06.01.2022 Motivation is a funny thing, one day you are full of it and riding high, then before you know it, it is all gone and you feel like the couch is your best friend. A lot of people get frustrated at this and find motivation one of the hardest mind games to battle. So I’m here to bust a few myths and help you get back on track and stay there. Myth One: Motivation is a static state. this is one of the most important myths you could ever bust! No-one is ever 100% motivated, 100% o...f the time! Motivation, like most emotions, ebb and flow. Sometimes, you will be 100% motivated and it will feel easy move forward, and other days, it will seem like you have no motivation and you will feel flat, annoyed, frustrated and just blahhh. Myth Two: Someone can teach you how to be motivated. this is not entirely correct. You can learn strategies to get motivated and stay motivated (I have some to share), but you can’t be taught how to be motivated. The truth is, what gets you motivated is very personal and different for everyone. Myth Three: Why is it that I see people who are always motivated, and why am I not like that?. Well, there are two truths here. Examine closely the people you are comparing to. Are you close enough to them to see them all the time, even at their worst? Chances are, they are people who you only get to see the best of, usually because that is what they want to show to the world. And why are you not like that? Well, that is an unrealistic expectation that you will never be able to live up to.. but there are ways that you can be more motivated for more of the time (just not all of the time). So now that we have those myths out of the way, how about we move into some strategies on how to get motivated and how to stay that way for longer.. This week I will be releasing 3 posts targeting this exact subject in honour of Motivation May. 01.01.2022 Introducing Renee Drury my exercise buddy. Renee has been a client of mine since the date of her surgery. After completing the program, she jumped at the chance to show everyone that if she can do it, then so can you!!! "Hi, I'm Renee. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and my main goal in life is to have children. Sadly being diagnosed with PCOS and suffering multiple miscarriages I was feeling that my dream of motherhood was slipping away. I underwent Gastric Sle...eve surgery on 4th June 2019 completed by Dr Ken Loi at St George Private Hospital to assist with my weight management. Now having lost 38.5kgs, I wanted to further improve my chances of being able to have children naturally so I completed this exercise program as part of my coaching with Natasha from Taking Back ME. This program was a gentle way of introducing me to exercise after surgery. It was easy at first and I never felt sore. As the weeks progressed it became a little more challenging but it felt great that I could complete it. It gave me the confidence that I needed to kick start my fitness. My life now consists of much healthier eating and going to the gym 5 times per week. I'm on track to my goal weight of 65kgs. Thanks Natasha, I couldn't have done it without you. This was written when we filmed about 4 months ago. Renee has now lost 48kgs and has a healthy and active lifestyle which will ensure her results last long term. I am so proud of her.
