25.01.2022 perseverance /psvr()ns/ noun persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success... Because usually it's just easier to give up. Which trait do you think is important for entrepreneurs? #Perseverance #Entrepreneur

24.01.2022 I think luck is the result of hard-work. Agree or disagree? #SophieKinsella #Drive

23.01.2022 Those who know me, know I'm ALL ABOUT THE HUSTLE. Working long hours, making personal sacrifices and putting work before most other things in life. And I wouldn't change it because without that hard-work I probably would've been another business statistic failure. These days I sleep more, eat better and party less but it's only because I'm older and wiser not because I've quit the hustle.... Are you all for the crazy work life or one of the new-age anti-hustlers? #Hustle

23.01.2022 So I did a shoot to get some photos for www.tamarahaddow.com and the new website currently underway for my other business www.blackdiamondagency.com and I'm so happy with the result! A special thank you to Wolfe St for working your magic behind the camera! And also to www.nourishmebeautiful.net for the epic hair and make-up. Even though I wasn't super keen on the idea of getting photos I'm so glad because now my personal brand online looks professional, cohesive and most importantly, up to date!

23.01.2022 I've worked from home for nearly 6 years and while there are SO many great things about it, it's not always peachy. Nothing beats face to face meetings, bouncing ideas off colleagues in person and real human interaction , so this is why I work partly from an office and partly from home - that way I get the best of both worlds! Which side are you on?... #OfficevsWFH #workfromhome @McCrindle Research

19.01.2022 According to McCrindle Research the average new business survives 4 years and 5 months. Do you think this is due to idea or execution? #BusinessFailures #SmallBusinessStatistics

17.01.2022 Social media tends to glamourize entrepreneurship these days, but those of us actually in the game know that it's more blood sweat and tears than it is Lambo's and island holidays. Don't let those MLM and crypto folk tell you otherwise. #businessmeme

17.01.2022 This is true except for those of us who have spent more than we'd like to admit buying domain names for all the business ideas we've had over the years.. #startupmemes #domainnames

13.01.2022 Businessman/woman vs entrepreneur - which one are you? #Entrepreneur #Businesswoman #Businessman

13.01.2022 If your business is in a highly impacted industry due to COVID, here are my 5 top tips to come out the other side in an excellent position: 1. Cut all the 'fat' from your expenses. These are costs that are unnecessary to run your business. They might have a benefit and are 'nice to have' but without them the business will NOT fail. (A post coming tomorrow on Muscle Vs Fat). 2. Don't stop marketing! You will likely need to re-jig your marketing strategy to ensure it is releva...nt but if you stop, risk being forgotten about and risk having to spend twice as much when you re-launch. 3. Finish your to-do list - you know all those things you wanted to do but never had time to do? Like write processes, identify internal areas of improvement, analyse customer touchpoints, do a competitor analysis etc? Well now is the time to do it! 4. Identify areas for improvement in your business. There's potentially things you want to improve in your business but need to cash to do it, so make sure you write a list in order of importance so as soon as you resume normal operations and have cash to spend, you know where you need to spend it. 5. Identify new services or 'add-ons'. Not all businesses can, or should, completely pivot but are there 'value ads' that you should start offering to your customers? What have you done to help your business get through COVID? #BusinessInRecession #BusinessTips #COVIDImpactedBusiness

10.01.2022 One time I underquoted a client by $40,000. How do I know? They replied saying, "Um, I don't think that's quite right." Maths has never been my strong suit OK, but $40,000, wtf was I doing?! ... When I got that email I died a little on the inside. What's the most cringe-worthy moment you've had in business? Please let it be worse than mine LOL #Cringeworthy

10.01.2022 15 Signs You're Scaling Your Company Too Quickly - this article is great at listing many of the pitfalls to avoid because scaling quickly can be a bad thing and could break your business. https://www.forbes.com//15-signs-youre-scaling-your-comp/

