25.01.2022 A weekend of TaKeTiNa in Sydney, led by Master TaKeTiNa teacher Tania Bosak

24.01.2022 With regret we have had to cancel the Taketina workshop scheduled for Friday May 17 at Studio Arabesque, as Tony will be having knee surgery. When he is back on a stable knee we will offer another workshop

23.01.2022 For our final TaKeTiNa meditation session for the year, we will lightly explore the theme of integrating polarities: doing and being active and passive movement and stillness sound and silence ... activity and rest control and surrender Is it possible to have both sides of a polarity at the same time? Through rhythm meditation we will explore this question. I invite you to join Heather and me. See more

22.01.2022 Join Tony Hole and Heather Seyhun for the last TaKeTiNa workshop in Adelaide for 2018. Experience embodied rhythm as a safe container to play with allowing losing rhythm without self judgement. Make friends with surrender and letting go. Find how group embodied rhythm can teach you about presence and mindfulness. Be surprised by what embodied rhythm brings out of you in the moment.

21.01.2022 The Taketina experience of rhythm: the invitation is to find a place of letting go of control, letting go of trying to get it right. The invitation is to both do and not do, to be both active and passive, watching and listening and waiting as well as doing and being. The invitation is to trust that it will come.

17.01.2022 Ever wondered about the drum that guides the TaKeTiNa journey?.... This large bass drum is called a Surdo- traditionally used in many kinds of Brazilian music, such as axé/samba-reggae and samba. The Surdo plays the lower parts from a percussion section and is the heartbeat of percussion samba. The Surdo drums provide a steady beat that acts as a foundation for all the accompanying rhythms! The surdo not only marks the pulse of Samba, it also represents the heartbeat of TaKeT...iNa. No other drum provides such a steady rhythmic foundation like the pulse of a Surdo. It accompanies and stabilises the steps of the participants in the TaKeTiNa process - it's why we call her the Mother Drum! See more

15.01.2022 Tony and Heather had a great time facilitating a TaKeTiNa taster at the African drumming and dance Camp Farafina. We sank deeply into a rhythm journey and participants discovered what Reinhard Flatischler (founder of TaKeTiNa) describes as reasonless happiness

11.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for another wonderful session on Saturday at The Singing Gallery! The rattle, is possibly one of the oldest percussion instrument of humankind. As well as marking a distinct rhythm, it can also have a powerful trance-inducing effect. At our session on Saturday, the Caxixi rattle was used in our TaKeTiNa journey with its soft sounds co-creating the rhythm of the journey! we look forward to the next TaKeTiNa journey in the Vale on September 15th at The Singing Gallery

02.01.2022 TaKeTiNa: Whats in it for drummers? In TaKeTiNa a participant doesnt learn a new rhythm to practice. It is an experiential process with rhythm that works directly on the body through the sensory-motor system. This stamp on the body allows for deep rhythmic awareness that can be extremely beneficial for drummers. The process is designed to develop being in rhythm without analysing or counting. In fact analysing and counting get in the way of the process. Drummers can ben...efit from deeply embodying rhythm and being held by rhythm rather than intellectualising rhythm. Participants are encouraged to notice and feel the spaces and silence in rhythm as much as the sound in rhythm: an essential element in drumming. TaKeTiNa is very much about your relationship to rhythm, and your relationship to learning rhythm. It is designed to help people let go of chasing rhythm and trying to get it right. Rather, the aim is to make friends with confusion and falling out of rhythm. In this process, the seeming opposites of chaos and order work together as two necessary parts of learning rhythm. With flexibility instead of rigidity, participants can discover that falling back into rhythm can happen almost magically. This is invaluable learning for drummers. Through the process, drummers can experientially learn more about groove and flow

01.01.2022 Next Adelaide TaKeTiNa workshop: Sat 1 Sept; 1 - 3.30pm at Studio Arabesque, 23 Payneham Rd, College Park. $30 In TaKeTiNa, rhythm is your teacher. Its about your life, about your relationships, about how you live in this world Reinhard Flatischler, founder of the TaKeTiNa process. Tony and Heather will guide you on a journey into embodied polyrhythm, and at the same time, on a journey into yourself.... Click on the link for more details. See more

01.01.2022 Thank you to everyone on the South Coast who came along to the first Taketina Saturday session at The Community Hub in Goolwa! Was a great afternoon & I'm looking forward to our next session on Saturday 28th of July

01.01.2022 Taketina is not a workshop for learning a rhythm from a particular culture (eg African drumming workshop) Instead, it explores the matrix of universal possibilities for rhythm from which all cultures draw. Taketina is not a body percussion workshop, although through the body, Taketina participants can experience complex polyrhythms. Taketina is an experience in learning to be held by rhythm as a nurturing container rather than chasing and striving to get rhythm.... Taketina has been described as "... a moving meditation through rhythm" "... the yoga of rhythm" Many participants share afterwards about how they were truly "present" when in a Taketina journey. Others share about feelings of deep peace, calm, even joy. Others are stunned by how their own body could fall into complex rhythm without their conscious mind doing much.
