22.01.2022 Day 1. Some Australian bird life in a bright colour. I have limited availability in surgery these next 2 weeks. We have a female GP here with us from interstate who is on a mutual trial. Please take the opportunity to book with her. Meanwhile I won't actually have my feet up. 14.01.2022 Meet Our owner and director Dr Julian Fox My years in General Practice in the UK saw many changes and developed 3 linked surgeries in North East England. Our 11 years in Au has now taken me into surgical work, for skin cancer and vasectomy. And in the last 2 years back into starting and running new surgeries. Dr Julian Fox is an experienced GP with an interest in Dermatology He consults at Tamborine and Yarrabilba for dermatology problems with telehealth support from Dr Ben Carew, Dermatologist General Practice, Dermatology, Skin Cancer & Vasectomy Surgeon.

14.01.2022 WHAT IS PDT, AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR? Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-surgical treatment for superficial types of skin cancer. PDT is effective in treating actinic keratoses (precancerous sun spots) intraepithelial carcinomas (IECs/Bowen’s disease), and superficial basal cell carcinomas (early superficial skin cancers).... First the GP or dermatologist gently scrapes the area with a curette to remove any dry skin or crusting. Then the light-sensitive cream is applied, and after three hours a special light is shined onto the area for about eight minutes. The area is covered with a bandage. For skin cancers, PDT is usually repeated after a week. What to expect after: Side effects can include redness and swelling, which usually ease after a few days. PDT commonly causes a burning, stinging or tender feeling in the treatment area, particularly to the face. Your doctor may treat you with a cold water spray or pack, or give you a local anaesthetic to help ease any discomfort. Contact us to find out more...

08.01.2022 Thank you to The Bone Bus for coming out today and tomorrow to provide our local community this amazing opportunity. A bone density test is the only test that can diagnose osteoporosis before a broken bone occurs. This test helps to estimate the density of your bones and your chance of breaking a bone. NOF recommends a bone density test of the hip and spine by a central DXA machine to diagnose osteoporosis. DXA stands for dual energy x-ray absorptiometry.
