Using a MHCP, you can obtain Medicare rebates for seeing a psychologist for 10 sessions per calendar year. On the other hand, if you wish to see a psychiatrist, your GP would then need to prepare a referral. This referral would enable you to obtain Medicare rebates for your psychiatry fees.
