25.01.2022 Here's a fixed version of the livestream which had a few audio issues in the stream, fixed and repackaged for your listening and viewing pleasure. I have not been as nervous as I was at the beginning of this performance since I first dropped into the concrete bowl of death on my skateboard in Toowoomba in the 1980s... But like then, I had a heap of people supporting me. Thanks to Vanessa, Erik, Leah and all of the awesome pianists who put their collective energy into this project. :)

25.01.2022 1275km; 2 tracks; 1.5 Land Rovers; 1 desert. Crossing the heart of the Great Victoria Desert west over the Anne Beadell Highway and north up the Connie Sue Highway from Coober Pedy to Warburton. Not as polished as other Slow TV productions, but it is hard to polish a 1991 ex army Land Rover 110. #desert #slowtv #heartland

25.01.2022 Join me on Youtube as I try to coalesce four years of documentation and experimentation into three hours via live mixing. I'll be layering and looping. C'mon and see what it's all about! Stay for a little while or a long while :) Starts at 3PM and goes until six, technology permitting... https://youtu.be/0403qmWZ-2E

24.01.2022 Another amazing ride from the Boundary Riders commissions. This time Hannah Reardon-Smith's piece with Erik and Vanessa came with a simple visual brief: spontaneous improvisation using the supplied video clips from the studio recording and in the field. I made the first edit of the studio session on first listen to the music, then another listen to create the environmental layer. Both were combined and exported as is. So exhilarating to create this way.

23.01.2022 Another awesome experience, with audience participation via our smartphones we fill in the background sounds accompanying the quartet on this journey across the seas.

23.01.2022 The last in the Boundary Riders Commissions is brought to you by the wonderful voice of Kristin Berardi accompanied by Clocked Out. Such a beautiful way to end a couple of months of collaboration with eight amazingly talented musicians. Huge thanks to Bruce and Jocelyn Wolfe for making things possible for artists.

22.01.2022 Our old boss and my mentor, Steve Parish embracing himself for himself. I learned a lot from my time with Steve and hope to emulate him in some ways... maybe not the divorces though . Thanks Steve. Greg (& Em)

22.01.2022 A thing I made for some friends in Coalfalls. Music for social isolation and gradual disassociation.

22.01.2022 A nice dream. Our work leads us to beautiful places. Clocked Out at The Piano Mill

21.01.2022 Another Easter Sunday well spent. Misty rain only adding to the atmosphere of the landscape and taking nothing away from the experience. Photos by us.

20.01.2022 Oxbow Soundwalk 1

20.01.2022 A welcome diversion halfway up a hill. From the easter weekend at The Piano Mill.

20.01.2022 My setup for live-streaming live video mixing tonight for the 84* Pianos - Pandemic Edition event. Starts at 6PM tonight peeps! Youtube Live link in the event.

20.01.2022 Slightly more erudite than a Dizzee Rascal song, here's a really interesting lecture and recital all about that Bass.

19.01.2022 So it's #nationalbirdweek and we have had two of our regulars back to visit. A pair of Forest kingfishers returned and are getting frisky. If I'm allowed an animal totem, it's this one; the Spangled drongo. This bird comes through every year and stops off for a few days to feed here. He/she's awesome.

19.01.2022 It's been a long while between drinks, but we're in a Natural History publication again. Emma and I have a short photo essay and babble of words from me (Greg) to accompany them about our trip into and across Australia's largest desert; The Great Victoria Desert last year. Pick up a copy of Wildlife Australia Magazine - WAM and read on. http://wildlife.org.au//wildlife-australi/current-edition/

19.01.2022 Trouble with corrugations... the constant shaking rattles the relays out of their sockets and the main symptom, car wont start... The first time it happened was intense. This time was after spending a beautiful night at Serpentine Lakes last September.

19.01.2022 One of the magical things we filmed last year, Red Live Breath in the Conservatorium courtyard. This was a beautiful challenge; low light and no room and an unknown performance, the fisheye came in handy.

