17.01.2022 Third time's a charm. 24 bulls offered, 24 bulls sold, top $20k to long-time supporters Lawrence and Pat Hack, Rocklea, Alpha. Average $10,354. Great support from repeat buyers with heartwarming reports of how well previous purchases are performing. New buyers too, some of which have used Limousin in times passed but are lured back with the docility, survivability and finish of the Talana genetics. We are humbled that a new Limousin Australian Record average price was ...set today, but are also dissapointed that not all the people that have supported us in years past were able to fill their orders. We will bring more bulls next year. Also thanks must go to Bony Villa Limousins whose bulls were not able to make the sale, but Hayden came and supported us regardless. Thanks for all your help mate. There is space for you next year.

10.01.2022 Interesting survey about Angus cattle in Aus. Of most interest, as a Limousin breeder, is that survey participants in all states identified temperament as the most important bull selection criteria. So not only does selection for docility improve fertility and weight gain, and of course makes for a a quieter calf crop, but it also makes the bulls easier to sell. Feeling good right now about being at the docility forefront in the Limousin breed since the mid 90's.

02.01.2022 A new stud sire has arrived this morning courtesy of James and Casey Morris, Morrisvale Limousin Stud in WA (thanks guys!). We contacted James looking for a young bull to suit some very specific requirements while staying as close to the Talana type as possible. We need a bull to pull a bit of mature weight out of some larger females we are getting from Leon and to a lesser extent Jupita to keep them commercially relevant. But we can't give up big 200d/400d weights, docili...ty or most certainly muscle. These bigger girls can breed some lovely bulls but you need to use real "nuggets" of sires and that is what a commercially relevant stud herd like Morrisvale is able to offer. Look around the breed for high 200d weight bulls that are not off the scale for mature weight...not many decent ones about. Especially if trying to retain other important traits such as calving ease and structure/feet and muscle. Morrisvale Quality Street fits into the "nugget" category, has a very consistent lineage, good skin, muscle and feet, might be homo polled, very high for docility, is pretty close to the Talana type...he was just 4000km away. Here he is fresh off the truck after a week in transit. We are using four natural service sires this year: Jupita and Leon of course, Morrisvale Quality Street, and a young full french Talana Poll Quentin.
