Bring a picnic blanket, the family, friends and enjoy welcome and smoking ceremony, local musicians, a free BBQ along with food stalls selling Ethiopian, Flavours of India, KopiKo Coffee Service and Empanada's AND the Mparntwe Alice Springs Premiere screening of the film "Power Meri". The event is organised by women's services of Central Australia. This is an inclusive event, EVERYONE is welcome and it is proudly Sponsored by the Northern Territory Government. The film "Power Meri". Power Meri follows the journey of Papua New Guinea’s first national women’s rugby league team, the PNG Orchids, from inception to the world stage. In a country described as 'one of the toughest places in the world to be a woman' but where rugby league is king, it explores the broader social impact of sport, and how women playing male-dominated sports shapes attitudes about the treatment and status of women.
11.01.2022 Jessica Maulboy, Christine Anu, Emma Watkins, Kate Ceberano, Marcia Hines, Montaigne, The McClymonts, Amy Shark, Tones And I and Delta Goodrem performed a tribute to the late Helen Reddy at the 2020 ARIA Awards this week and is a very fitting song during the 16 days of Activism to end violence against women. The tribute also included a virtual chorus, comprising Amy Sheppard, Christie Wheelan-Browne, Clare Bowen, Dami Im, Emma Donovan, Erika Heynatz, Fanny Lumsden, GRAACE, Kate Miller-Heidke, Katie Noonan, KLP, Missy Higgins, Mo’Ju, Odette, Samantha Jade, Teeny Tiny Stevies, Thandi Phoenix and Wendy Matthews.