18.01.2022 This one's been a while in coming... Emma and I spent a wonderful afternoon in 2018 watching this all unfold through the lens in this beautiful space with these amazing musicians. Share and enjoy.

18.01.2022 Oxbow soundwalk 2

18.01.2022 Friday night on the job. A busy night slinging cameras and lugging tripods, dodging sparks, chasing trombones and searching for sonic interventions. Fun.

17.01.2022 The strange and beautiful building/instrument keeps getting the recognition it deserves. The Piano Mill has now won an international architecture award to go along with a national prize in architecture and an art music prize. Emma and I are grateful we have been there to witness and document its creation, utilisation and maturation over the last couple of years. Congratulations to all!

17.01.2022 #memory Two years ago we were driving the sandy roller-coaster between Voakes Hill Corner and Serpentine Lakes in the Great Victoria Desert. This section of the desert lies within Mamungari Conservation Park, a fairly pristine example of our heartland; so vibrant and full of life. We took music from friends out with us to find a fit for the music. Thanks to Dave McGuire for this track and Emma Harm with the steady-arm.

17.01.2022 We all have down moments. Sometimes it's hard to lift your head and see any light (forgive the melodrama, I've had a bad week or two) and then something drops in your lap and you're left wondering where the dark has gone... Bathe in the bright happiness of the Activity Container from Jodie Rottle, it made my day to put the video together and makes me smile just to think of it. Thanks all :)

17.01.2022 A flyover of the artists at the camp at the 22 mile along the sandy bottom of the Maranoa River. Music courtesy of Erik Griswold on the installed prepared piano at the camp. The project has been sponsored and financially supported by RADF a partnership between the Queensland Government and the Maranoa Regional Council to support local arts and culture in Regional Queensland.

16.01.2022 Great recording session with Dave McGuire this afternoon.

16.01.2022 A new video emerges. An amazing improvised performance by Clocked Out and Jim Denley ~ the essential gesture is the breath

15.01.2022 Oxbow soundwalk 3. The difficulty in documenting these types of events is capturing what can be lost amongst the recordings of images and sound; the experience of being present. My experience here on the Oxbow sound walk was one of wandering through a hill-sized instrument, evolving along with the ambling spectator with weather, light and landscape shaping the experience for all.

15.01.2022 Because too much desert is never enough, right? Here's a link to a site that will be updated over the next little while and eventually become your one-stop-shop for all things Australia... hence the catchy URL. We begin with showcasing the last big trip we did into the Great Victoria Desert, first gallery is of the roads. Signup to our email, there'll be no spam outside of maybe a recipe for it when camping... cheers Em & Greg

13.01.2022 Field trip to document an art camp on the banks of the Maranoa River south of Mitchell. Held during NAIDOC week, the camp focussed on the spirit of the Gunggari people and Aunty Irene's legacy. #naidoc2018 #becauseofherwecan #mitchellqld -... The project has been sponsored and financially supported by RADF to support local arts and culture in Regional Queensland.

13.01.2022 Carcasses of Angels is a thing of beauty. I am so glad we get to experience performances like this. So good. So live and loud.

13.01.2022 A short excerpt from one of the live performances at the exhibition at Mitchell. I finally had the chance to perform my live improvised video mixing with two of my most favourite people and musicians; Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold (Clocked Out). A pretty special way to end a fulfilling and enlightening few days spent immersed in art, culture and environment. Please forgive the audio and picture quality, I always seem to fail at documenting myself well.

12.01.2022 Some S>c>r>a>p>s Live at Solidarity Külture lub. I hadn't done any live projections for a long while. Remembered why I like twiddling knobs. A bit rusty but the music is awesome anyway.

11.01.2022 I'm hooking up with Clocked Out and Peter Knight tonight via the internet. Streaming straight to you device via Melbourne, Brisbane and Ipswich. From 6:00 live music and video mix.

11.01.2022 Just because it's Thursday.

11.01.2022 The Listening Museum; a music festival in a factory compressed into short and sweet segments of experimental music, sound, noise, movement and mayhem. Was a fun night to film.

