25.01.2022 The week that was .... Do you have children? If so, are they continually wanting to explore new business ventures? My 13 year old daughter Aiva has had three business ventures so far. ... Ice-cream Eateria. At 4 years old she started making ice cream and sold it to anyone who stepped foot in our home. Who can resist a 4 year old right? Plantacious. At 10 years old, she moved to a new level. She propagated plants from our garden to sell. This time she made beautiful labels for the pots, created a logo and tagline and started a Facebook page to sell her stock. She created quite a following with her weekly posts of plant jokes and how to take care of your plants. Aiva Bakes. Now 13, this is where the passion is truly shining through because she’s doing what she loves most. Baking! This week she was bombarded with orders for the treats she bakes, and she is in her element. She has been catering for Tammy’s Table meetings for several months now (paid of course) and asked if I could perhaps see if anyone would like to buy some of her products. I have watched her process and organise 21 orders this week and she has amazed me with her organisation, her drive and her passion. Wez (AKA Dad) took her shopping for some drawers to organise her packaging and orders and she has set herself up with bags labelled and ribbons cut in advance. She is diligently counting her takings and crossing off her orders as they are delivered. Why do I share this with you? Because if your child is showing signs of wanting to start a business venture, I encourage you to go with it and teach them as many skills as you can. Do not overthink it. Just let them roll with it and explain to them the basics of business. They may give up in a week and they may change their business ideas time and time again ... but it may just be the beginning of an entrepreneurial mindset that can take them to great places in the future. If Aiva can support herself by doing the things she loves in the future, she will be set for life. I am pretty sure you want this for your children too

23.01.2022 Mikal Howard Finance is a boutique finance and mortgage broking business in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs, helping clients source great loan options for many purposes. Mikal says: "I've been a member of Tammy's Table for about 18 months now. I have really enjoyed mixing with business owners from many different industries. It's comforting to hear that other business owners have similar issues, complaints and needs that I find within my own business. We all just want to grow... and improve our businesses and having Tammy as our facilitator, coach, consultant and friend goes a long way to making that journey a lot less scary. The accountability and honest feedback I get from Tammy and the rest of the group is why I will continue coming back. I highly recommend Tammy and Tammy's Table." Thanks so much for the lovely feedback Mikal, I love the perspective and ideas that YOU bring to the Tammy's Table community.

17.01.2022 Hey guys! Aiva here (Tammy's daughter)! I know being stuck in isolation with your kids can be a bit of a struggle when your trying to get your work done, so I decided to make a 5 day challenge for the kids! Today is a photo challenge! There are 30 different photos that they need to take. The challenge is attached to this post. Simply print it out for them. I'd love to see a photo of them doing it or encourage them to share a photo they take so I can see! Hopefully this helps you get some work done. Thank You! See you tomorrow.

17.01.2022 Every so often (well okay often!) I like to give a shout out to our local businesses. Today I visited A Life Of Plenty’s pop-up shop. A beaut new start up in SA who is going great guns just 6 weeks in! Check out her online store for amazing garnishes and gift packs that are affordable and look incredible. I was super impressed today! Love a new business story!!! A life of plenty

16.01.2022 And just like that, the year is almost over! I will be taking a break from Friday 18th December and will be back on deck from Monday 21st January. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone I have worked with over the past 12 months. While it has been a very challenging year in many ways, I have had an amazing year working with a brilliant bunch of business owners.... I can't wait to do it all again in 2021!

