21.01.2022 Inspiration is truly priceless - thank you for changing lives Qantas! The angels at Qantas invited 25 of our young people into their Centre of Service Excellence where they learnt about different business areas and the career opportunities they offer. They also heard directly from CIO Susan Doniz with many of the young people commenting that hearing her story was a highlight of the day.... The path to success looks a lot easier when you understand those whove walked it before arent so different from yourself. Its beautiful to see an organisation which is so committed to making a difference. An organisation that asks what they can do, rather than how long it will take. #Qantas #thankyou #YoungPeopleMatter #Inspiration

21.01.2022 Just as the young were disproportionately affected by the financial crisis, new research from the University of Cambridge suggests the young are also likely to be disproportionately affected by the economic fallout from COVID-19. Talent Rise founder Richard Earl discusses the future issues our youth will face. #covid19 #inthistogether

Thank you HYATT Hotels and the team at Hyatt Regency Sydney for being such a caring and compassionate force in our communities. To celebrate the partnership, Talent RISE, Hyatt Regency Sydney staff and a collection of Talent RISE benefactors came together at Jac...kalberry Bar at Hyatt Regency Sydney on 12 March, 2020. #hyatt #community #inahyattworld #givingback #hyattregencysydney

19.01.2022 Meet James. James is one of the young candidates whos been working closely with Talent RISE and Academy IT over the past month. James is currently completing 6 Units of Competency from the Certificate IV in IT Support, along with 3 Microsoft course modules thanks to the amazing support of RISE Youth Manager Amy Bryan and Tanya Sanchez from Anglicare SA.... This course has really helped him work out what areas of IT he is interested in, and he is now looking for entry-level administration roles to get his foot in the door! James has discovered his true passion is networking, and although he says he has a lot to learn, he is really enjoying setting up windows servers, managing IPs and subnets, working with DHCP and using cmd to troubleshoot. If you have an opportunity for James to get started in his IT career, please connect with and reach out to Amy Bryan on [email protected] #YoungPeopleMatter

16.01.2022 The final story that we want to share is about a positive young man named Osman. With #InternationalYouthDay coming up on Monday, we encourage you to share your story about a first opportunity changing your life using the hashtag #FirstOpportunity. Osman grew up in Bangladesh before coming to Australia. In his final year at school, he felt like many other students: lost and unsure of his future, so he was referred to Talent RISE.... When Osman came in to meet us, his smile and positivity lit up the room and we knew that whoever gave him a chance would not regret it. With coaching and support we helped Osman understand his strengths and capabilities - we saw that he was a practical learner so decided to try secure a traineeship for him so that he could gain certification whilst on the job. After just two interviews Osman was offered a traineeship with a very successful consulting firm who were committed to nurturing his talent and opening up a career path to his dream job in IT Project Management. Osman is still working there to this day and is absolutely thriving in his role. We are so proud of Osman and are very pleased to see al his hard work paying off! How did your #FirstOpportunity change your life?

11.01.2022 We think if you change someones life, the least you deserve is a shoutout, so we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to Amy Bryan and Business SA! This is Caleb, who has been working with Amy since April this year after hearing about RISE through a friend. Although in retail, Caleb had a secret passion for IT and needed some help to take the plunge. Together, Caleb and Amy identified his skills & weaknesses, and worked one on one to complete resume writing, interview practic...e and skills testing through a range of RISE workshops. 12 weeks and lots of hard work later, Amy referred Caleb to Paul Seawell at Business SA. Fast forward and Caleb has now been working with Business SA as a Trainee Administration Officer for the past five months under the fantastic and supportive guidance of Kerry Sutton. We have heard nothing but great feedback about Caleb, and he is stoked to be employed by Business SA. We cant wait to see what 2020 will bring for him! #changealife

09.01.2022 Our global ambassador, Karl Lokko, knows better than anyone the power of opportunity. He grew up on a gang-ridden housing estate in South London, witnessed his first shooting at the age of 12 and went on to be shot at, stabbed, and saw many of his friends murdered as he rose through the ranks to become one of Londons most high-profile gang leaders. Now a successful campaigner, poet, and public speaker, Karl works to reform gang culture and is passionate about helping all yo...ung people achieve their goals and find their purpose. 08.01.2022 How did we get to where we are today? Richard Earl discusses why and how he built RISE in part 2 of his interview with Ross Clennett.

