Could you please think about giving a 2020 Gippsland Gift? Small businesses need you! They need to generate tourism.So please purchase a small business gift card which most businesses will have......so small businesses can see a future and stay in business. Restaurants, gift shops, accommodation facitilitie...s, coffee shops, cake shop ,the local pub ...all need help! Why...because if you help small business you're helping the locals.The locals who run the orchard that sells homemade apple pies, the dairy farmer who made the milk in your favourite coffee and all the local food producers. Your one gift doesn't just help that one business , it helps all of us. Devestating news as two Rural Fire Service volunteers have died wh...en their fire truck rolled as they battled a blaze south-west of Sydney late on Thursday night, police say. A further three firefighters were injured in the crash near Wilson Drive in Buxton just before 11.30pm. Police said the fire truck was believed to have hit a tree before rolling off the road, as firefighters attempted to battle a blaze. "The driver and the front passenger died at the scene," police said in a statement. "Three other passengers were injured and were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. "A crime scene has been established and the Crash Investigation Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident." The Rural Fire Service said its thoughts were "with all the firefighters' family, friends and fellow brigade members". "This is an absolutely devastating event in what has already been an incredibly difficult day and fire season," the RFS said. Story by Sydney Morning Herald

23.01.2022 Wouldn't it be great to see the OTA'S ( On Line Travel Agents)of this world waive their commissions to all the accommodation businesses still operating in the Gippsland Region after the fires as their contribution to assisting accommodation businesses now struggling to attract tourists to the region. Booking.com , Expedia, Hotels Combined, Air B&B ,just to name a few. These commissions going O/S would be greatly appreciated being returned to the Gippsland communities to support the rebuild. We encourage the OTA's to show the accommodation operators just how compassionate they are by supporting Gippsland businesses.
