25.01.2022 I promised participants at my ecommerce presentation for the Rethinking Business summit held at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre last week, that I'd post a reflection by today. Just made it. In short, I am highlighting here that ecommerce is the pointy end of marketing where, as Thomas Hobbes might have said, existence is nasty, brutish, and fast. Hopefully, this fleshes out my thinking a little more, and adds and dash of hope and direction. Oh, and Shop Local SA gets a m...ention, too. - Steve Many thanks to these organisations for making it possible: BusinessSA, Regional Development Australia Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island, Adelaide Hills Council, and Mount Barker District Council.

25.01.2022 UPDATE: The workshop is still happening but will be done online due to new Covid measures, and Steve is thinking about some surprise elements to include! Steve's pretty chuffed that he'll get to road test his new tripod at our popular, DIY Smartphone Photos and Videos workshop being run in Goolwa tomorrow for Alexandrina Council's Business Alexandrina and Adelaide Business Hub. Secretly, we don't think he needed a new one. Yes, one leg was damaged while filming video at Skytrek & Willow Springs Station a few weeks ago but a seasoned "bushman" (as he now refers to himself after that trip) would surely have been able to rig up a solution with some fencing wire!

23.01.2022 Thank you, Adelaide Business Hub and Regional Development Australia Far North, for hosting me (Steve) in Port Augusta, while wisely keeping Michael safely contained within Zoom for our hybrid workshop this morning on Effective Ecommerce. With some participants in the room and some onlline, we had a cohesive session with lots of interaction and plenty left to absorb! And I can highly recommend Mamma Lou's cafe for breakfast and lunch - keeping me fuelled with delicious protein!

22.01.2022 Steve is back from the outback with a clear head and ready to deliver our refined blogging workshop that outlines how you can use blogging effectively. Yes, that's right, not just blogging for its own sake, but blogging to attract clients and draw them into your world, just like Steve attracted flies and mosquitoes while he was out bush! It's this Tuesday morning, online via Zoom thanks to Adelaide Business Hub's Digital Solutions SA program, and there's no time like the present to register so you can be ready to make good use of the traditional Summer planning period to get your blogging house in order! PS Friends don't let friends run businesses without blogging, so please consider tagging someone or passing this only. We have 10 seats at the ready!

22.01.2022 Having just finished running our DIY Smartphone Photos and Videos workshop for Alexandrina Council and Adelaide Business Hub, Steve hasn’t been able to make a coffee without taking photos first. #espresso and #marketing = intense afternoon ahead!

12.01.2022 Steve's been practicing safe podcasting with Dr Travis Brown for another episode of the This Pathological Life Podcast for Clinpath today. It was a bit muffled at first and then he realised that because he was in his own studio and Travis was in his, he could take his mask off temporarily.

12.01.2022 With South Australia's hard lockdown starting this morning, here's a note to say that while we're juggling some cancelled and postponed bookings, and getting some desk-based tasks finished, we're still here and we're wishing you a useful and effective few days. Some of our clients have been hit much harder than others, depending on their industries, and becuase we believe that "business IS personal" we're always here if you need to chat or vent at times like these. We're also using some of our time to finish off our re-visit of key research steps (always have to rinse and repeat with these things), as covered in this article Michael shared recently in our blog. https://talkedaboutmarketing.com//8-essential-marketing-r/ Here's to moving through this time constructively!

06.01.2022 How versatile is your marketer? Steve showed he'll do whatever it takes to get things done. At last night's Western Adelaide Tourism & Visitor Sector Kick-Start event at Pirate Life Brewing in the heart of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the wind was pushing the council's banner over relentlessly. So, with his Double IPA in hand, Steve went over and became a dead weight (some say that comes naturally). He's hoping this act will atone for the sin of accidentally spilling beer on Claire Boan - Mayor of the City of PAE during recording of a special Port Adelaide Life episode of The Adelaide Show Podcast. If you missed the event, the Adelaide Business Hub was taking registrations for some special marketing events being run in the new year, with Steve as one of the presenters and mentors. Cheers!

05.01.2022 We normally keep this feed focussed on marketing but this podcast episode Steve produced for Clinpath features Australian Of The Year Dr James Muecke AM talking about diabetes and blowing our minds with hard data that challenges many myths. One of them is that there is zero evidence linking natural saturated fats to heart attacks and stroke, robbing many of us of foods that would keep us satiated, less prone to nibbling, and less prone to overloading our systems with sugar, which should be considered a toxin. It's well worth listening to the opening segment with James. The rest of the show then covers the history of diabetes before going deep and technical for the GP audience it is created for. All part of a day's work when you create marketing that matters!

04.01.2022 Thank you to the The Polaris Centre for entrusting me with their clients once again for my Smartphone Photos and Video workshop. When I asked participants to take some photos and play with angles and exposure, Jacqueline from Hang Logic took this interesting snap while I was still talking. Although this cost her a point for not paying attention to my every word, I really like the perspective of this image, earning her double points! - Steve
