25.01.2022 I thought I might reintroduce myself and the clinic while Im getting back into the swing of things. Hi, Im Karina! Im a Speech Language Pathologist and Mum, and I am passionate about the work I do with kids. I have two little ones myself, as well as two dogs and a cat. Ive lived in the Western suburbs for the last 20 years and now have my ideal home-office clinic set up at the front of my house in Bellbowrie. Many of my clients love coming back mostly to see my dogs but I... am ok with that! Though I work across all areas I have a special interest in working with children under 6 with speech and language delays, as well as school age children with literacy difficulties. I like to balance my part time private practice with my Mum life and often with one other position for variety and extra learning - this semester Im trying my hand at supervising speech pathology students. I jam pack my work days so I can have extra time enjoying my own kids, but I also try to have as many appointments available outside school hours as I can for busy families. I have a small family centred practice but I pride myself on the service that I provide to my families and relationships that builds. I am always happy to have a chat with anyone about their concerns or point them in the right direction. 14.01.2022 This cheeky little dude has started to test the boundaries lately, whether its finding every trick in the book at bedtime or deciding I need to try at catch him at the shops before cooperating. This is his face when I asked for the remote back and got a very resounding no! It may drive me bonkers but being the most timid kid at the playground, I also love that he is now starting to experiment, find confidence and perseverance. 02.01.2022 With a little one approaching school age, and not being a huge fan of the current way that phonics and literacy is addressed in prep, Im keen to give him a head start. As a literacy SLP, I tend to jump at lower case magnetic letters if I find them. Todays find was at Kmart - the box has one capital and four lower case letters for each letter ($10) and the magnetic board is a good size too (also $10).
