24.01.2022 Today is my last day at the Tamworth Regional Council Dog Pound. I would like to thank all the rescue organisations I have had the pleasure in dealing with over the past 7 years. Thank you to everyone who has adopted an animal from the Tamworth Pound. Thank you to everyone that has made this Facebook page a great success over the years. Please keep adopting / sharing all the animals posts. Keep up the good work all of you. Peace out ~Mel~

21.01.2022 We have made some changes to the way we operate in line with COVID-19 measures around ‘social distancing’. Our open hours remain the same but our gates are locked and we have a doorbell which members of the public should press when they need to pick up or drop off an animal. Anyone who sees a dog or cat on our Facebook page they would like to rehome is asked to call the pound on 6767 5501 and arrange an appointment with our staff.... We want to continue to be able to find new homes for those pets we are not able to reunite with their owners and we appreciate your cooperation.

10.01.2022 SCAMP meets once a Month, please inbox or call for further details. Strategic Companion Animal Management Plan (SCAMP) Companion animals are an integral part of our community, culture and society. Our compassion for living things is reflected in the way that we treat our animals. Ownership of a companion animal should be regarded as a privilege. This privilege comes with a range of responsibilities towards:... the animals the community the environment Why do we need a Strategic Companion Animal Management Plan (SCAMP) There are a number of reasons why the community of the Tamworth region requires a Strategic Companion Animal Management Plan (SCAMP): to ensure that the Companion Animals Act 1998 is understood and complied with to balance the needs of pet owners and non-pet owners within the community to provide the opportunity to create lasting, voluntary changes in human behaviour regarding the ownership of companion animals to identify gaps within current planning mechanisms that affect companion animal ownership to reflect the emerging understanding that companion animals can contribute to quality of life, and to integrate this with the need to minimise impacts on the environment and native wildlife What does this Plan aim to achieve This management plan aims to: provide the owners of companion animals with support, education, regulation and facilities to accommodate their pets within the broader community and environment manage issues relating to companion animals and encourage responsible pet ownership via education and the knowledge of services and provisions available.
