21.01.2022 Last night one of our Firefighters, Kristi received her NSW Bushfire Emergency Citation for efforts during the 2019-2020 bushfires whilst on deployment in NSW. Two other members, John H and Peta have also received this citation but were not present at training to receive theirs.

21.01.2022 As NAIDOC week draws to a close we want to share with you what we got up to a few weeks ago. Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire Brigade ran a workshop for our members in conjunction with Firesticks and invited firefighters from all over the area to be involved. Due to COVID there were only limited numbers but there was a huge interest. This workshop was facilitated by a local fire practitioner and Tamborine Mountain Firefighter Leeton Lee, along side Victor Stephenson from Fires...ticks. There was a guest appearance by local elder Uncle Steve Watson who did the welcome to country for the workshop. There were many points of discussion on the day where many questions were asked and answered with great knowledge. Victor and Leeton discussed why burning at the right time is important for different ecosystems and why we should avoid burning for hazard reduction alone. They talked about how the right fire for country makes it resilient to wildfires and strenthens the lands natural abilities to fight off invasive species and animals. With many points drawn back to the 2019-2020 bushfires. Also discussed was the various relationships between the seedbank, grasses, trees, animals and people and why its important to have indigenous community involved and leading the custodianship of the land. This workshop was run at a great success and in the not too distant future will probably be run for the community which has also had a great interest. We are proud to have our indigenous members running, leading and teaching our members about hazard reduction burns in a traditional way.

01.01.2022 Yesterday we were called to assist Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to extricate an injured patient from Cedar Creek Falls along side Fire and Rescue from Tamborine Mountain and Logan Village as well as members from the Scenic Rim SES Unit. A multi-agency effort where many hands made light work. Well done to everyone involved!
