22.01.2022 Did you know that Kikuyu is a hard wearing turf type that can tolerate high traffic from kids and pets? from TPT farm

22.01.2022 Another happy customer with some fresh Santa Ana Couch from our farm!

20.01.2022 It's been awhile since we posted onto our page, but we have definitely been doing the hard yards behind the scenes. We would like to let everyone know that is thinking of purchasing turf before Christmas, for any project, that we now have available at the farm, Santa Ana couch and kikuyu turf. We are aiming for production of our Matilda buffalo for autumn of next year, but we have weekly supplies still coming up from Sydney. Anybody in need of turf, from 1 m2- 000's m2, should try and book in early, as December is generally the busiest month of the year for turf cutting, and the last month before the heat of summer really arrives. Please call 0437465055 for sales or advice. TNT.

19.01.2022 Excited to post our first harvest today of Santa Ana couch. (Planting stock only) It has been a long tough summer and TPT is progressing well and hope to be in full production within the next 12 months. I'd like to thank everyone for their support over the past 7 months, and if anyone is still requiring turf before the winter sets in, we have weekly supply's of Matilda buffalo, couch and kikuyu grass still coming up from windsor. TPT

15.01.2022 3 week update from renovations. Coming back really well, and some good growing weather to come. At 4 weeks, this lawn will just about have full recovery. And much easier to mow!

15.01.2022 TopDressing After dethatching and fertilising your lawn, it is now the perfect time for top dressing. Top dressing should be completed by the October long weekend, before the heat starts to arrive, as it can cook your soil to very high temperatures and quickly wilt the grass leaf, making the recovery process a lot harder. This lawn has been down for 18 months and is in need of topdressing for some major sinkage along irrigation and drainage lines, and also to level out the r...est of the area. After a short mow, these areas are very visible. I have used an organic underlay type soil for the drainage and irrigation lines. Organic soil is great for filling holes and depressions in turf. Organic soils give great nutrition to turf from top dressing, although if used too heavy will smother the leaf of the plant and cause damage to the plant instead of benefitting. The rest of the lawn was top dressed with a loamy sand. About 1.5m3 of sand was spread, giving the whole area about 5-10mm of fresh soil. Sand rubs into the crown of the plant much better than organic soil, this exposes more grass leaf available for sunlight, which in turn enables faster and more efficient recovery. The minerals in sand are also a major benefit to the health of turf plants. After spreading evenly across the area, I rubbed it all in with a lawn level, to try and push the sand into areas needed. I then gave it a once over with a stiff bristle broom, to try and expose as much grass leaf as possible. I will go over it with the broom 2-3 more times over the next week. That's pretty much all that is needed for now. I will post weekly pictures of the recovery and I expect this lawn to be looking very lush over the next 3-4 weeks. See more

14.01.2022 Watering the first section of freshly planted turf.

12.01.2022 Freshly laid Santa Ana Couch!!

10.01.2022 4 weeks after de-thatching, 3 weeks after topdressing. This lawn had its first trim today and is good to go for the summer.

09.01.2022 Today an idea became a reality. After 10 months of planning, we finally sowed our first acre today. We trialled our new (second hand) machinery and had relative success after a week where I didn't think Mother Nature would allow it to happen. We plan to sow for the next couple of months and we are bringing turf to Tamworth and the surrounding areas weekly. We are currently taking customer orders if any one is looking for a new lawn, or we can help rejuvenate your existing lawn or turf area. TPT

08.01.2022 Time to De-thatch. De-thatching is removing the unwanted grass leaf and organic matter from your lawn, which has accumulated over the past season. In doing this, your lawn will produce all new grass leaf, making your lawn softer to walk on, but also firmer underneath. The time to De-thatch is from now and until the October long weekend. This is also the time to top dress if you need. I will be showing correct top dressing next week. When De-thatching, it is vitally import...ant to fertliser and water your lawn over the next couple of weeks. As the photos show, I dropped my mower down low, about half the length of the grass, and collected the bulk of material left. I then double cut the lawn, about half the length again, not to expose dirt, and removed the rest of the unwanted material. As the lawn has been severely damaged, I applied fertliser straight away and watered the lawn for 30 minutes. Another 4 waterings in the next 2 weeks should be sufficient. Fertilisers I use a slow release custom blend turf fertliser. It has a NPK value of 22-1-4+iron. I put out 3kgs per 100m2. I used 6kgs in total over the 200m2. I also applied a gypsum/magnesium turf product for my soil conditioning. This was also applied at 3kgs per 100m2. If you require either of these products, they are available for $60+ for the custom blend, which is a 20kg bag. The gyp/mag soil conditioner is $50+ for a 25kg bag. If you require some organics in your soil. Now is a good time to apply something like dynamic lifter. Next week, I will show 2 different top dressing options, sand v soil. If anyone has any questions, please send us a message. TPT See more
