25.01.2022 We would love to introduce our newest REFERRAL REWARD PROGRAM! One of the things that makes our job so special and enjoyable is working with amazing clients and being able to provide a life changing and unforgettable services to pet owners Australia wide! With word of mouth being the BIGGEST reason our business is booked out months in advance, we wanted to acknowledge the people who spread the word about our services.... There is nothing that makes our staff jump for joy more than hearing a new client has been recommended by a friend, family member. colleague or Facebook group! As a result, it’s much easier for us to establish an unforgettable relationship with both the new client and the exisiting client! In fact, referrals are such a huge part of our growth, that we have decided to create a referral reward program. Refer a friend and as a token of our appreciation, receive a $40 credit on your account! Your friend MUST mention your name at the time of booking for the credit to be applied to your account. The credit can be used for ANY boarding service, stay and learn service or daycare service. ** It does not apply to private 1:1 training, or day training/assessments.

We have decided to change the day from THIS FRIDAY to NEXT MONDAY 30th OF NOVEMBER! We have automatically changed your bookings to this date, but we do understand that you may all not be able to make it, so please pop through a cancellation request if that is the case.... 23.01.2022 5-week Extensive Behavioural Mod Camper, Belle! Belle has been a client for a while after her guardian took her on from an average situation. Alex did not have any influence over the first part of her life and that has led to a lot of behaviours that could have easily been prevented, but now Alex is working hard to make Belle the relaxed, easy going pup she knows she can be. Belle suffers from OCD behaviours (obsessive compulsive disorder) which displays in ways such as m...ainly pacing - the yard, her crate, the house and more! Belle also suffers with lack of confidence due to lack of exposure in her critical development periods. When things become scary or the world becomes unpredictable, the OCD arises. This is only present in the home. Belle has also suffered with resource guarding of her guardian from other people and other dogs. Although, there is no quick fix to this behaviour, the stay and learn has offered Belle controlled exposure to other dogs, controlled interactions, intensive confidence building and exposure, proofing obedience and introducing her to things that are potential triggers. We have been managing her crate behaviour and trying to prevent crate regression which has shown to occur with no in particular trigger. Belle left for home today to start her adventure again with Alex, but as this is a behaviour that needs continual management and training, we will always be here to support her. Belle thrives off of having clear direction, boundaries and structure and Alex is more than happy to do what she can for Belle to ensure she lives life as much as possible!

23.01.2022 This handsome chap is Rigby... or more commonly known as Riggo, Rigs, Riggy, rigboy and the list goes on Rigby went home yesterday after spending 2-weeks with our trainers working on some typical pushy male Rottweiler behaviour. Rigby’s guardians wanted to work on improving his basic obedience, his overall listening skills, his leash manners, his impulse control and his dog to dog socialisation. ... Rigby is a very smart dog who loves to have a job to do. He thrives off of guidance, structure and routine and this shone throughout his training journey at our facility. Rigby has dedicated guardians who are willing to maintain his training plan and keep up with all the hard work we put in!

22.01.2022 A day of fun in the sun for our boarding, daycare and rescue dogs!

22.01.2022 Your dogs food was proudly brought to you by MARLEY! If only he lifted it in for us too

21.01.2022 As many of you know, our team is small yet dedicated to providing you and your fury friend with the best service we can provide. We have a few things we would like to tell our beautiful Facebook community. BOOKED OUT FOR STAY AND LEARN UNTIL FEBRUARY 2021...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Just a few of our happy campers over the October long weekend. I think we will have some very tired pooches at home tonight We hope everyone had an amazing weekend away. Our team did such a great job caring for your dogs this weekend, and they all worked so well together

21.01.2022 By enrolling your puppy into one of our PUPPY PACKAGES whether it’s a Stay and Learn, Day Train, Consultation... It is a critical step into your dogs development! Today, we are working with Archie and Coco - two little ACD dogs from same families but different households. Today, we are working on marker acquisition, leash pressure systems and appropriate socialisation with balanced dogs, respectful children and a$$hole cats ... We have seen some mild fear based behaviour towards other dogs from Coco and some chasing wheels from her too. We will be helping them over the coming weeks develop into well balanced and well rounded dogs. We can’t wait to watch them develop and grow!

21.01.2022 A field trip for Blossom, Jax and Bosco Gawler Main Street, Gawler South Oval and School a pick up. What stars! Hit up our Instagram and Facebook stories to see what we got up too!