09.01.2022 MUSCLE VS FAT Your business expenses can be categorised as muscle vs fat. Muscle - necessary cost... Fat - unnecessary cost For example: Muscle - your accounting & payroll software, because without it you will have issues keeping up with client invoices/bills/payroll/BAS, PAYG & tax obligations. Fat - client and staff presents, because even though they have benefits in their own right, without them the business is not likely to fail. A simple thank you email or hand written card also goes a long way. So if you're trying to cut your expenses remember cut into the fat, not the muscle. #MuscleVsFat #ReducingExpenses #BusinessExpenses #SmallBusinessTip

09.01.2022 Bad customer service really grinds my gears. You're in a shop/cafe and the staff member sees you and chooses to finish what he or she is doing (re-stocking the fridge/putting away clothes) before serving you. Or you email a supplier for a quote and they don't reply for 5 days.... Umm, do you not want my freakin money?? One of the hardest parts of business is getting customers or leads and in these two scenarios these businesses have it in the palm of their hands, and they don't view it as a priority for them. Sorry, but what could be more important?? What is something that businesses do, that grinds your gears? #CustomerService

07.01.2022 A little background about me: I started my own business (www.blackdiamondagency.com) in my lounge room when I was 22 years old (apparently studying part-time at Uni and working 2 x jobs wasn't enough for me). I started Black Diamond Agency partly because I was bored but also because I saw a gap in the market. It was only ever supposed to be a side hustle but here I am nearly 11 years later as Managing Director of a company that employees over 500 casual staff, a team of inte...rnal staff and contractors, with over 400 clients, operating across all states of Australia. A few years ago I decided I wanted more formal education around business and my original University Degree - Bachelor Social Science (Criminal Justice) - just didn't cut it. So I went ahead and completed a Master of Commerce specialising in Business Law and Financial Planning. Many people debate the need for formal education as an entrepreneur but I have a love for learning and while running a business has taught me more than anything, the theory and strategic and analytical ways of thinking that Uni taught, has been invaluable. As a business owner I have experienced first-hand the challenges of starting a business, of scaling a business and now operating a business in a pandemic. And when I'm not running my own business I am reading about business, listening to a podcast about business, or writing my 657th business plan for a business idea I've had. I started this consulting business as my passion project. I love connecting with other business owners, hearing about their stories, understanding their problems and now I get to help solve them. It really is a dream job for me! Now tell me about you below! #BusinessOwner #Consultant #Entrepreneur

04.01.2022 Business Lesson #3 It took me probably 5 years to learn this lesson - don't let it take you this long! When I started out, I consistently undercharged for my services even though I had more work than I could physically handle. I just didn't think clients would pay higher rates to someone who was a rookie.... But then I realised I'm f**king awesome at what I do, and even though I WAS a rookie, I was still better than the majority of the people in my industry. Now this lesson has been learnt, I don't compete on price and if a client can find someone who'll do it cheaper, be my guest. If they don't want to pay fair rates for the best in the industry, that's their problem not mine. #KnowYourWorth #BusinessLesson

03.01.2022 "You are what you pay attention to" - Chris Bailey. I've just started reading Hyperfocus and so far I'm really into it! What book are you currently reading?... #HyperfocusBook #BusinessBook #ChrisBailey #Productivity

02.01.2022 Always choose being a good person over money. (This is actually a #LifeTip not just a #BusinessTip) Your personal and business reputation should be more important than a quick buck because you're in it for the long haul, and also because karma will get you.

01.01.2022 I'm notorious for setting goals WAY too high. I told someone once what my revenue goal was for the preceding 12 months and they told me it wasn't achievable and I needed to be more realistic. I said 'watch me.' I missed that revenue goal by $200,000 BUT the business grew by 30% that year. Hardly a failure #GoalSetting #BusinessLife #CrushingIt

01.01.2022 YES! This is because the advisor has already been there, done that and can advise best practices and common mistakes to avoid. They'll either save you time, money or both!... #BusinessAdvisor #BusinessConsultant
