21.01.2022 After much consideration we have made the decision to postpone the Bondi2Berry Ride to Remember to Saturday 5 December 2020. This decision has been made with th...e health and safety of all attendees in mind, including our riders, volunteers and event crew, as well as the communities we visit along the way to Berry. During these unprecedented times, we have tried to remain positive about the environment and challenges being faced by us all. We hope that by postponing this great event to later in the year we will be in a better position to host the 5th Bondi2Berry ride and continue to raise aware of dementia, the second leading cause of death of Australians and the leading cause of death of Australian women. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our valued and committed sponsors as without your generous contributions this event will not be able to take place. To our registered riders, please refer to the newsletter which has been distributed and please get in touch if you have any questions. We will see you on the bike again soon.

20.01.2022 As part of our first Animal Appreciation Week, today we are celebrating International Cat Day (8 August). Jason’s mum Hendrika, who lives with both Alzheimer’s ...disease and vascular dementia, maintains a degree of independence living in her granny flat with her much loved cat. This is Hailey. Or Deli. Or Soefy. Her name varies every day, and we kinda like it that way. She's a wonderful companion pet for my mum, Hendrika. She's a house cat and never ventures outside, a good home isolation buddy for Mum. She's more than just a pet; she's a great passive listener, a seat warmer and little bundle of affection during those quieter moments in the day. Her presence in our home makes Mum feel safe and less alone. Having a pet has made a significant difference to Mum's ability to continue her matriarchal role she lived for so many years.... but rather than having a house with her own children and husband to rule, she now has Hailey! This week we are sharing stories from Dementia Australia Dementia Advocates about the impact that their pets and assistance animals have had on their lives. 10.01.2022 Today should have been the Bondi2Berry ride for Dementia Australia, now postponed until (hopefully ) December. Took the bike out early to get some nice Canberra sun pictures this morning and think about the ride that should have been. Not able to visit Sydney for group training rides at the moment due to COVID, so I’ll just have to get back into a training plan for December.