20.01.2022 We don’t just train BIG dogs... Check out these CUTIES! Klaus and Greta are two VERY cute Miniature Poodles who were had for a 10-day package. Recently, their lovely guardians welcomes their very own human child into the home. There were a few problematic behaviours that they wanted to get ontop of so we worked on some place training, crate training, basic obedience, leash pressure and confidence. Greta can be a bit nervous and gets overwhelmed easily, whereas Klaus can ...be a bit more chilled and relaxed. These two were so clever and willing to train. We loved working with them and cannot wait to see how they go back home!

19.01.2022 There are literally NO words to describe how eternally grateful I am for you, Arlee. Thinking about how much you have been through with me makes me emotional so let’s keep this light Happy 9th birthday to my best pal

19.01.2022 Handsome Henry went home today after a 3-week stay and learn. This little man is absolutely addicted to human attention and demands it 24/7. Affection is like a drug to him. Due to his level of arousal with touch and even sometimes just a simple look in his direction, this developed into anxiety. His guardian was feeling lost with just how to approach this, and in all honesty - the three weeks of Stay and Learn was just the tip of the iceberg. Between providing Henry with ap...propriate outlets for his energy through play, slatmill, treadmill, and relationship games, along with conditioning him to relax with place and crate, correct leash communication to calm him in times of over arousal, we are on the right path to a much healthier mindset. Henry will be a regular visitor here and we cannot wait to help his family on this crazy dog training journey!

18.01.2022 Did you know that we specialise in boarding fearful and reactive dogs? Our facility is more like a second home for dogs rather than a boarding facility. For dogs like Luna, who are away from their family and her other canine companion who unfortunately had to have surgery last week, boarding can be an overwhelming process. Luna is quite a nervous girl but our staff are fully equipped to provide your canine companions with the confidence and care they deserve. ... Here is owner Aimee spending quality time with Luna today to really help build a bond and a relationship. Our goal is for the dogs to build trust in us so we can enrich her stay to the best of our ability! To provide that real farm experience. You’re doing such a good job Luna!

17.01.2022 Thank-you to everyone who came to Greta’s first birthday! It was a barking success! We have some very tired dogs and humans at our facility tonight! It was non stop fun today and I expect a few of our guests do have a 2-day farm hangover! We can’t wait to see you all again soon!

17.01.2022 Client feedback Just had to let you know I took barley to the vets this afternoon they couldn't believe how good she was and she followed every instruction I gave her. They said it's the best training they have seen for a long time in a puppy especially a German Shepherd.... I told them I couldn't take the credit it's thanks to you guys that she's turned out the way she is. Thanks heaps Aimee, Zoe and all the take the lead team. The best decision we made was doing a board and train for Barley with you when she was younger and doggy daycare visits have been amazing. We can't do it without your help and guidance. Thank you

16.01.2022 Welcome ARCHIE Four week Behaviour Rehab Camp Archie is a 3 year old male German Shepherd and the owners came to us for help as a last resort. His behaviours have become very serious and this includes dog aggression, jumping up, serious destructiveness, reactivity towards children and an inability to settle with an anxious demeanour all the time. They have described him as unmanageable and hard to train.... Archie’s owners reached out in desperation. They needed help and thankfully were patient enough until we could fit him in. Over the course of the coming days, Archie is going to be working through our foundation program which will include: marker systems, leash pressure and communication, basic obedience, appropriate outlets for energy and drives, place and crate training. We will be providing him with routine, structure and leadership. Archie will then start to move towards working around other dogs, kids and people along with multiple field trips out in public once we have a better handle on his behaviours. He worked around Arlee and the cat today - check out our Instagram stories. His family were amazed at this transformation in just 2 short days. Follow our Instagram posts for daily videos of what we do behind the scenes!

15.01.2022 Today was a SAD day! We work with a lot of defence families and their dogs become our family! Anyone who comes to daycare knows Onyx, and his sister Indy! Today, they left on their journey interstate after a boarding stay here. All the staff had some serious cuddles, ball throws and a cry when we locked and loaded them onto transport this morning.... We wish you both and your human family all the best. This is not goodbye, but see you again soon!

