24.01.2022 Congratulations to Christian and Kyan who competed in the Coles Summer Carnival. Kyan equalled his high jump PB and Christian came second in the 1500m. Both boys represented our club with great sportsmanship and Christian showed terrific leadership by coaching Kyan.

Be sure to get your nomination into your Centre before the clo...sing date so you don't miss out on your opportunity to compete. These Championships are open to all LAQ registered U7-U17 athletes, with U9 U17 athletes having the opportunity to progress to the McDonald’s State Championships held in March. Please check the Calendar on the LAQ website for dates, venues, programs and more information for each Region.

18.01.2022 Today our little club has some BIG news. We are very proud to congratulate Christian on being selected into the LAQ team for the NZ development tour in January. Only 10 boys and 10 girls were selected from across the state. Christian, all that hard work and extra effort that you always put in is paying off for you. Well done!

In a race, (see picture), athlete Abel Mutai representing Kenya, was just a few feet from the finish line, but he was confused... with the signage & stopped thinking he had completed the race. The Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez was right behind him & realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't know Spanish didn't understand. Then the Spanish pushed him to victory. A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life". The journalist insisted "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win". The journalist insisted again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him & replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honour of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?" 04.01.2022 STAR IN A LITTLE ATHLETICS NATIONAL CAMPAIGN! Athletes between the ages of 6-13 who love to hurdle, shotput, sprint, jump, throw a javelin or even run long dist...ances, are wanted for this very special event. At this stage the filming will take place from the 8 10th July 2020 however this may change slightly depending on the athletes availability. You also need to be at your best early, because we will be shooting during and just after sunrise on the first two days. If this is you, please send in a picture and a few words telling us why you would love to be involved to: [email protected] and [email protected] You must be available for your starring performance, but also for a mock competition being shot on the Gold Coast on the 10th of July (date may shift depending on each athletes availability) All shoot days will be half days.
