25.01.2022 Well done to all District 69 Humorous Contest finalists for having the audience enthralled and enraptured in laughter. Truly entertaining and solid display of a... consistently high standard of Contest. Our Southern Division representative Jan Vecchio DTM did OUR division, her club Talk Of The South, and all accountants proud with her speech ‘Accountants are Born’ (not made). We are still uncertain if Jan truly does have a 365 day wardrobe choices of ‘101 shades of grey’ outfits. Truly memorable. In fact, there were 3 accountants in the humorous final including first place champion! Congratulations to PNG Division representative for their first First Place in a District Final. A stand out speech!

25.01.2022 Lovely meeting today at Cudgen Surf Club, Kingscliff. Wonderful room overlooking the ocean - no whales and lunch out on the deck. Meeting went well with 13 of us there. Hoping to add a photo or two soon.

19.01.2022 At Talk of the South Toastmasters Club, we learn something new at each meeting, Today, we learnt the art of sabrage, a technique for opening a champagne bottle with a saber. Matthew slewed the saber along the bottle to break the top of the neck away, leaving the bottle open and ready to pour into champagne glasses.

17.01.2022 A wrap-up from our outgoing president Jan. Our last meeting was at one of my favorite venues the Secret Garden. Many thanks to the members who prepared and performed their meeting roles to perfection well almost. Julie’s General Evaluation was outstanding and reminded us, that we can all do better than we do. We may think we close to perfect, but perfection is not quite within grasp. Our Toastmaster, Di, did copious research on the theme déjà vu , Alison’s word for t...he day was TAUTOLOGY, Jonathan and Garry presented outstanding speeches and received apposite feedback, our guest (Linda Said) presented a toast to Versatility of Toastmasters and 6 fortunate members were subjected to responding to Steve’s quirky Table Topics. What would you do, if you found a worm-hole in your back shed connecting you to another universe??? I thank you for the opportunity to be your club President for 2018-2019. Make a difference to yourself by continuing your membership in TOTS and make a difference to others, by encouraging them to join TOTS. My John Maxwell Leadership Book is now closed

17.01.2022 What a wonderful meeting we had with TOTS yesterday. Some of us formed small groups and social distanced. 3 wonderful speeches - an Ice Breaker, Jonathan told us about the new iwatch and Elsie showed us some of her late partners art work. Di was Toastmaster and our meeting had a Believe It or Not! theme. Next meeting we are hoping to meet face to face... Keep an eye out for details.

15.01.2022 Such a good meeting today. We had our first face to face meeting since this Covid started and had 12 members at Jack Evans Boatharbour park. We social distanced, enjoyed lunch (we all bought our own) and had a fun time together. Next meeting will be at Julie's home in Kingscliff. This will be our last meeting for the year and we will be starting our Christmas festivities... come along and join us!

14.01.2022 I have tried to write this post several times but it disappears - I will try again. Last Saturday Area 23 held their Speech Contests. As the contests were held on Zoom we had only International and Humorous. Gary Davis represented TOTS in the International Contest with a lovely speech but did not place. Congratulations to Gary for such a good speech.... Congratulations to Lou Cervetto who represented TOTS in the Humorous Contest and was the contest WINNER and will go on to represent Area 23 in the Southern Division Contest in March next year. Congratulations to both Gary and Lou - we are proud of you both.

12.01.2022 Wonderful day yesterday for our last meeting of the year - our Christmas celebrations. Meeting at Julie's home. Udo lead us in an Aussie version of the 12 days of Christmas which was sung in several parts. Not necessarily the best singing from some (me!) but a lot of fun. He bribed the timer (again me) to allow the session to go over time.... Secret Santa was fun with Santa running to a 'Pirates' theme with Santa telling everyone who to swap their gifts with. Some great gifts and fun for all! Even Santa received a gift. Our speech from Jonathan about his mentor early in his work life was very entertaining. Good to see all sections of our lives provide us with a mentor or the opportunity to be a mentor. Two of our members reached Levels in Pathways - Alison C level 3 completed and Yvonne S level 2 completed. Congratulations ladies. Lunch was great with dessert being left until the meeting was over which was a great idea as it began raining (yea!) just as the meeting finished. We had two visitors - Maree from Lennox Lightning club and our former member, Lou who has returned to the Gold Coast. Hope to see him rejoin the club in the new year... Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. If your new year's resolutions include how to improve your public speaking skills while having fun and meeting new people, come along and join us on January 3 at the Greenmount Surf club for our first meeting of 2020. We will also be celebrating Elsie's birthday which falls on the same day. Hopefully photos will follow soon!

10.01.2022 The theme was "Useless Trivia" which abounded at Friday night's meeting with Garry as our host Toastmaster. We had plenty to celebrate too (Nothing trivial about that). Our president, Jan, presented ribbons to Alison W and Marianne G who have completed Level 1 on their chosen learning paths AND TotS acknowledges Robyn's Distinguished Toastmaster Award with the presentation of her new badge.

05.01.2022 Details of our next meeting will be published soon. If things improve we are hoping to be able to meet face to face very soon. If not, we will continue to meet via zoom. Let me know if you are interested in joining us for a fun time while learning to improve your speaking skills. No more fear of public speaking.