14.01.2022 Wow, time goes fast! Mia went home today after spending 4-week in our Stay and Learn Behavioural Mod camp! When Mia's guardian started taking note of some serious behaviour concerns such as increasing human aggression and dog to dog aggression, she knew it was time to sought help from the professionals. Mia's mum describes her as a general anxious dog so most of her responses were coming through lack of confidence. Mia's mum had set some great foundations from basic obedienc...e to muzzle training and everything in between but she needed some guidance with these unwanted behaviours that were creeping up. Throughout Mia's stay and learn, we exposed her to a variety of different things such as new people, environments, dogs, sounds, textures and much more! We worked her through structured dog to dog socialisation sessions as part of her pack rehab with our balanced dogs and taught her about impulse control. A big part of Mia's success will be her mum having some faith in her abilities to handle Mia now. With some small fine tuning to their training plan, and explanations/demonstrations on how to handle her when unwanted situations arise, we were able to gain confidence in both the dog and handler. Mia went home a less anxious dog who now loves her new routine and structure. We have implemented crate training as a new management tool to assist with generalised anxiety around new people in the home and to help her have her safe place to go when she is feeling overwhelmed. We will continue to support Mia and her guardian who will be coming out fortnightly to make sure that everything is going to plan and continuing to help Mia develop into a happy, go lucky kind of girl. Thanks for letting us spend so much time with her, we created such a beautiful relationship with her (even if she does do a sneaky lick in my ear).

14.01.2022 Dash, the 3 year old Schnoodle is here with our team smashing his 3-week basic problem stay and learn! Dash has a bite history and has a history of anxious behaviours in the home. He frets when things change around him, including triggers of people coming and going. These things are unpredictable for Dash and when working with problematic behaviours, we need clear communication, predictability and as I always say, routine, structure and accountability. Teaching your dog to do... NOTHING, by and large, is one of the most beneficial things you can do for him. Every dog knows how to be ON. But most, by and large, are incapable of turning OFF. Living in an endless cycle of hyper-alertness: always on edge, anxious, stressed, overcome by overwhelm. Just a dog being a dog, right? Hear something, act correspondingly... Uhh, no. A dog always fretting on your walks, incessantly barking at a noise your house just made, when going for a car ride, or simply transitioning from one area of the house to another, isn’t overjoyedhe’s clearly incapable of self-regulating, processing, and coping with the unpredictable. In this unhealthy state of mind, it is nearly impossible for dogs to listen or make good choices. They’re bouncing off of their triggers, and acting without any self-awareness. Flaky, edgy, barky, overreactive. So what do you do? Teach your dog a non-negotiable Place Command. Imagine yourself in this situationconcentrating on stillness: quiet, reserved, peaceful, motionless meditation. When this command becomes non-negotiablemeaning, no matter what, your dog cannot come off without your say sohe has no other choice but to just relax into the command. When implemented, stress begins to fade, and your dog develops a new default to the triggers that bothered them before. All of those previous issues you were battling are no longer a big deal. Dog mediation ... it most certainly works miracles! - Credit Heather Arthur

13.01.2022 Welcome HOWARD Howard joined our Take the Lead team when his guardians opted to start a 1:1 consultation with Allison a few months back. We witnessed an extremely fearful dog who struggled with daily triggers. He was adopted through a rescue organisation at 5 months of age. He is now only 12 months old. His guardians have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND . We have seen Howard for a day train recently to address some fear based behaviour towards kids and the change from then to now... is like a full 360! Hats off to these dedicated humans Now, we are seeing Howard for a 2-week stay and learn package to really dive into controlled socialisation, exposure and to work around a variety of controlled stimuli with experienced handlers. WhT a privilege! It has been a pleasure to watch Howard’s progress now, and we cannot wait to see what his family are able to do with him post Stay and Learn!

12.01.2022 Lest we forget! #remembranceday #dogsofwar

12.01.2022 Happy HUMP day!

10.01.2022 Thank-you Taylor for trusting us with Enzo, your pride and joy! And thank-you for your amazing review I’ve been meaning to leave a review for a while now since Enzo returned from his 3 week stay and learn package but honestly I’ve struggled to find the words to describe just how much Aimee & the girls have done for me and my baby boy! Enzo is the light of my life and the thought alone of giving him up for 3 weeks (mind you everyone saying your dog can’t be trained without... you there ) was killing me! But boy did he need it along with that there is nobody else I would trust with my dog other than Aimee. Enzo is extremely reactive to people and dogs, he’s very protective of me and I am extremely attached to him. I came to Aimee wanting a calmer dog a dog that I could trust! I needed to learn to read when he was alerted by another dog or person. I also needed to learn that he is ok without me but that I am in control of him and his behaviour. I now have a dog that I can confidently walk beside me, that I can see and read his trigger points before he can, that I can put into a sit or a down to stop him from going crazy at something in front of him and have his focus back onto me. I’ve got a dog that’s mastering the art of doing nothing, I understand his leash pressure like the back of my hand and I know to stay calm when dogs/people are approaching watch my dogs reaction and act accordingly. Although the most important lesson I have gotten out of this is that it’s ok... it’s ok to have moments were you feel like you’ve failed your dogs training, it all comes down to fine tuning and re visiting what I’ve learnt before, practice makes perfect! I know it seems far fetched how much can really change in a couple of weeks? But I promise you that every single day since having Enzo back he has shown signs of improvement and a lot of that has come from me. Aimee goes through at the pick up what he has learnt, what she picked up in terms of reactivity etc and that’s what you take with you, that’s how your dog improves. We will never have a dog I can tie to a pole and go and grab a coffee (he’s a Belgian shepherd so that’s a given! Haha) but I’ve got a dog that is well mannered, knows that his owner is that, his owner!, has fantastic obedience and has the most beautiful loving nature towards those that he trusts and I trust. So Aimee, from the bottom of my heart Thank you. Everyday I walk him and I think of you and what you’ve achieve for us both and I smile, Enzo also seems to be a lot more smiley haha!