10.01.2022 Sometimes I have a need to search public domain images for projects. This was an interesting result from Flickr Commons when searching for "christian"...

10.01.2022 Another thing we've been working on recently is this collaboration between a host of composers, a pianist and a dancing choreographer in Bloodpaths, part of the Brisbane Music Festival. Excited to see it come too life this weekend.

09.01.2022 Empty desert highways, forever dreaming of returning. The thrum of the diesel and the simplicity of the task make this isolation a pleasure. Drive from point a to point b, document all in-between. Rinse and repeat for three weeks.

09.01.2022 Live streaming the last 4 years of The Piano Mill Easter Sunday performances in progress. https://youtu.be/0403qmWZ-2E?t=534 .

08.01.2022 This amazing piece of music came with a simple brief for the video. A beautiful and slightly messy few days ensued experimenting with glitter. Enjoy this mesmerising piece from Sam Pankhurst, Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold.

07.01.2022 I am *so* happy to be able to experiment visually with these amazing creative people and what they do. One and all, it is a thing of beauty that has been created here. Better quality available on Youtube: https://youtu.be/iYm9VaSqeRE

07.01.2022 A quiet moment of beauty amongst the stillness of an inland waterway. A Clocked Out improvisation along the banks of Amby Creek. Flirting with birds and reflecting with ripples, the music embodies the land with such a careful touch. #becauseofherwecan Nalingu

06.01.2022 These beautiful bells.

06.01.2022 An opera filmed in a backyard for a livestream. good times were had. Here is 8 minutes or so out of a five hour performance. Thx Vanessa :)

06.01.2022 The 100th running of our good friend Christian's awesome enterprise Solidarity Külture lub

05.01.2022 The moon on a cloudy night in central Australia is a thing of simple beauty; combine this with layers of complex and emotive music it becomes a beautiful way to relax on a Friday, or any day really. :)

04.01.2022 Dog wrangling behind the scenes

04.01.2022 A beautiful afternoon a few years ago.

04.01.2022 Bloodpaths is a ninety minute exploration of what it sounds like, what it looks like, and what it means to be Australian in contemporary society. We pre-recorded special pieces to be projected during the live performance to give dancer Katina Olsen a break. Alex Raineri played music written for the video pieces all filmed around New Farm in late 2019. These excerpts are taken from the performance at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in December 2019 as a part of the Brisbane Music Festival.

03.01.2022 Things get weird in Oxley Common. Moving stillness and contrasting layers highlighting time and open space. Thanks for the music :)

03.01.2022 A surreal and dreamy end to a wonderful day creating a document of the sights and sounds that makeup a usual Easter Sunday at Harrigans Lane (aka The Piano Mill) The wind and wet conspired against us but I still love this so much.

02.01.2022 play//pause//start//stop//remix I like the reboot of the Brady Bunch... thanks Erik. Works best on a computer. :)

02.01.2022 An Easter Sunday in the Australian bush. The Piano Mill is a recurring highlight to our documentary calendar.

02.01.2022 A snippet of a weekend’s work in the Tweed Valley. Some amazing performances and intriguing installations in Tyalgum

02.01.2022 Some days I get to do things perfectly designed for my brain... yesterday I spent 90 minutes in a room with this sound installation. Yeah.

01.01.2022 Some time-lapse work we did a few years ago. Was a fun couple of days spent watching other people work.

01.01.2022 A flashback to a short stop for lunch and extra tasty sandwiches.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to Aunty Lynette Nixon! We were privileged to spend some time with Aunty Lynette last week in Mitchell and learn about the history and culture of the Gunggari people and their country as we camped on the Maranoa River. #becauseofherwecan #naidoc2018

01.01.2022 Local produce, organic and recyclable. New vid we made with friends from Ipswich ~ Coalfalls. link to buy and support local produce in comments.

01.01.2022 The premiere of Mike Epworth's Sweet Home Wallumbilla project with the piece of music written by Duncan Gardiner and performed by The Enoggera Ensemble on a Saturday night in Wallumbilla, Queensland. Project supported by Arts Queensland
