17.01.2022 Year 4 students tested their EGGcellent packages today. Students had to design and make an environmentally friendly package for an egg to be delivered via drone. Students had to determine what properties their package would need and throughout the term tested materials to see which would be most appropriate for their package. Today we tested the packages. We decided to set up a mock flight path (zip line) to ensure it was a fair test when we were testing packages for impact because flying the drone proved to be more difficult than was expected. With only 3 broken eggs all day it's fair to say their packages were EGGceptional!
16.01.2022 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our TMSS families & friends from Mr Smith and DPs, Mrs de Bruyn and Mr Kennon.

15.01.2022 Year 6 Science See below photos from the Year 6 Science solar cookies. They were baked completely using energy from sun. The light was reflected from the reflective panels to the dark coloured glass evacuated tube that trapped the heat. The light energy converted to heat energy baking the cookies at 180 degrees C. They were also captivated by the segments of the Big Weather documentary on ABC iview showing causes and impacts of bushfires and floods on local communities and how to prepare for such disasters. Thanks to Liam’s dad Mick for producing such an informative documentary.

09.01.2022 Year 4 rainforest/ butterfly incursion Today year 4 students investigated the special section of rainforest on TMSS grounds with Landcare president Judith Roland and the very special endangered Richmond Birdwing Butterfly vine with entomologist Richard Bull. The students discovered both yellow and darker coloured butterfly eggs and some young and mature caterpillars ( larvae). One larvae even poked out his green horns and emitted an odour as he felt threatened.. Students also... created a colourful nature bracelet and leaf rubbing using the old butterfly leaves. Fantastic geography and science in action. Thank Richard and Judy for donating your time and sharing your knowledge with us. Thank you also to Woolworths Landcare Group for your donation of $1000, which was a great contribution towards establishing our Birdwing Butterfly learning environment. Mrs Churchill and year 4 teachers

08.01.2022 TMSS is a progressive school which embodies the ethos of sustainability, environmental biodiversity, waste management and reducing, reusing and recycling. This term many of our classes have been studying Australian wildlife, their habitats, life cycles and the impact humans are having on their environments. This short doco is a startling reminder that as a generation we have the ability to affect change and to influence our children through education and role modelling. It’s never been so prevalent as it is now. This is something you may like to share and discuss with your children over the holidays. Don’t forget our recycling bin (near tennis court) is open over the holidays for you to deposit your used cans, juice boxes and bottles. Mr Smith

02.01.2022 Today our entire school farewelled our graduating Year 6s in a traditional Guard of Honour. This rite-of-passage is our special way of saying goodbye, good luck, but don’t forget us! It also marked an era where 70 of our 104 Yr6 families had a graduating youngest child, so not only is the child leaving, but also the family. Some families have been with us for over 16 years. We will miss you and treasure the times we had together. Mr Smith and TMSS Staff
