25.01.2022 Talgarno day care! The future tennis stars

24.01.2022 Fabulous news for our tennis club

23.01.2022 The Executive Committee have decided to cancel this week’s round of tennis for all grades. Although the air quality looks to be ok for Friday and Saturday most ...towns are still on watch and act. With the latest Bushfire at Carboor and surrounding areas and the prediction of thunderstorms and 41 degrees for Friday, it is just not worth the risk. We also have a lot of CFA volunteers out there doing it tough and on standby over the coming days. This round will be treated just as would a heat/wash out. Points will be split. Bye as normal. Thank you for your understanding and please keep safe.

23.01.2022 Hi all, as we are able to reopen for coaching and tennis competitions now you will see this QR code at the front entrance fence and at the clubrooms. So if you are attending for coaching, competition, or a casual hit, please use this to record your visit to the courts in case we ever need to help with contact tracing. Using the code is easy. Scan the QR code with your Smartphone camera app and then you'll be prompted to open the link and enter your:... - first name * - last name - phone * - email address, - estimated duration of stay. *mandatory fields Your details are stored securely on the VisitSafe website. which is recommended by Tennis Victoria and will not be used for any other purpose. Thanks!

17.01.2022 Kiewa & Talgarno District Tennis Association Grand Finals were hosted by our club yesterday. Congratulations to all who contested the finals and to the winners.

17.01.2022 Great day of tennis at Talgarno yesterday. Both our section 4 teams put in a fighting effort in their morning matches, while section 1 scraped through with the win after father/daughter combo, Brendan & Tilly, won their final set tiebreaker 12-10 to clinch the day 5 sets to 4!

17.01.2022 It’s been great having coaching with Paul again this year. We have 20 enthusiastic kids coming along each Monday afternoon. Our club was very fortunate to receive funding through the Community Recovery Grants Program which has kept our coaching costs minimal. Many thanks to the Towong Shire Council for this fantastic opportunity!

16.01.2022 Condolences to the Filby family whose boys have all played at our club in recent years. The sudden and tragic passing of Danelle, their mother, is a shock to our tight knit community. If you can donate to the Go Fund Me page please do and we will make you aware of any other ways you can support in due course.

16.01.2022 More great news for our tennis club receiving funding from Towong Shire Council. This will be used to run free tennis coaching for children and a fast four competition for adults once COVID 19 restrictions ease and purchase a new fridge for our club room!

16.01.2022 A big thanks to Alan Stephenson and Graham Redman for your help today. We have clean running water in the Club rooms again. Thanks to Alan for also supplying the materials and to Dunn's Twin City Cranes for the lend of the machine to take care of the manual labour.

15.01.2022 Please take care as we undertake a planned roadside burn on 6 December, weather permitting. There may be short delays for motorists.

15.01.2022 Action from the first night of our Fast Four competition tonight. Some good tennis by all! Thanks for the supper from Hotel Granya and for the Community Recovery Grant from Towong Shire Council. Let’s do it again next week!

15.01.2022 Thanks to the relaxed COVID19 restrictions we are now looking to hold our Fast 4 competition! https://www.facebook.com/events/619460342264182/ Dates will be Wednesdays on 11/11, 18/11, 25/11 and 2/12. This will be a free competition thanks to the Community Recovery grant from the Towong Shire. This will be a great opportunity for locals to get together, have a chat, connect with one another, and improve your health and wellbeing! ... We are now looking to lock in players to make up teams. We will probably aim for teams of 4, but depending on interest the teams may be smaller or larger. Each player will play at least 3 sets of fast 4 tennis (see rules https://www.tennis.com.au//FAST4-Tennis-Information-Sheet.) We estimate each fast 4 set will run about 20-25 mins. The whole night of tennis will be complete by about 930pm. Teams will have ideally no more than 2 section 1 level players. Player fees - nil, due to Towong Shire grant. New balls, lights hire, tea, coffee, supper all included. Please contact Adam on 0412560833 or Brendan 0439881440 or via our Facebook page quickly with your team or express interest as an individual and we will place you in a team. Our event will take place within the Community Tennis Guidelines for Regional Victoria.

10.01.2022 Hi all. As many of you would know, James and the Filby boys lost their much moved wife and mother Danelle on the weekend. The community has set up a Gather My Crew page to help coordinate any tasks that the family need help with. If you have time and resources to help, please log on here: https://app.gathermycrew.org/action/invite. Once logged on, you will be able to accept tasks in the calendar. 08.01.2022 A few things about the upcoming tennis season. Saturday comp - senior & junior will commence Oct 17th. The draws are currently being done. At our AGM, discuss...ions were had about the lack of teams in Section 1. Clubs were asked to vote re the possibility of changing S1 back to 3 men & 3 women if this would help get more teams into S1. The majority of teams were in favour of this but felt it was too close to the upcoming season to act on it. So for this year it will still be 4 men 2 women in S1 and we still have only 5 teams in S1 while there are 12 in S2. However next season this WILL change. So in affect we have given clubs 12 months notice to prepare for this. The aim will be to get (and keep) at least 8 teams in S1. Covid restrictions have meant a few changes to this season. At this stage - and this could change before I even finish typing this message, but for now - no spectators, children can come with their parents if there is no alternative child care. 1 parent can be at a junior match with their child. - an attendance register must be kept by the hosting club- this can be a written register or a QR code (available on Vic Tennis Site). - Social distancing and masks apply when off court, masks are for anyone 12 and over unless you have an exemption - clubrooms must remain closed, captains to get balls and scoresheets etc out of rooms then close them up again. If toilets are inside your rooms, they may be accessed. - there is a cap of 10 people per court per venue - e.g. at Tangam 6 courts so 60 people - no shared arvo tea or water bottles - no sharing of equipment - provide sanitiser for use - no hand shaking - try a racquet tap instead These regulations will apply to all tennis at all regional venues. Please everyone use some common sense here - we need to do our best to comply or we could be shut down. If anyone has any questions or concerns please let me know. Shelley Lancaster President.

06.01.2022 People are starting to ask about this coming weekend's matches. As conditions can change rapidly each day, the executive committee will not meet to discuss until probably mid week. Thank you for your understanding & patience. And please stay safe!

06.01.2022 Hi all, just letting you know we are proceeding with night tennis! We are now looking to lock in 16 players which will make up 4 teams. Each player will play 3 sets of fast 4 tennis (see rules https://www.tennis.com.au//FAST4-Tennis-Information-Sheet.) We estimate each fast 4 set will run about 20-25 mins. The whole night of tennis will be complete by about 830-900pm. Teams will have ideally no more than 2 section 1 level players. Player fees Members $7 per week Non members $10 per week. Fees cover balls, lights, tea, coffee, supper and court use. Please contact Adam on 0412560833 or Brendan 0439881440 quickly with your team of 4 or express interest as an individual and we will place you in a team.

01.01.2022 In regard to this weekend's matches I think all we can do is treat them on a match by match basis. The weather is not predicted to be extreme like last Friday w...as. So it will be treated the same as wet weather (and we may even get that yet!) If the air quality at your match is at a dangerous level - 200 or more - then you should not play and the points will be split. The link below should take you to the air quality register. But really, common sense should prevail and no ones health should be put at risk. This applies to both seniors and juniors. If anyone has any concerns or problems - please give me a call - 0417 231061 Shelley Lancaster President https://www.airvisual.com/australia/victoria/wodonga