09.01.2022 Ruin and Echo are both taking part in our 3-week training retreat for totally different reasons. Ruin, the Black and Tan girl is extremely insecure and finds comfort in her guardians by crawling all over them and has no idea of personal space. She struggles without Echo’s presence and becomes increasingly stressed when separated. Our goal is to make Ruin a more confident girl in her own skin. Echo, the tan girl has been issued with a menacing order after getting out and att...acking another dog (no injuries sustained to either dog) but that has prompted her guardians to take the leap and get some professional help. Overall, Echo is a very well mannered dog but she struggles with impulse control around high energy dogs. Echos guardians are really wanting an overall assessment of her behaviours and to improve her basic obedience, leash manners and anything else we see fit for her. These two are seriously the sweetest dogs! They love unconditionally and we quite often finish our sessions with massage and cuddles

08.01.2022 Welcome, Knox Knox is taking part in our 3-week lifestyle stay and learn program which has been fully customised to his needs. Knox was unfortunately attacked by two dogs on two separate occasions so this has led to a very nervous and anxious dog on leash. Knox displays his emotions through severe leash reactivity and he has become aggressive towards dogs he does not know. Knox’s guardians have I put a lot of work with him but are needing some guidance on getting through th...is hurdle. Knox is going through our fundamental training program and is being exposed to very carefully selected dogs to ensure we work on building up his confidence around them. It’s not a free for all, but about finding dogs who respect Knox’s space and read his body language. Knox was able to socialise off leash yesterday with 8 dogs ranging in sizes in one of our social groups. Go Knox! You got this!

08.01.2022 Barkley sure did live up to his name! For the last 3-weeks, Barkley has been working with our trainers to overcome some problematic behaviours. Barkley’s default behaviour is to BARK at EVERYTHING! His guardians wanted a well rounded dog that was easy to manage and their end goal was to be able to take him camping! ... Through structured training, we can exposed him to a variety of different things, encourage appropriate responses, set a solid foundation of communication, conditioned leash pressure on the slip leash, created positive associations with the crate, solidified place training and much more! Barkley is a confident little fellow so through our training program, he learnt just how to be that PAWFECT doggo! Thanks for staying Barkley, it’s been a pleasure

08.01.2022 Lock down didn’t faze our STAY AND PLAY dogs!

08.01.2022 Clint working his fluffy off this morning with trainer Allison. She has a major soft spot for this fellow!

06.01.2022 Another dog daycare day of ‘let’s see how dirty Penny can get’ .... I give her a 7/10! Unfortunately, Tobi gave you a run for your money yesterday. ... I love nothing more than seeing dogs ‘just be dogs’. And I love that the owners LOVE seeing their dogs filthy, covered in mud and slobber and generally just living their best life. Disclaimer: Of course they come home clean

04.01.2022 Welcome PUPPY CAMPER REMY Today beautiful 12 week old Remy the standard schnauzer joined us for our 5 day puppy camp. The guardians would like to fine tune his basic obedience, leash skills and provide him with appropriate exposure ready to prepare him for the big, wide world. ... First, we have to get him out all of the staffs arms

03.01.2022 ARLEE, NESSIE, BARLEY AND ARCHIBALD would like to say THANK-YOU for a ripper day today! Filled with lots of cake, fun, mud, playing, exploring, rolling, running, chasing, sleeping, sun baking and much more! We love our daycare community! ... Comment below your doggos resting after today’s big adventure! Xx

03.01.2022 Buster recently spent 5-weeks as part of our extensive behavioural mod retreat! Busters guardian is an absolutely beautiful man who had Buster for 3 weeks before he knew he needed to book him in for an extensive training package. Buster came from the RSPCA and was incredibly malnourished and skinny. He was also treated for skin cancers and had quite a few back teeth removed. He has no known history but has some dog to dog aggression, dog to kid aggression and has very explo...sive, reactive behaviour on leash. Buster worked through our behavioural foundation program with an extensive focus on his dog to dog interactions, appropriate dog to kid interactions and dog to other animal interactions. As much as we did not get him to the point of socialising comfortably off leash, we were able to get him to the point of ignoring most dogs and controlling his interactions through his obedience control. His guardian had happy tears at handover with just how much calmer and more in control he was Buster has a great foundation for his guardian to control on with now and we look forward to following their progress over the coming months.

