24.01.2022 VACATION CARE We have been advised that Vacation Care bookings with Year Round Care will start being taken on Monday 30 November, 2020, this includes bookings for the Staff Development Days on 17 & 18 December, 2020. 24.01.2022 NIGHT OF THE NOTABLES - 5/6H The Opportunity Class held its biannual "Night of the Notables" on Thursday 3 December, 2020. The event was a huge success with the students showcasing their amazing talents and knowledge of famous persons. Well done Miss McKerrow and 5/6H for all your efforts.

24.01.2022 Opportunity Class Placement Test for entry to Year 5 in 2021 - Test information for parents and students Students who have applied to sit the Year 5 opportunity class in 2021 will sit the test on Wednesday 18th November. This will take place at Tamworth Public School. Students will need to bring a printed copy of their ‘Test authority’ letter showing their application number. Students may bring water bottles but no pencil cases, stationary or books.... Students will need to be at school by 8:45am and meet at the bottom of the new classrooms. 23.01.2022 School Photos 2020 The school photos have arrived and will be coming home with students today. We would like to take the opportunity to thank 'The School Photographer' for making sure that we were able to have school photos this year and that the students could receive them before school breaks up. ... 22.01.2022 Year 5 buses not long left Muswellbrook. They will be arriving at Tamworth Public around 5pm

21.01.2022 Wishing all of our students, staff, families and friends a very happy new year! Our office will be open and staff will return on Wednesday 27th January for two days of Professional Learning. Students in Years 1-6 will return on Friday 29th January. Our new Kindergarten students will be undergoing their Best Start Assessments and officially start 'big school' on Monday 8th February. Stay safe and we will see you all soon.

19.01.2022 At the end of a busy term it is important that we acknowledge the unsung heroes at our school. One of those heroes is Louise (Lou) Schalk our school canteen manager. She has worked tirelessly this term sometimes by herself to make sure our students get the lunches and food that they need. She has been the driving force behind receiving our Healthy Canteens Certification and has modernised the look and feel of the canteen. On behalf of the school community thank you Lou and your team of workers and volunteers you have done an amazing job in difficult times.

15.01.2022 SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS School photographs will be taken in Week 3 of this term on Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 & Thursday 29 October 2020. Students were sent home an envelope today. All envelopes to be returned by Monday 26 October with correct money enclosed. Please note there will be no change available from the office. ... Each child must return their envelope to their class teacher, even if their payment is enclosed in a brother or sister’s envelope, make note of payment details on student envelope. Payments can be made online through The School Photographer website as per instructions on the envelope. Family photographs are available at an additional cost. The envelopes for sibling photos are available at the office. Attached is a timetable so you are aware of the day your child will be having their photo. Most family photos will be on Thursday but could be Tuesday or Wednesday. Students will need to wear their school summer uniform on photo day, not sports uniform. Please phone the office if you have any enquiries.

14.01.2022 Year 5 Point Wolstoncroft Excursion Tamworth Public School has received confirmation today that the Year 5 Point Wolstoncroft Excursion will be going ahead as planned. Overnight activities may take place under strict guidelines in Term 4. I have spoken to Sport and Recreation who run Point Wolstoncroft and they have confirmed that they will be adhering to those guidelines and are more then happy for us to attend.... More information will be provided early next term. Great news for our Year 5 students.

14.01.2022 Tamworth Public School Presentation Day 2020 The annual Tamworth Public School Presentation Day will be taking place on Wednesday 9 December at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre starting at 10am. We are fortunate that we can hold this event given the circumstances this year and are excited that we can showcase the many great achievements that Tamworth Public School students have made throughout the year. Students who have received a Principals Award of Excellence wil...l also receive these at our Presentation Day. Due to COVID-19 guidelines award recipients, band members and Student Representative Council elected for 2021 are allowed two guests per family only to attend. Please make sure that you adhere to these guidelines. Adults attending will need to register on arrival at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. It is advised that you have the Service NSW App on your phone downloaded for this purpose. There will be a paper register for those who may experience technical difficulties. Guests are also to have a gap of one seat between family groups. Guests are asked to enter via the left side entrance (closest to ALEC) as students will be entering from the right-hand entrance. No students are to be collected from TREC after the presentation and Tamworth Public School students are not permitted to sit with guests. Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre will be open at 9:15am for guests. Tuesday 8 December Practice Day Students receiving awards and band members will be departing by bus to TREC at 9:30am. Students will need to pack recess in a separate bag and bring a drink bottle. We will be arriving back to school before lunch. Wednesday 9 December Presentation Day - Students from Years 3-6 who are not receiving an award will attend Presentation Day as audience members. All students are to wear Tamworth Public School summer uniform. No sports uniform. Students will also need to bring a water bottle. Recess will be eaten before a 9:30am departure. Lunch will be eaten on return at around 12:30pm. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Tamworth Public School P&C who have generously donated funds for awards and to provide buses for transport. 13.01.2022 Year 5 are on their way home from Point Wolstoncroft. They are travelling well and should be home sometime between 4:30pm-5pm. When they have departed from their final stop I will give a more precise arrival time.

