11.01.2022 The DEADLIFT Do you use it as part of your routine? Or do you avoid it due to Pain? Ensuring your set up the Deadlift correctly and know WHERE and HOW to engage the muscles you are meant to be working is key.... Here is how I set my clients up for the DEADLIFT - Breakdown 1) Set up to the bar so that 1/2 an Inch of your toes are visible when you look down at the bar. 2) Grab hold fo the bar, inside the knee for sumo, outside the knees otherwise. 3) Bring your shins to the Bar. Yes shins to the bar NOT the other way round, so shift your weight forward moving your shin. 4) Shoulders tight and wrap the crease in the arm to face forward. 5) Take the slack out of the bar Now lift, squeezing your glutes and shoulders as your stand. Common mistakes - Your bum comes up first meaning you hinge all at the lower back. Back/Shoulders round as you weren't tight enough/squeezing your shoulders enough Your head shoots up. When qued correctly this is a great exercise to build strength, shape and confidence.
