22.01.2022 MAISIES FIRE ENGINE There are lots of Maisie books but this one is is one of the story book series, along with Maisies tractor, Maisies pool and others. Its the next level up from the many Maisie flap books. ... On first glance it looks like its about a fire engine, but its really a story about a little black cat! Does your child have or know a cat? You could talk about the cat you know, and what she would do if she was hosed down! Or if you have a toy fire engine and a little cat toy, make a ladder (popsticks or strong cardboard) and act out the story together!! Available at Paper Bird Childrens Books and Arts

22.01.2022 When we sit to share a book we are creating a space to be together, to be available for our child (or grandchild, friend etc.) and not distracted by anything else thats going on around us. The agreement to share a book allows us to tune in to what really catches their attention, their emotions, their sense of humour, even what they dont particularly respond to. We can, through the book sharing experience, get to know our young book buddies better! All these brilliant kids book writers & illustrators (...and more) will be at Paper Bird with their favourite pet or teddy to celebrate how wonderful it is to have a childrens bookshop in Fremantle. 12.01.2022 Sues experienced, family inclusive approach to prevention and early intervention speech- language pathology will empower you in your communication with your young child. You will come to understand how your child is beginning to communicate and discover ways to enjoy stronger interactions together through play, booksharing and songs and rhymes. She is the co-author of a guide for parents and professionals: Booksharing: successful interaction with your child and books. Sh...e is also a co-author of the two WA Health publications, Talking together and Yarning together, provided to new parents by Child Health Services. Sue is working in the friendly environment of Paper Bird Books and Arts for Children, in the West End of Fremantle. She provides consultation and intervention for families with children 0-3 years, who have questions or concerns about their childs speech- language development, Sue also provides workshops on early language and literacy development for parent groups and staff in Early Childhood and Child Care Centres.
