23.01.2022 A sneaky little basket for lunch time at PX today. Beans and zucchini. (you have to say it like a jawa. "utini" look out! /Starwars)

16.01.2022 SO Ive decided I may as well make this public. I have no logo yet, its half way done, but so is the patch itself. Still more of a hobby than a fully functional vegetable deathstar, Im there every day and now you can be too!! (yeah I know) Most of what I produce is ending up at either PX Tapas Wine or Josef Chromy Wines at this stage with the rest ending up in wooden boxes for friends. Its not a bad gig.. Im growing everything in a way to try and maximise the end nutritio...nal content and of course, flavour. Most of it ends up looking pretty fantastic all on its own. (or an instagram filter maybe?) This means no chemicals or sprays, relatively low density plantings and balancing the soil rather than just adding fertiliser to stimulate different stages of plant growth. If youve had a chance to taste them, then I think you know how well its working. Anyhow, Ive rambled enough. Ill update the page as things move along and hopefully, you guys, my super internet friends, will stick with me along the way. D x http://instagram.com/p/hzBj6Ho_FI/

12.01.2022 The two ends of a controlled THG possum relocation operation. The least good place to be is in the wool sack, the best good position is definitely hanging off of dads shoulders. She almost choked me out with a decent arm bar mid release, could have been exciting. Happy Saturday. D and e

10.01.2022 Beets. White ones, cylindrical ones. I love them. So do frogs and possums. (Stupid possums)

09.01.2022 http://instagram.com/p/j_iEVvo_Pp/ Frogs. I think I have all of the frogs living in the silverbeet.

06.01.2022 Its been a tough few weeks at the patch. Possums pretty much wiped out the carrots and beetroot in 3 days while I was moving house. Once they got a taste of the good stuff it was all gone and everything else including apples in the traps were ignored. I was just too busy with work and moving to correct things and just went emotional zombie mode until I had the time and energy to commit. Thats involved pulling all the plantings of beets and carrots except the very young one...s. (which had been eaten down to the ground but not dug up) I had the amazing help of my beautiful brother (@thehollerpatch on IG) and Monmon, and I couldnt have gotten it all done without them. They slaved away for two very hot Tassie days which allowed me to get some jobs done, like finishing the A Frames and pulling and saving a lot of seed. Ive trapped and relocated 14 possums in the last 10 days and I seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel now. (stop possums not boats) At first, with no more beetroot around to gorge on they started going for the hearts of my rainbow chard, either ripping the smaller plants out of the ground or digging down and eating them through, ignoring the leaves. That behaviors stopped now, thankfully. Fingers crossed. Please please please. Yesterday I felt like I came face to face with the boss possum whos called Tony. He was incredibly aggressive and looked me in the eyes and did that scream they do. Ear piercing. He was the size of a Wombat. I told him he was being a dick and manhandled him into the sack for relocation over the river. So.... feeling rejuvenated this week now things are back under control, just dropped a giant order of parsley off to PX for Festival this weekend, garnished with zuccs and purple beans. Next jobs are the fences and netting the tomatoes, which are looking amazing, thanks for asking. D

03.01.2022 The sun has been shining this week and the zucchini just keeps on going ballistic. The difference between each plant is fascinating. Whether its growth habit, leaf markings, colour or fruit size. They all get the job done but each of them in a slightly different way.
