24.01.2022 Tamworth Regional Gallery was honoured to be shortlisted for Australian Museums and Galleries Association NSW in the Innovation and Resilience category of the IMAGinE Awards 2020. Our collaboration with the CNRL Library Innovation Studio saw the creation of the "Land Is Emotional" Virtual Exhibition and Virtual Plein Air Workshop, for leading regional artist Rowen Matthews - it was developed while COVID-19 closed the Gallery in March. You can view Rowen's exhibition here. https://poly.google.com/view/0YrmwpoCQ4A

17.01.2022 Originally known as Armistice Day, Remembrance Day commemorates the signing of the peace agreement that ended WWI at 11am on 11 November 1918. Today, we remember and honour the memory of all those men and women who served, are currently serving and those we have lost to the cause. Lest We Forget.... 06.01.2022 Many thanks to Ellen Howell for a fantastic artist talk last night to mark the opening of her new exhibition. Never Ending Thread - My Adventures with Cloth is open from today! Pop in to the Gallery this weekend to experience this wonderful exhibition. #tamworthnsw @ellen.howell1
04.01.2022 Artist Talk - Ellen Howell Friday 27th November, 6pm Join us at the Gallery for the launch of Ellen Howell's new exhibition, Never Ending Thread: My Adventures with Cloth, and listen to Ellen 's talk on her residency in Odisha and her art practice.... In 2017 Ellen was invited to India as part of a textile residency in Odisha. The background of her practice had been in drawing, painting and mixed media. She had a passion for block printing and was searching for a way to combine her visual and textile practice. By weaving, drawing, dyeing and mixing age-old traditions with modern techniques, Ellen’s aim is to delight the viewer with unexpected stories. She uses golden jute, Tussar, mulberry and banana silk dyed naturally and woven in the Saori style. Her cloth panels are block printed with her hand carved original designs. This is a FREE event, however bookings are essential and seating is strictly limited. Book your place via Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/never-ending-thread-ellen-h
