11.01.2022 VALE PARKHOUSE REFLECTION HSH 13.11.94 / 23.08.20... We had the sad task of saying goodbye to our much loved Reflection. Fleck was the middle sister of the "three black mares".....Parkhouse Classic, Parkhouse Reflection and Talawahl Spirit. Classic is the only one remaining, we lost Spirit last year. Fleck was a character, she had her ideas about how things should be done. I've had success campdrafting her all over the countryside, at big and small events. We only competed lightly in ASH events early on, (that wasn't for her) even though she could do it in her sleep! There's a lot of people who've had their toes trodden on, bottoms nipped, (accidentally of course.) Riders who have had the joy of having her fly sideways if a piece of paper or plastic was out to get her. The not so great occasion when she despatched a small dog, (I still feel bad about that.) The famous jig jog back to the truck, it was always great to get a park nearer the ring! There was no dirt in her though and over her time many people, especially junior and juvenile competitors rode her with great success. She was a regular for many years at the Glowalmans where the exchange riders from WA and locals would borrow her and take back home ribbons and prizes in their various age groups. You couldn't offend her, "ride her like you hate her" was the main instruction. In the camp she could be "economical" as someone described her but if you asked hard enough she could win a cutout. Outside, she loved to stretch her neck out and knew her way around the course. I campaigned her until she was 22 years of age and for the next couple of years she helped young Lachie start campdrafting. She won a ribbon at her last event before she retired. Fleck wasn't a good broodmare though. Her only offspring is Talawahl Conflict and that was through embryo transfer. Despite having no interaction Connie is very similar to her Mum in looks and attitude. Fleck will live on through her! We will miss her face about the place. Rest easy Fleck, it has been a great ride.

Just what Nev and Jodie ordered!... Not a bad effort from an old mare that wouldn't go in foal a couple of years ago.