03.01.2022 How much fun did Tonka have at daycare today?

03.01.2022 Welcome Hector Hector is a 5 year old working line Doberman who was bred for security work. He unfortunately failed in this field and a suitable pet dog home was found. Hector flew from NSW to SA to live with his new family. Hectors guardians have been told that Doberman’s are untrainable and that training is a waste of time and money. That is far from the truth and now it is our turn to help Hector and his guardians live a much more happier and relaxed life.... Hector does portray some anxieties and this has led to jumping 6-8 foot high fences. He has to be left inside whilst they are out otherwise he will jump out the yard. We are going to be looking at suitable ways to expel his pent up frustration through fun and interactive games like Tug, flirt pole, slat mill, free shaping and relationship building exercises. This combined with our training plan will help us achieve the best result. The goals of our stay and learn for Hectors guardians are to be able to walk him down the street without reacting and to help with his anxiety behaviours. We can’t wait to see Hectors progress over the next three weeks! Let’s do this

02.01.2022 Today we sent this little fellow on his merry way back home to his humans Milo may be TINY but he has a BIG personality. From doing zoomies, to diving off the deck, to playing chasey with the dogs for hours on end, to then curling up and going to sleep.. We have loved watching this little legend find his way here! Milo came in to help with his toilet training, basic obedience, leash manners and recall. We worked on a variety of different things, but a huge part of Milo’s ...go home was discussing routine, structure and leadership within the home. This little lad is smart, and that keeps his humans on their toes but hopefully was a better understanding and a dog who has solid foundations, we will be able to see this dog blossom back into his home. Thanks for staying Milo, the farm are already missing your night time crazies

02.01.2022 This handsome chap is BOSCO Bosco has joined us at Take the Lead HQ for a three week lifestyle Stay and Learn package. Bosco is looking to move into a home with 4 other dogs, but he is currently struggling with some dog aggression/reactivity. He is EAGER to please and is a very trainable fellow. We are implementing some important management strategies so we can successfully integrate him - place training, crate training, duration obedience, threshold manners and calmness... in the home. Integrating dogs into a home is not as simple as putting them out the backyard and letting them ‘work it out’. Personally, I had huge multi dog household issues with my two Rottweilers a few years ago. I learnt ALOT about management, triggers, warnings, body language and it is something I am extremely passionate about. Would you like to hear my story about how I overcame my multi dog household issues? I’m more than happy to share my routine, photos, management strategies and what I learnt through the whole process.

02.01.2022 Little Ned, the young Boston Terrier had a custom Stay and Learn package for 7 days. Ned's guardians have committed themselves to training and providing Ned with the best start possible. They took part in our online puppy pre school and we could see how much work has been put in to his development. On Neds stay, we worked on his place, crate training and his down position as this was something his guardians have struggled with. Ned is an incredibly intelligent dog who loves ...having a job to do. It was so much fun working with him!

01.01.2022 All the dogs: ‘Did you hear daycare comes with a complimentary hydrobath if you get too dirty?’ Penny: Challenge accepted.

01.01.2022 Dot the Dalmatian! Dot is a young Dalmatian puppy and her guardians were having some serious concerns around some reactive behaviours that if left, could become dangerous. Dot was showing reactivity and fear based aggression towards other dogs and children. Dot lacked a lot of confidence around new things, objects and textures. Dot originally came in for a day train but it was evident she needed more specialised, intensive training whilst young. ... Dot is now absolutely smashing her training The trainers all fight over who is going to get to train her as she is just so trainable and has come along in leaps and bounds. Dot has worked on all her basic obedience with duration, distance and distraction, has been crate trained, place trained, has loose leash walking down packed, recalls are 100% (at home and in Two Wells), off leash heeling (here and in Two Wells) and we have been working on her confidence on on the Flexi to allow her to engage and explore the environment along with charging the markers in all situations. Dot leaves to go back home on Friday after two weeks and we are very impressed with her progress and I think her family will be pleasantly surprised Tomorrow she is going to integrate into the main social daycare group and work around the kids a little more!
