19.01.2022 Breakfast The most important meal of the day Right? This one is for the people who answered no on my poll - don't worry, previously I would never eat breakfast, now I struggle without it! Benefits of breakfast ... Breaks your overnight fast Refuels your energy stores and gives you energy for the day. Kickstarts your metabolism Helps avoid overeating during other meals throughout the day. Here are a few simple things that can help you fit in a breakfast: Get out of bed 15-30minutes prior to what you do now, this gives you 15-30 more minutes in the morning to wake up, feel fresh and prepare and eat breakfast. Have your morning coffee AFTER your breakfast coffee can suppress your appetite, which in turn makes you skip meals. Something is better than nothing, start small I started off with having a piece of fruit to start my day, slowly my body adapted to eating earlier and now I crave my avo and egg on toast or peanut butter and strawberries on toast in the morning Cook something the night or day prior so you can just grab and go. (Overnight oats or Zucchini slice would be perfect) Have some sort of breakfast already stored at work so you can have something with you there.



07.01.2022 Coconut oil ~ a healthy option... right?? Many people are shocked when I say coconut oil, is not actually the healthy option when it comes to oil. Fats help our body: regulate body temp, protect organs, provides energy and supports cell growth, assist absorption of nutrients and the production of hormones. Here we can compare Coconut oil, with EVOO. In simple terms, have two different types of fat in the food we consume. Healthy, and the less healthy. (These are broken do...wn into sub groups- but let’s keep it easy!) Healthy fats are called unsaturated fats (or Low Density Lipoproteins), they help remove cholesterol from the blood stream reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and provide benefits listed above (Avocado, EVOO, nuts and fish) Less healthy fats are called saturated fats (or High Density Lipoproteins), they higher cholesterol in the body which can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and increase the risk of obesity. (butter, the fat on meat products, coconut oil and cheese). These should be consumed in moderation. Just at a glance you can compare these two oils, Coconut oil has 94.5g of saturated fat . EVOO has 13.9g!
