23.01.2022 'fresh threads', 'battle armour', 'mobile sauna', it goes by many a moniker, but our training uniforms are more than just for show. In brazilian jiu jitsu they are an active training tool that we learn to navigate around in order to value control, technique, accuracy and timing. This is a great share from judo's IJF, and just like judo our particular gis are made from a dense weave to ensure durability from rips.

09.01.2022 We're deep into our 3rd week of regular training and it's been a delight to revise our learnings and endeavour into new ideas Last night amongst our drilling we discussed framing your perspective towards applying techniques. Yes there's much to learn when starting out, but respecting the fundamentals and seeing similarities of their application in different situations takes a significant amount of stress out of your sparring, and in turn progress.... For example, using just a couple of types of passes in a range of ways limited only by your creativity is easier to remember and implement than 50 different separate techniques. Check out this vid of Rafa Mendes playing with the back step pass to demonstrate this idea
