24.01.2022 New member spotlight! Peel Inn Hotel has been a friendly drinking hole for locals and a welcoming destination for travellers for over 150 years. It is a gold rush pub, built by William McIlveen in 1860 after the discovery of the precious metal at Hanging Rock. William no doubt hoped to grow prosperous as prospectors spent their money in his establishment. Unfortunately it didnt work out as planned. Not long after opening his pub, he lost it in a card game. The new owner was John Schofield. Fourth generation publican Robert Schofield has run the hotel for the past 40 years with his wife Margaret and more recently with their sons Drew and Nathan.

17.01.2022 OFFICIAL STATEMENT - PROPOSED CANCELLATION TCMF Tamworth Business Chamber is tremendously saddened by the news there will likely be no Country Music Festival hosted in 2021. This will be a dark but sadly unavoidable day for the Tamworth business community as we will likely join a long list of festivals and events cancelled around the world due to COVID-19. ... Based on Tamworth Regional Councils own Event Impact Assessment Model, the average Festival attendee spends $151 per person, per day over the 10 days of the Festival. This accounts for more than $105 million being injected into our local economy each year. Every business in the country has been impacted by COVID-19 in one way or another but few sectors have been as hard hit, or face a longer road to recovery, than the hospitality and travel industries. We anticipate the loss of TCMF will have a catastrophic impact on the accommodation sector in our region. Our message to all levels of government is simple - government assistance for rural and regional business during the pandemic, especially for sectors like the hospitality and travel industries, is non-negotiable. We are calling upon Tamworth Regional Councils Economic Development Team to be more visible in this crisis and to work with Tamworth Business Chamber and the wider business community to identify ways to mitigate the socio-economic impact that will come with the temporary hiatus of TCMF. In accordance with Blueprint 100, we support the need to build resilience across the entire tourism supply chain by strengthening our tourism offering beyond country music and adopting a robust sport and event attraction strategy. It is our hope that the Tamworth community will continue to show their support for local business by shopping local and practising safe social distancing. Importantly, we encourage everyone to aid in our regions recovery with a positive narrative designed to build Tamworths reputation rather than tear it down - #heretostay #destinationtamworth #sociallydistanttogether Tamworth Business Chamber will host a crisis meeting with the local Moteliers Associations in coming weeks.

Theres so much to do and love about our beautiful Destination Tamworth region! Check out Escapes article below from their recent visit.
