21.01.2022 An important message from VICSES Seymour.

21.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are tha...nking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits. If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.

19.01.2022 It was disappointing to find people camping around the District over the Christmas weekend, unaware of the Total Fire Ban and campfires still burning. Please ensure you check the Fire Danger Ratings while camping and if in an area with little service, if it’s hot and windy, think about whether you really need the camp fire that day. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/can

18.01.2022 Staying apart, keeps us together.

17.01.2022 Even COVID couldn’t stop the Christmas Spirit in the Rook tonight! Our annual Santa run (albeit a day early this year), was a success once again! We love seeing the joy and glee on everyone’s faces as we make our journey around. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, we will see you again next year! P.S big shout out to Santa for making the trip to see us tonight, Rudolph, (Santa’s driver), and the elves for all their hard work and volunteering their time as always.

17.01.2022 - A Christmas message from the Tallarook Captain and BMT - Firstly, we are extending a huge thank-you to everyone who has supported us this year. It was something none of us has ever faced before; separation, isolation, unprecedented hardships and incredible difficulties, but we all made it through the other end together. We are beyond proud of all our volunteers for their continued dedication and commitment throughout the year. We appreciate you! From Tallarook Captain: Mer...ry Christmas Everyone! As the year draws to a close and people are moving about over the Christmas period, I want everyone to be aware of their movements and actions. While we welcome all the visitors to our community, particularly our mountains, we ask you to follow a few simple steps to help keep us all safe this Christmas. 1. Make sure you properly extinguish any campfires; wet them and turn it over until cool to the touch. 2. The Vic Emergency app is your go-to for information on any fires in your area - set a watch zone for while you're here! 3. Let someone know your travel plans and check in with them. Also, check the Fire Danger Rating (FDR) for the district you're travelling through and have a back-up plan. Lastly, from the Officers and Members of the Tallarook Fire Brigade, we wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas! https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-pr/before-and-during-a-fire https://www.emergency.vic.gov.au/prepare/

14.01.2022 Looking for something to do during iso this weekend? We’ve got a suggestion. How about preparing your property for the upcoming summer? While we are all still home every weekend, it provides the perfect opportunity for your family to start your wildfire preparation. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/pl/clearing-trees-and-vegetation

13.01.2022 Spot the snake in these pictures. With the Winter turning to Spring, snakes are on the move. This guy was seen at Lighthorse Park this afternoon.

13.01.2022 DO NOT DRIVE unless it's absolutely necessary tonight. Conditions on our roads are abysmal across the state this evening. Emergency services are currently at...tending to a huge number of incidents and accidents, with power lines and trees across roads and widespread power outages. If the curfew isn't incentive enough to stay home, please consider your own safety as well as the safety of emergency services workers who are currently dealing with the damage caused by this evening's severe weather. Please share with anyone you know who might be considering driving this evening. If you require assistance please contact the Victoria State Emergency Service on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000).

12.01.2022 A good reminder from our colleagues at Mount Macedon Volunteer Fire Brigade. While we are able to care for ourselves, we must not forget our animal friends and family in the heat.

04.01.2022 What a way to start the New Year! At exactly three minutes past midnight, we were called to an unidentified tree fire in Tallarook. Our members were on scene within minutes and had swiftly declared the false alarm. Shout out to the crews from Hilldene Fire Brigade and Seymour Cfa for their speedy response to support us on NYE!

02.01.2022 With restrictions lifted, many people are taking this opportunity to go bush. While we welcome our friends with open arms, we ask everyone, everywhere, please extinguish your camp fires!

02.01.2022 Have your family practiced your fire plan?

01.01.2022 We all know this year has been tough and everyone wants to celebrate the arrival of the new year. While we all have our own New Years Eve traditions, there is one thing we ask of you; please, do not use illegal fireworks this New Years Eve. Yes, they are brilliant and exciting to observe, but they also start fires and upset animals. Besides, we think the artistry in these light shows are better than the illegal fireworks light shows. https://youtu.be/2ac_RjtF7-Y https://youtu.be/bEtym7nQBZ0
