23.01.2022 PDT - Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) involves the application of a prescribed product and its interaction within cells with oxygen and light. Skin cells which have been damaged by the sun undergo a reaction when the product is applied, causing them to become sensitive to a particular wavelength of light. When the area is exposed to this light the damaged cells begin to die, allowing healthy, new skin cells to form.... These damaged cells come from solar, or sun damage. Prolonged periods in sunlight with no protection can lead to uneven, blotchy skin. If left untreated, these sunspots can have far more dangerous repercussions. Though there are obvious cosmetic benefits to the use of PDT, this treatment also holds long term health benefits. PDT can be used for a range of conditions, such as: Seborrheic keratoses Hypertrophic lesions Non-Hyperkeratotic keratoses Hidradenitis suppurtivia Cystic acne, acne vulgaris and generally oily skin Rosacea Sebaceous gland hyperplasia Psoriasis Warts Uneven skin tone, large pores, and fine lines