16.01.2022 The week that was ... I am sad to see how many of us in business don’t make time for ourselves. We have all heard the flight attendant say fit your own oxygen mask before fitting others, yet I would be surprised to see half my clients follow these instructions if there was an emergency. ... This week in particular I have spent a lot of time mapping out ideal calendars with clients to put structure and tools in place to move them towards what they would ideally like to see happen, and to give them a visual of what’s currently going on for them. My aim is to help them create a balance between business and pleasure. We start by working out what personal appointments need to go in first. The must do stuff at a certain time each day. While I’d love to see a trip to the gym or the beauty parlour thrown in for good measure, it generally revolves only around children’s activities, the school runs and the puppy training. I create a colour for the chart called me time and I see them shift uneasily in their chair. Some even look like they’ll break out in a sweat. Trying to get my clients to slot in time for themselves and be okay with it is the biggest challenge, and for some, still a work in progress. (Note to clients: no, we are not done yet!) This week I completed a 365 day challenge called Tam's Gap Year. I made myself accountable to ‘fill my bucket’ daily and posted it on Instagram. Believe it or not, it really wasn’t that hard once I consciously focused on it. Sometimes it was a simple 15 minute walk because it was all I could squeeze in, and other times it was something more significant like a girls' weekend away. Holding myself accountable EVERY DAY for a year to do something that made me feel good was an incredible experience. I encourage you all to fit your oxygen mask first. Take a look at your calendar and make some time for you. Remind yourself who you were before children, before the business and before the guilt kicked in. If I can do it, so can you

15.01.2022 Many of my clients show me a look of fear when I ask them to show the face behind their businesses. The nervous rash appears. The excuses come out and every so often, I even see tears. Yet once they show their face, they see a significant improvement in the engagement of their clients (both on social media and via email). To build trust around your brand, I encourage you to show your community the face behind your product or service. ... Seeing a face behind the brand shows your community that you are in fact human just like them. There is a lot of good that comes from showing your face on your social media, your website and your email footers. Be relatable by being real. With all the automation available these days, this is the time to show your face and let your followers know that there are real people in your business. Showcase your team. Showcase yourself. Show your face.

14.01.2022 The week that was ... Lessons learned from a lockdown. Check all scheduled social media posts so they’re appropriate for what is currently going on (I’m glad I did this)... Always be prepared for 12 hours notice of a lockdown. Consider adding a list to your risk management plan for the future of things to be done immediately Create and retain alternative ways to service your clients (eg Zoom accounts, online training tools etc) Create a list of things to do both personally and in business to keep your mind occupied during idle times Be gentle on yourself and remember it’s okay to pause if that’s what you need to do (personally that one is a struggle for me) Check in with your extroverted friends. We don’t cope too well with lockdowns Be around friends (if possible) when the news is announced. I swear this prevented tears and a whole lot of anxiety for me. Thank you for being there ladies. I’m glad we spent the afternoon together while we pivoted, cancelled and rescheduled meetings. While our family and business has come out of this relatively unscathed (and I am ever so grateful for this), I know many haven’t. This week will be full of business owners scrambling to reset and recover. Please be kind and patient while they get their heads around what needs to be done. Sending you all so much positivity and support for the week ahead.

13.01.2022 Who would have thought that this gift is a result of ‘social distancing’? Social distancing was just one of the many challenges the business community faced this year and for Tammy’s Table, social distancing meant we had to scramble to find a new space for our meetings because our previous location could not accommodate our group numbers. I am ever so grateful to Mortgage Choice Adelaide CBD for offering me the perfect space to host Tammy’s Table meetings. They have been incr...edibly welcoming and accommodating, and I cannot thank them enough for their generosity! One of the many wonderful things about Mortgage Choice is their ongoing support for Ronald McDonald House. This is such an amazing organisation, and I decided to show my gratitude by donating these toys and gifts to Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House told me that it has been difficult for parents to shop for Christmas because they must be so careful about infection control. They are also in and out of hospital so much, it can be hard for them to find the time for shopping. They are setting up their own magic cave so the children can choose their own toys. Thank you to the many Tammy’s Table members who contributed to this donation. It has been a tough year for all of us, but some families are facing extra challenges and this is just something small we could do to help.