06.01.2022 R U OK Day Being out of a job impacts the way young people feel about themselves and how they cope with difficult circumstances. Thats why its vital that youth unemployment, as well as the emotional and mental side effects, are addressed. At Talent RISE, it is our mission to provide the support necessary to get young people into jobs, and better mental and financial wellbeing in general.... #RUOK #RUOKDay #TrustTheSigns See more

05.01.2022 Our next story we want to share in the leadup to #InternationalYouthDay is Gideons. Growing up in the Waikato, Gideon struggled at school and felt there was a lack of supportive and engaged teachers. He left school very anxious with no qualifications and went into retail work, as he lacked the confidence to apply for any office jobs. Upon moving to Wellington to attend Potters House Christian Fellowship, Gideon signed up to receive the Unemployment benefit to keep his hea...d above water. After a few months of unsuccessfully trying to secure work, Gideon was referred to our programme. We worked with Gideon to identify his strengths and areas for development, as well as giving him the option of two weeks work experience in the Talent office. We then advocated for Gideon through a process that saw him secure a temporary role with a bank in their Contact Centre. On completion of the assignment, Gideon was offered further temporary work, however due to the skills he gained he was also offered a permanent role by one of their competitors where he is still currently employed. Gideon continues to visit Talent RISE and speak to our youth about his experiences and has even offered to be a youth mentor! How did your #FirstOpportunity change your life?

04.01.2022 Almost every single job position advertised requires prior experience in a similar role. What will our future workforce look like if this continues? Are we turning off the talent pipeline in our own communities? #development #talent #hiring

03.01.2022 Weve been working with Scentre Group (owner and operator of Westfield in Aus and NZ) to help bridge the youth unemployment gap. Talent RISE and Scentre Group worked closely together to find opportunities for young candidates across Australia as Christmas Ambassadors at Scentre Groups Westfield Living Centres. These ambassadors help customers have the best possible experience at Westfield Living Centres during the holiday period. With Scentre Group looking much less at exper...ience, and much more at attitude and people with a genuine desire to help customers, these roles were a perfect fit for young people hoping to get a start in a customer-facing role. Bridging the youth unemployment gap for people in local communities represents so much more than just finding a job; it builds self-confidence, self-esteem and provides an empowering and inclusive place where they belong, and connecting them to our society using positive social inclusion.

02.01.2022 Have you heard of Catarina? With everything going on, she's still working hard to help open the door for young people and put them on a path to success. 02.01.2022 As we continue to drive home the importance of first opportunities for young people - the next story we are sharing in the lead up to #InternationalYouthDay is about a passionate UX Designer named Troi. Troi was born in Bendigo, a rural city in the centre of Victoria. Her family struggled to make ends meet and she was forced to grow up quickly. Home life was pretty hard, she says. Even though my parents tried to shelter us, we were still exposed to domestic violence, drug ...abuse, alcoholism and mental health issues. Despite this, Troi a proud Wamba Wamba and Gunditjmara woman completed high school. When we met Troi, we could see the same burning desire that we had seen so many times before - the desire to rise above her circumstances and take ahold of the opportunities she deserved. Once we learnt that her dream career lay in UX, we helped Troi to obtain a scholarship in UX design so that we would be able to assist her in getting a foot in the door. Upon graduation Troi managed to secure a role as a UX Designer through the scholarship and has been successfully building her career for the last two years. We are immensely proud to see Troi displaying her potential and cant wait to see where her passion takes her next. How did your #FirstOpportunity change your life?

The human impact in the face of such large numbers is almost incomprehensible but when youre working with individuals affected it really hits home. It can be a tough job trying to change the world but receiving feedback like this from our recent workshop makes our hearts swell!
