25.01.2022 Birthday Celebrations Day 3 - Disco Mania Day!!! Today we all came to Tall Tree wearing our disco outfits and brightest colours to dance and sing with our friends. Weve enjoyed different disco themed activities including arts and crafts, sensory bottles, balloon games, bubble machines and karaoke. Even Happy Feet Fitness joined in with the festivities! Weve danced and sang the day away and had so much fun. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything" - Plato.

25.01.2022 We are certainly having a magical first day for our First Birthday Celebrations week here at Tall Tree Subiaco, which has started in style with our Mad Hatters Tea Party. The children have been making their own special hats and potions and are looking forward to their High Tea this afternoon. Unfortunately the weather hasnt been the best for lawn games, but we havent let the rain spoil our fun! As you can see our Centre Educators certainly didnt want to miss out, so we w...ere sure to bring all our favourite Alice in Wonderland characters to life for the day. #neveradulldayattheoffice #madhattershinanigans Big thanks to Doyles Costumes Hire in Wangara that helped kit us out with a number of our outfits for today. 25.01.2022 Welcome to the Noongar season of Djilba! The Noongar calendar has six seasons, each representing the changes we see in the environment. In our Oak Kindy Room these seasons have been a catalyst of our explorations into different art mediums. Today, an artistic experience using natural resources harvested from our outdoor space and powder paint inspired conversations about wattle flowers and baby animals as the children learned about this season of conception. August 4th is also Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day, we marked this very important day in our cultural calendar through books, songs, discussions and art in the beautiful sunshine.

24.01.2022 Dear Families, We just want to extend our support to you all at this time. Whilst many of us are trying to juggle multiple roles, whether it be trying to work from home with children, supporting partners so they can still go to work, home-school young children, utilizing care for children because you still have to go to work yourself, or just constantly trying to figure out if were doing the right thing! Please take comfort from these words of wisdom (I know as a working mu...mmy myself it has helped me)... Parents: What we are being asked to do is not humanly possible. There is a reason we are either a working parent, a stay-at-home parent, or a part-time working parent. Working, parenting, and teaching are three different jobs that cannot be done at the same time. Its not hard because you are doing it wrong. Its hard because its too much. Do the best you can. When you have to pick, because at some point you will, choose connection. Pick playing a game over arguing about an academic assignment. Pick teaching your child to do laundry rather than feeling frustrated that they arent helping. Pick laughing, and snuggling, and reminding them that they are safe. If you are stressed, lower your expectations where you can and virtually reach out for social connection. We are in this together so stay well. That means mentally well, too. - Emily W. King, Ph.D.

23.01.2022 On Wednesday 4th November we were extremely fortunate to be able to host Stephanie Bull, The Baby Sleep Teacher, who presented a free 'baby sleep' info session for both our Tall Tree Subiaco and Manning families. According to Stephanie, the key takeaway for parents from this session is... *When establishing or changing a child's sleep habits, parents need to be calm and consistent with their approach. *How a child falls asleep is what they look for when they briefly wake b...etween sleep cycles. *When parents are struggling to get their child to fall asleep the first question a parent needs to ask themselves is...how is my child falling asleep? For further sleep tips and free child related resources parents are welcome to check out Stephanie's website www.thebabysleepteacher.com.au Stephanie is happy to offer a discounted rate for one on one packages and consultations for Tall Tree families and staff. *Receive $50 off either an email, video chat or in-home package (all packages have follow up support). *Receive $20 off a one-off 45 minute phone consult. (Please contact your Centre Manager for the appropriate discount code. Consultations must be booked by December 4th 2020 for the offer to be valid). You can follow Stephanie on Facebook and Instagram The Baby Sleep Teacher To the families that were able to attend the session, we hope you found it as informative as we did.

23.01.2022 A little reminder that for all our daddies on drop-off duty this morning we are serving take-away coffees, bacon rolls or sweet muffins to set you up right for the day. 22.01.2022 Some of our littlest artists were introduced to the medium of clay in their Atelier this morning. Using their hands, they pushed, prodded, pressed and squeezed to change the shape of the clay before using natural resources and clay tools to investigate mark-making and printing in their clay.

22.01.2022 Fun on the bouncy castle, cupcake decorating, foot scrubs and spas, cubby houses, slumber parties and special stories with our friends were just some of the ways we celebrated Day 4 of our Tall Tree Subi Birthday Week, all in the comfort of our pyjamas! Definitely the comfiest day of the week "Having fun with children creates connection. Connection builds relationships. Relationships are what we need to raise our children. So start having more fun, more of the time" - Bridgett Miller.

21.01.2022 We were so lucky to have a yoga incursion from Fun-key Yoga today! With our wonderful Educator Paola regularly taking small groups for yoga sessions throughout the week our Kindy children are becoming yoga experts! They were so excited to demonstrate the poses and stretches they already know to our Fun-key yoga instructor.

We intend to put our mobile pantry in different spaces in our community, if you know of a local spot where we could help people in need please let us know. If you would like to kindly donate any food items you can leave them in our foyer.

14.01.2022 A very special thank you to Sue who kindly came in and taught our Kindy children all about origami today. It literally translates as ori (paper) and gami (folding). We are very excited to create a mobile using todays creations and display them in our room.

