25.01.2022 THE BIGGEST OF THANK YOU’s to Troy @proud_chippy and Gezza, aka TK Building Solutions. They worked tirelessly all day (and yes it is a Sunday) to make sure we had our new moveable walls constructed before we reopen this Thursday. You guys are the best! These walls create a lovely space at the front of the shop that still feels airy and light ... rather than cavernous and empty ... while we’ve temporarily restricted our seating. After that we will use them for events and to create more hanging space for art. COVID-19 is many things, but it has also forced us to re think what we do and how we do it ... sometimes with surprisingly rejuvenating results x

23.01.2022 HOLE IN THE WALL/WINDOW...COMING SOON! A very major step in our big rearrange has been to shift the coffee machine to the very front of the shop. It’s now sitting on Al’s beautiful bench, and perfectly positioned to take orders and pass out coffees through our new ‘hole in the window’ (coming very soon). This means you don’t even have to step through the doors if you’d prefer to remain outside. Moving the machine is a pretty big deal, and has only been possible because the incredibly wonderful Murray Gow (aka Gow’s Plumbing and Air Conditioning) made time for us, despite his crazy work schedule. Thanks Murray! Not sure if @tombanders is helping or hindering here, but as you can see we are a bit excited! And yes we will now be serving filter coffee too ...

21.01.2022 OPEN TOMORROW! Well it’s been a BIG few weeks but finally we can say that the doors will open tomorrow from 8am for coffee, cakes, bread, takeaway sandwiches and sausage rolls, take home meals (lasagne!) and more. You can come and see us in the store or order online via Bopple - more details to come on this. Home delivery is available too...and...we’ll now be open seven days a week from 8am to 2pm. See you soon!

16.01.2022 WAFFLES The famous @flemingberries waffles served with @gustogelateria vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, poached rhubarb grown by @gillianmertens delicately flavoured with rose geranium from @tombanders garden. So utterly delicious - and so nourishing for the soul to see the hard work of our good friends pulled together on a plate xx PS more pastries on the counter today too!

03.01.2022 CLOSED TOMORROW (MONDAY) + COVID-19 UPDATE Thank you so much to all our lovely customers for your support and love this week as we navigated re-opening under the COVID-19 requirements for hospitality businesses. The best thing about the week without a doubt was seeing you all! It made us realise just how much we missed our conversations and laughs. It was so good to feel the space humming again. The hardest thing was that the changes to our internal processes are genuinely ...tricky. We’ve spent a lot of time after every shift identifying what works and what doesn’t. As such we’ve decided to close the shop tomorrow so we can make even more improvements ahead of the lifting of the 20 patron limit next Monday (yay!) Thanks again and we’ll see you on Thursday with coffee, cakes and a beautiful extended savoury menu x PS Happy birthday for tomorrow Maddy!

My goodness so much deliciousness today - mountains of incredible made-this-morning pastries from Francesco and Luca @gustogelateria (including chocolate croissants, danishes and incredible flaky apple pockets) AND the famous @flemingberries waffles served with roasted rhubarb, ice cream and maple syrup Cakes, brioches and lots of other goodness too, both sweet and savoury. And of course, Tom’s delicious coffee...hopefully see you soon! x

02.01.2022 YES, EVERY SINGLE DAY. We’ve wanted to do this for a long time and now feels like the right time. Just a reminder too that home delivery day is Friday. We deliver, completely free of charge, for orders over $50 and within 20km of Korumburra, and will leave your goodies on your doorstep. Search for The Borough Dept Store on Bopple to place your order. You can also order ‘drive by’ coffee and/or lunch and cakes via Bopple, just leave us a note in your order to deliver to your car ... and we will! Anxious times but we stand by our processes, and we are here for you. Just let us know what you need and we will do our utmost to make it happen. Hang in there
