25.01.2022 One of the young people in our care wanted to see the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains. Joined by a youth worker, they took in the incredible views during a day trip recently. Outings like these are valuable experiences for young people in our care and provide the opportunity for conversation and positive reinforcement which they may not have experienced in some time. Why are they called the Blue Mountains? Our young person googled this, do you know the answer?

25.01.2022 Rotarians at Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook converged on our refuge to provide a much needed winter garden clean up. The large garden area at the property means the clean up required at this time of year was quite extensive. The veggie garden is ready for the next round of spring plantings. 24.01.2022 ‘Always Was, Always Will Be', is The 2020 theme for NAIDOC Week. At Taldumande Youth Services we acknowledge and thank the First Nations people who have occupied and cared for the continent for over 65,000 years. This NAIDOC week we Invite all Australians to celebrate having one of the oldest continuing cultures on earth. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples and at Taldumande we Always Will Be here to support the future of the first nations people through the young people we care for.

22.01.2022 Taldumande Youth Services has taken a group of young people to the ski fields. For most, this is their first time seeing snow. The group aged between 17 and 21 are all residents of Taldumande housing and live in semi-independent and transitional accommodation. The snow trip has become an annual event on our calendar organised by head of activities, Sean McFerran and this year was funded by us through through various fundraising channels and events.

Artist profile #8: Powderworks Powderworks is a band formed by Max, a young man who spent years rebuilding his life with the help of Taldumande Youth Services, after becoming homeless in his teens and now living independently. 18.01.2022 Share the Dignity who collect and distribute thousands of sanitary products in Australia via collection drives have donated to Taldumande Youth Services Winter Essentials Appeal. Corporate groups and individuals can donate essential items such as new winter PJs, trackpants and bedding this June/July. 17.01.2022 Taldumandes Winter Essentials Appeal has received a generous boost from property and infrastructure group, Lendlease. The Taldumande Youth Services corporate supporter has donated 480 bottles of Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash and Hand Sanitiser and 480 rolls of toilet paper! 14.01.2022 No matter how big or small, we are always so grateful for our network of supporters. Last week we urgently needed to get some furniture and whitegoods moved for a young person, and all it took was a quick call to Hire Express and we had a box trailer ready to go. 13.01.2022 A food drive to assist Taldumande Youth Services homeless children and young people is being held on the North Shore. The Rotary Club of Northbridge is holding a Community Collection of non-perishable foods on September 26 at St Marks Parish Hall, 1a Malacoota Road, Northbridge. Help stock the kitchen cupboards of our crisis accommodation houses by dropping off tins and bottles and unopened packaged foods, between 9am and 5pm.

06.01.2022 Last week we took a group of young people on our annual trip to the Snow Fields. Only one of them has had this experience before and thankfully there was lots of snow! These trips are so important for us and we are so grateful for those individuals and organisations who donated through 2019/20 which allowed us to make this happen. 05.01.2022 Here is one of our refuge rooms awaiting a new resident. This is what young people can expect when they move into Taldumande Youth Services accommodation. The walls are kept fairly bare so the young person can make the room their own. In the 2019/20 financial year, Taldumande Youth Services supported 703 young people aged between 12 and 21 and their families. 05.01.2022 Tarzan is the Taldumande Youth Services companion animal at the crisis shelter for 12 to 15 year old children and young people. Tarzan the Rabbit is often found darting from room to room, but when the temperature drops, she is the house heater hog.

The Victoria Cross ISD team members from Lendlease held a volunteer day this week and set to work on desperately needed building maintenance and improvements.
