21.01.2022 TAMWORTH MUSICAL SOCIETY LOOKS TO 2021 FOR ITS GREAT COME BACK Tamworth Musical Society (TMS) are saddened to announce that their second show in the Capitol Theatre Season 2020, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has been rescheduled to October/November 2021. This is the second TMS show that has moved into next year’s calendar as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic following the rescheduling of their May production (this time Mamma Mia!) into a March 2021 programme...d position. Mitch Alcorn, President of Tamworth Musical Society said, We are extremely saddened by the postponement of both our productions for 2020. The ongoing interval that the live entertainment industry is experiencing and the uncertainty on when we will be able to welcome our full audiences back to the theatre or our wonderful volunteer society members back to our rehearsal room has unfortunately led to this decision. We are really looking forward to returning to the stage with Mamma Mia in March 2021 and getting the audition process underway for Sweeney Todd. Tamworth Musical Society has been entertaining the Tamworth region since 1888. The last time they had a none show year was in 1968 due to television becoming widely available in homes. Prior to this, productions were only paused because of World War II and the outbreak of Spanish influenza in 1919.

NOW RESCHEDULED TO NEW SEASON DATES 5 - 20 MARCH 2021 Tamworth Musical Society was set for an enormous opening night for Mamma Mia! and it was actually supposed to be tonight!! ... Like the rest of the world, it was put on hold and the cast and crew did their bit, isolating to help make our region safe. Busting to get back to rehearsals and to celebrate the opening night that wasn't, or isn't yet, we put together this little video - giving you a peek into our world in isolation as we wait for the time that we can once again entertain audiences at the Capitol Theatre.
