25.01.2022 Talking ArtZ in the Upper Mountains | A great evening event! Thank you to lower mountains artist and BMCAN member Roslyn Elms of Little Wombat Gallery who chatted with Dr Regine Wagner, and to local musician and music store owner Ian Neil Morrison of Katoomba Music who talked with jazz legend and classical composer Bruce Cale during two fascinating talks last night at the Carrington Hotel. 23.01.2022 Hi arts people! Our next Talking ArtZ event at NOL Gallery in Katoomba will be a conversation with the well known wizard of art, John Ellison. Wendy will be probing the depths of Johns contribution to the arts in the Blue Mountains, and what has shaped his art practice. John has several art and literature heroes, so it will be good to explore his influences, especially as it will be in the gallery with his latest drawings and paintings. You must come along! ... SATURDAY 2nd November at 3pm. Nolan on Lovel Gallery, Lovel Street Katoomba. Bring your friends. John Ellison Unsolicited Portraits John has lived and exhibited in the Blue Mountains since 1982. From 1984 -90 he wrote some 40 articles for the Australian Artist Magazine. He became the Cultural Development Officer BMCC in 1992; and in 1994 initiated the Blue Mountains Winter Magic Festival which is now in its 25th year. John wrote the Blue Mountains Cultural Vision Statement which resulted in the Blue Mountains being made the Inaugural City of the Arts in 1996 In recent years John has painted full time and together with his partner Lyn Harrison exhibits annually at the Nolan on Lovel Gallery His main interests outside painting are poetry, literature and yogic breathing techniques

19.01.2022 Talking ArtZ Live Podcast Event Episode 10 was an astounding success, held at Nolan on Lovel Gallery, Lovel St, Katoomba on Saturday 3rd August. Noted author and radio presenter, Julie Ankers interviewed Lis Bastian the personality behind the hugely successful Big Fix. Lis has an extensive history in community development and the arts, and had the gathered attendees hanging on every word. Also we had a riveting conversation between Talking ArtZ founder and co-ordinator Wendy Tsai and Ian Neil Morrisson about the upcoming Interviews about Music that he will be conducting as companions to some of the upcoming Talking ArtZ events at the gallery. Having a unique personal cultural history forms a significant part of Natasha Daniloff’s creative story. A Russian heritage which includes having lived in Iran with her family after escaping the communist regime before coming to Australia, has shaped Natasha’s work as a painter and mixed media arti...st. 15.01.2022 UPCOMINT TALKINGARTZ What can we expect from Wendy Tsai in her upcoming exhibition? The next TalkingArtZ event at NOL Gallery, Lovel St, Katoomba is this Saturday 5th October. Rilka Oakley (pictured), (Blue Mountains Cultural Centre Gallery Curator) and Wendy Tsai will be in conversation about the Expos program at the gallery, and about Wendys Expos show Drawing Kedumba which opens on the 4th October.... Starts at 3pm, with a break around 4pm for drinks and nibbles by donation. We are encouraging attendees to view the Exhibition on Saturday before they come to the talk so that you can get the full experience and formulate your questions for Wendy before hand. EXHIBITION Wendy Tsai: Drawing Kedumba 5 October 1 December Drawing Kedumba is a collection of drawings, video and embroidery documenting the Kedumba River in Katoomba that stretches from the Gully to Katoomba Falls. The exhibition visually maps the landscape and reveals the struggle between historical and natural preservation, and overdevelopment. The exhibition consists of over forty small drawings hung together to form a huge detailed visual map of the area. Video, photography, and embroidery provide smaller narrative encounters. The artworks consider some of the multi-layered complexities of biodiversity, Aboriginal displacement, colonisation, and current land management practices, as well as a solemn recognition of the areas natural beauty. Includes a visual piece from Brad & Lyle Diedrich. A Blue Mountains Cultural Centre Expos Program exhibition. 13.01.2022 During the 2019 BMCAN Talking ArtZ program held at the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba, Ian Morrison of Katoomba Music had a conversation with Bruce Cale about his life and love of music and his career as a Jazz legend. Originally intended as just a podcast the talk was so compelling it was felt that the event had the potential for a short documentary style piece on Bruces life. With the opportunity to finish the piece provided by the lockdown we are happy to present it now and ask that you like , share and subscribe to the YouTube channel and we look forward to providing more of this content that supports a Blue Mountains Creative Arts Strategy. A podcast version will be released sooon with even more content and special outtakes.

07.01.2022 Talking ArtZ Episode 21 | October 2020 | Martin Roberts Blue Mountains visual artist and and creative arts therapist Martin Roberts talks to Wendy Chai and Brad Diedrich about his work practises and how he is dealing with the COVID-19 lockdown while presenting a new exhibition at Braemar Gallery in Springwood. His new exhibition 'Landscapes from the Anthropocene' is an exhibition that considers the proposed geological age during which human activity has become the dominant in...fluence on the environment, ecosystems and the climate. The collection is textile based, with a variety of fabrics collaged together, painted, stitched and incorporate a variety of mixed media and found objects to create layers of images and textures that contemplate our changing world. The interview was first played on Blue Mountains Live after ARTHouse on RBMFM and is now available here as a podcast in the Talking Artz series. We are very aware of the significance of the past few months on our community and our need to gather to support each other and enjoy the nurturance that art fosters.