07.01.2022 CRAZY SOCKS DAY To liven up the last day of term and bring a bit of fun to the school, we are asking all staff and students to wear a pair of "crazy socks" on Friday 25 September, 2020. All other uniform, including hat must be correct school uniform.

07.01.2022 Len Waters Spectacular Student s in Years 3-6 attending the Len Waters spectacular tomorrow will need to wear their sports uniform. Students will need to have recess and lunch packed tomorrow and not have recess or lunch orders from the canteen. Students will also need to bring a water bottle to take to TREC Thanks

07.01.2022 The New Buildings have now been handed over to the school! We are in the process of introducing the new spaces to our students. Teachers are preparing to take classes in the new areas as well as holding assemblies in our new hall. So exciting!!

07.01.2022 CLASSROOM UPDATE - 1B 1B has been learning about volume and capacity this week in Math. We joined 1S in the sun to have some fun estimating and measuring using informal units.

05.01.2022 KINDY TENNIS EXCURSION Kindergarten were one of the lucky winners of the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots competition. All students in kindergarten were presented with their very own tennis racquet to keep. Thank you to Mr Squires for entering the competition on behalf of kindy, to North West Tennis Academy for presenting the racquets and to the ANZ Tennis Hot Shot program.

05.01.2022 R U OK? DAY 2020 Last Thursday was national R U OK DAY. Classes followed up with discussions and social skills around this theme in today's lessons. The staff wore yellow to bring awareness to mental health. Every day is the day to ask if those around you are okay.

02.01.2022 Intention to apply for Year 7 placement in a selective high school in 2022 - For Year 5 2020 students Selective high schools cater for academically gifted students with high potential who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates at their own academic standard. Selective high schools help these students to learn by grouping them with students of similar ability, and by using specialised teaching methods. Applications for selective high school placement are considered mai...nly on the basis of the Selective High School Placement Test results and school assessment scores. The Selective High School Placement Test will be held on Thursday 11 March 2021. If you would like to have your child considered for Year 7 selective high school entry in 2022, you need to apply on the internet using a valid email address (not the student’s email address). Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available in late September 2020 at https://education.nsw.gov.au//selective-high-school/year-7. The application website opens at that link on 13 October 2020 and closes on 16 November 2020. You must apply before the closing date. There are no paper application forms. If you do not have internet access, you could apply at a public library. If you have a disability that prevents you from using a computer, you can contact the Team for assistance after 13 October 2020. You must submit only ONE application for each student. An Intention to apply permission note was sent home with all Year 5 students today. Ifyour child is interested in applying please return the Intention to reply by Friday 6th November.

01.01.2022 Tamworth Public School Year 6 Graduation The Tamworth Public School Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday 15 December in the school hall. The ceremony will begin at 2:00pm with doors opening at 1:45pm. A reminder that due to COVID restrictions on social distancing only one family member per child can attend. Family members attending will need to enter the hall via Brisbane Street gate on the left-hand side of the school residence (After School Care). There wil...l be a checkpoint where those attending will need to submit the declaration form sent with the permission note (there will be spares for those who have lost theirs). Current Tamworth Public School siblings are invited to attend and will have a place in the hall where they will be seated as they are not to sit with parents. At the conclusion of the ceremony parents are to exit the school via the same gate. Mrs Burrows has been working on a slideshow for this ceremony and if any Year 6 students would like a copy they can bring in a USB stick before the end of the school week. We look forward to celebrating Tamworth Public Schools Year 6 2020.
