the Walhalla to Mt Hotham link.

19.01.2022 When you are planning your AAWT trek, just keep in mind there is some discrepancy about the total distance of the track. The ‘official’ distance is generally stated as 650km. Our friends John and Monica Chapman say it’s 659.6km, and we reckon it’s 671.8km. Both books are in pretty much in sync until the start of our Stage 3 at Dead Horse Gap, but after checking the whole route with GPS and our topo map software, we reckon our distances are spot on. But at the end of 42 days, if you follow our itinerary, the extra 10km should not cause you any grief. Happy planning. Hopefully the route will all be reopened soon.

16.01.2022 Not sure where to find these magnificent Antarctic beech trees. Just grab a copy of Take A Walk in South East Queensland and head up to Lamington National Park. Check out the walk on page 224 before you go.

13.01.2022 We have just added images of our walk on stage three of the AAWT Thredbo to Tharwa Visitor Centre, Canberra. https://takeawalk.com.au/australian-alps-walking-track/ Many sections of the track are still closed after the fires, but you can still start thinking about your preparation for the best long-distance walk in Australia. You won’t be sorry! Track notes for the complete track are available in Take A Walk in Kosciuszko National Park.

04.01.2022 Have you ever had the sole fall off your hiking boots? Chances are that the boots had a polyurethane moulded sole and you hadn’t worn the boots much at all. That sounds a bit counter intuitive but if you leave your boots in a shoe-box, or in cupboard for months at a time, there’s a good chance that a chemical process called hydrolysis will cause the soles to disintegrate. This problem occurs with many expensive, well known brands so it’s not a cheapness issue. If you wear you...r boots regularly, the problem is less likely to occur. So, if you are planning to join one of our Take A Walk Adventures walking holidays (or set out on a multi-day hike in Australia) and your boots are more than four to five years old, you should replace them. So, don’t buy two pairs of boots at a sale and leave one pair in the cupboard until the first pair wears out. Chances are that the second pair will wear out without ever being worn. Cheers John & Lyn See more

03.01.2022 It’s great to see so much water at The Junction in Girraween National Park. Underground River was raging