12.01.2022 What an amazing week we have had celebrating our first birthday with all of our wonderful Tall Tree Subiaco children. Our final day was Messy Play Day where our children from Nursery through to Kindy got to enjoy all things slimy and gooey! Messy play is an important part of learning in the early years as it helps foster curiosity, imagination and exploration, helps promote physical development, encourages communication and language development and helps support the ability for children to play independently. On what has been our final day of celebration, all of us here at Tall Tree Subiaco would like to take the opportunity to thank our Centre families for their constant support. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have been chosen by you to be a part of your childrens early education and care

11.01.2022 Our rainbow dressup day today was planned to spread some much needed colour and joy during this stressful time. Laughter could be heard throughout our centre as the children engaged in rainbow themed fun in their rooms. Yesterday a collaborative egg hunt and picnic in our garden was such a fun way to begin our Easter celebrations. We hope you all have a happy and safe Easter long weekend! Love your Tall Tree family x

11.01.2022 Loose Parts Play You’ve probably heard this referred to once or twice but what exactly is ‘loose part play’ and why is it so beneficial in a learning environment? Loose Parts are any loose, tactile and found objects that can be moved during play. They are versatile and open-ended pieces that can range from a nut and bolt, to a feather, to a pinecone. They are essentially any loose pieces or objects that can be redesigned or reconceptualised either on their own or when added t...o other loose parts to create a larger object. They are quintessentially a visual representation of your little one’s imagination which we think is pretty amazing. Loose parts encourage enquiry, exploration and experimentation, all wonderful foundations for further learning. You can easily replicate loose part play at home by taking a trip to Bunnings or a hardware store, a park, the beach or even just your backyard. Start exploring and creating today!

11.01.2022 What a wonderful response we've had to our Care Bags collection, we have been blown away by the generosity of our families and the donations you have brought in to the Centre for children in foster care. 10.01.2022 Another awesome day of fun activities for Day 2 of our Birthday Week Celebrations with a special visit from West Oz Wildlife. All of our children were visited by a cuddly koala and also got to get up close to a bobtail lizard, bearded dragon and some very friendly snakes! West Oz Wildlife aim to teach conservation through their fun educational displays that do not compromise the welfare of the animals. Our older children learnt about the developmental stages of a koala, animal habitats and what to do if they ever see a snake. Animal themed face painting was also on the agenda and the children have really enjoyed showing off their fun designs to their friends.

10.01.2022 Annually 27th May through to 3rd June marks National Reconciliation Week which adopts a different theme each year. The theme for 2020 - In this together - seems particularly relevant at this time considering recent events and experiences shared by the whole nation. National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. ...This week the children in our Nursery Room have been exploring different ways to incorporate the indigenous culture more into their everyday. They have created symbol stones using Noongar symbols and language for the children to explore whilst providing a wonderful way for them to learn to recognize and match. They have also started on a project to create aboriginal stacking towers using recycled materials and containers that can be utilised in their play each day. Following on from their previous program, the children also got to create a paint using mud and a little water colour. Using natures resources foraged from the storm together they created little paintbrushes that each child explored and used to create a shared work of art.

09.01.2022 This poppy inspired transient art experience in Kindy today is an extension of our ANZAC day inquiries. Through stories, songs and art we have started learning about the symbolism of the poppy. The non-permanent nature of transient art allows for materials to be moved, combined, redesigned, taken apart and explored as the children experiment with their creations.

09.01.2022 In Kindy we love clay! Our clay explorations started with our senses. What does clay feel like? Is it cool to the touch? How can you manipulate it? What happens when you poke it, squeeze it? What does it smell like? What happens when you add a little water? What sound does it make between your fingers? As the childrens relationship with clay developed, so did their skills. Soon they were creating intricate sculptures and prints representing coral reefs, mirroring the learning about habitats we have been doing in our room. This week, autumn leaves inspired the children to create clay leaf ornaments. Gumnuts, pinecones, and fallen leaves made the perfect tools as the children created their autumn prints. These were then painted with fall-inspired hues and are proudly displayed in our room.

08.01.2022 From our little Tall Tree family to all of yours, we hope you are having a wonderful Father's Day. Enjoy making some special memories with your loved ones.

05.01.2022 We have had so much fun celebrating Children's Week this week at Tall Tree Subiaco. We have shared stories, enjoyed games, explored sensory play, baked and worked together with our friends. Thank you so much for your support with the bake sale, $167 was raised for the Pyjama Foundation. Here are just some photos of our creepy (and cute) halloween festivities from today.

04.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. A day where we wear yellow and remember to check in on our friends, colleagues and loved ones. A small group of children from our Kindy Room celebrated this important day today by spreading some cheer and kindness around our community with flowers, cupcakes and smiles.

03.01.2022 Today at Tall Tree Subiaco we enjoyed our book character dress-up day! It was so much fun seeing what our friends and Educators had come dressed up as. Among other things we enjoyed special mat sessions; sharing and reading stories with our friends and letter recognition activities. Our Kindy children read Jack and the Beanstalk together before making their own 'castle in the clouds', just like in the story 'Reading and storytelling with children promotes brain development and imagination, teaches children about language and emotions, and strengthens a relationship'. - raisingchildren.net.au

02.01.2022 The projector in our Kindy Room was a catalyst for exploration this morning as the children experimented with combining different letters and finding the letters in their names.