10.01.2022 Hand on heart I am so humbled to see multiple nominations for the SA Woman award in the Connection Award Category in my inbox. As most of my friends and clients know, my life purpose is to bring people together and inject direction, motivation and fun into their lives. I spend most of my time organising events, referring people and creating genuine connections with like-minded people, whether it be through business or pleasure. I’m also known for being a great delegator and outsourcer, but on this occasion, I am going to put my own energy and my whole heart into this submission myself because the category means so much to me. Reading the comments in the nominations confirms that I am living my purpose every day and that is what I want for everyone. Life your life on purpose and create your legacy

07.01.2022 This one gave me all the feels. <3 Thank you Ilona, working with you is a dream and I can't wait to see you take Caprice Cars Chauffeured Vehicles to the next level.

07.01.2022 Hey it's Aiva again. Well it looks like we won't need to keep your kids amused after today, because we are coming out of lockdown. But here's something to keep them busy today. The challenge is to find something around the house starting with each letter of the alphabet and write it on the sheet attached. Have fun and I'd love to hear how they go!

05.01.2022 Tammy's Tuesday Tip ... Be willing to listen. This month I am focusing specifically on leadership, and listening is a particularly valuable leadership skill.... Listen to your team with the sole purpose of understanding. When employees express an idea or an anxiety, they need to feel you are truly listening, and that you are absorbing their words with a caring spirit, in a non-judgmental way, with the intention of helping them.

04.01.2022 Tam’s Tuesday Tip: PICK UP THE PHONE Can you remember back when we couldn’t hide behind a phone or laptop? We all love the convenience of text messages and email (myself included) but seriously ... a keyboard cannot have a conversation. ... Please PICK UP THE PHONE. Talk to your clients and customers and build rapport. Create a relationship with them beyond technology. Let them hear your voice, your passion for what you do, and your desire to help them. You may think that email is more efficient, but if you’re really honest with yourself you’ll know that it can actually suck more of your time. The back and forth, the following up, the flagging reminders, and the waiting for responses. It is all so time-consuming and unproductive. Pick up the phone, answer questions, have a conversation and get fast results. Perhaps THIS can be your point of difference.

03.01.2022 Happy International Podcast Day! I'm a big fan of podcasts, I love that I can listen and learn while I'm exercising or doing mundane tasks. Some of my recent favourites include:... Save my Business by Jason Cunningham Crappy to Happy by Cass Dunn Aussie Firebug Let me know if you have any others you would recommend!

01.01.2022 Awww, another lovely review, this time from Esther of Successful Resumes Adelaide. Thank you so much Esther, I can't wait to work with you again! <3

01.01.2022 Many of my clients become overwhelmed when starting to build procedures and templates into their business. We work together to create a big picture of the workflow for each item in their business, but then break it down into bite-sized tasks to reduce that overwhelmed feeling. My tip to you is to follow these 5 simple steps to get you on the road to a streamlined business: ... Look at the big picture Examine the parts (or pieces) of the task Think about the logical order of completing the pieces Create a timeline for completing your tasks Have a plan to help you stay on track or a coach to keep you accountable

01.01.2022 The week that was ... Saying no is hard when you want to help so many ... so I’ve decided to reframe no and simply say not now. When I decided to sell my business and pursue my passion to help others get better at business, I never dreamed that I would have a waiting list within a year. But this week that’s exactly what happened. ... With 6 new clients signing up for regular coaching sessions this week, I am now at capacity. Am I working full time? Not at all. But I’m working within the boundaries I set myself so I can still enjoy my semi-retirement. It was a tough call, but appointments creeping into time I’ve set aside for myself and my family is simply not an option. I recognise that I can’t be at my best for my existing clients if I’m not enjoying what I’m doing, and if I don’t get enough me time. At some point, one of my existing clients will feel confident enough in themselves and their business that they won’t need me anymore, or circumstances will change. This means that eventually I will be able to help those on the waiting list. And if they can’t wait, that’s okay. To every one of my regular clients, I send the biggest thank you. Thank you for believing in me and believing in yourselves. The brake pedal has been applied so I can be at my best for you. Keep kicking goals (it fills my bucket big time). Big thanks to Grier Nielson of Bohemian Ekko Creative for my updated brand photos, with styling by Stephanie Vaughan of Infinite Styling. <3
