25.01.2022 For those in Brisbane, council is rebating the cost of compost bins and has free information on how to use compost bins and worm farms. Fantastic!
24.01.2022 Being big business the CAM industry is often hijacked by (often multi level marketing) companies promising unrealistic health promises from their products. Using unqualified sales people and/or choosing to be regulated by food licensing laws are easy ways for these companies to get around the advertising laws that govern therapeutic goods and claims. Whilst Im happy to see one company held accountable (link below) for misleading the public, there are many others that a...nd get away with ridiculous claims. Think of the big business MLM essential oil companies as a great current example of what should not happen (Young Living, Doterra etc.) If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is. Ask questions (start with qualifications of sales person and TGA certification of the company). Look for the usual nonsense (its natural therefore safe, it will cure *insert serious illness, testimonies about how its cured people etc.) Ask a qualified health practitioner (ANTA/NHAA member naturopath or GP) for advice.
24.01.2022 May your year be blessed, your health be strong, and your path be clear

22.01.2022 I am currently re-reading this book and thoroughly enjoying it all over again. The simplicity and clarity around a topic that is still confronting, ikky and taboo for many is welcomed. It is key for women wishing to step fully into and share their strengths. Have a great weekend x
21.01.2022 When I was 19 I was diagnosed and treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma. It was 6 rounds of heavy chemotherapy followed by a morning radiation session every day for a month. It was brutal and terrifying, but at the time I was in such shock and was so exhausted that I just went through the motions. My fear sometimes escaped out, often in the cloak of anger at those around me taking their health for granted. I was suddenly not allowed to do many of the things I loved like hiking with ...a big group of people or playing with animals, so I spent my time studying naturopathy and learning how to play guitar. Yesterday I found a lump on the side of my neck. I palpated it and decided it was muscular. Two of my friends palpated it and decided it was lymphatic. Despite all my experience with not only palpating lymphoma but also being what I have heard people call a medical intuitive, I spun into a massive spiral of anxiety and spent the evening in a panic and half the day in the hospital waiting room to wait for a registrar to tell me that my bloods were perfect and the lump was muscular. This evening there was a massive storm, the wind whipped through and shook the trees, the lightening came and made incredible thunder which scared me when I wasnt watching and waiting for it, and then the glorious rain brought total relief and I found peace in the midst of the storm. That summed up my day perfectly and I was thankful for the reflection by mother nature. When I received that shock it put into sharp perspective what matters to me. That I give and receive love, that I am of service in a way that nourishes my soul and that of others, that I keep my health as a priority and that I not take any of these things for granted. I am so very grateful to all the work I have done over the years that allowed me to consciously choose love in spite of what happened. My work in the womens circles taught me how to stay with the fear and overwhelm when they arose time and time again and to find a way to connect to the love being poured into me by those who rallied around me without thought. With deep gratitude and fierce love to you all this fine evening xx See more
21.01.2022 I love being a part of research in my field. This was a particularly enjoyable day of chatting all things adaptogenic with fellow herbal nerds. Congrats to Sophia for a wonderful research piece.

20.01.2022 Clary sage is by far my favourite essential oil. I remember my obsession with this smell began as a teenager and has never left! Here is a useful website with free materia medicas of some common (and not so common) essential oils you might enjoy reading (this link is to clary sage but the column on the right lists the rest) https://salvatorebattaglia.com.au/e/37-clary-sage-monograph
19.01.2022 I was initially quite confronted with the idea of isolation. The word itself seems to conjure up images of prisons and thoughts of punishment. The first experience I had was observing panic buying and thought well what else are people capable of in fear. As the days go on and people settle into new routines and become inventive in meeting needs whilst maintaining distance I see waves of kindness and giving tangible in the global community. I would love to see anyones e...xamples of online gifts like the following that will make staying in something to treasure rather than fear. 15.01.2022 Some beauty for your weekend
15.01.2022 I have decided to focus my naturopathy practice on what I am personally most fascinated in within ones healing journey: understanding the connections between emotions and dis-ease. My many years of dedication to working with and teaching flower essences, combined with my more recent work in somatic and energetic healing, has lead to my own unique offering in mind-body medicine treatments. I combine flower essence Baihui diagnosis and treatment methods with energetic healin...g to give a truly unique, clarifying and calming treatment. I then make up your own Alchemical blend of flower essences to continue your healing journey for the coming weeks. My years of working closely with flower essence creators has lead me to a place where I feel a strong sense of integrity and honour in being able to offer my unique gift to my little part of the world. If you feel that inner calling to discover more do get in touch via private message to find out more. See more

10.01.2022 A fabulous place to visit. The owners are such a wealth of knowledge
10.01.2022 Ruth led a group of us in circle yesterday to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Aquarius. We celebrated our inner rebel. For me the inner rebel comes easily. I have never felt the need to walk a normal path, I have rarely felt the pressure to fit in. I enjoy pushing the boundaries and questioning social norms that are unhealthy. What I often find challenging is living with this much passion in a way that is rooted in peace. I find this is often the case with people I work with or teach; especially those called to be healers. It was very important to Ruth, Randa and I that our new course was grounded in the practical tools we have learnt and used over the years that allow us to return to that sense of peace and Love. Next week we begin recording these meditations, prayers and rituals for the course. Happy New Lunar Year all xxx

08.01.2022 "Indeed, our findings show that Buddhist meditation apps are not a cure that relieves suffering in the world, but more like an opiate that hides the real symptoms of the precarious and stressful state in which many people find themselves today."
08.01.2022 Just one of the many edible weeds that make wonderful spinach substitutes. High in nutrients, low in issues created through commercial farming methods.

06.01.2022 Next weekend I am blessed to be led in ceremony with Randa Karzon and my inspiring dharma sister pack Annie Meredith and Ruth Sladek in the ritual of self marriage. I first heard about this idea from my teacher Chameli Ardagh and have watched from afar as my fellow AWI teacher Dominique Youkhehpaz created the most amazing template for this (see her website here: http://www.selfmarriageceremonies.com/about-self-marriage/) This ritual for me is about being accountable for what... it is I am here to do. As the days count down I feel the excitement and anticipation build. I am so grateful to these wonderful women in my life. They hold space for me to sink deeper and deeper into my unique offering. They encourage me to shine as brightly as I want. They love me when I fall and help me dust myself off when I am ready to start back up again. Through it all I feel their Grace and Presence. I am so grateful. See more
05.01.2022 For those curious about menopause. Like any rite of passage it can be immense and guidance can be invaluable. I bow to the wisdom given here
04.01.2022 #WARNING Essential oils are not safe to consume and can result in poisoning if ingested, especially for young children. Only use medicines as directed by a medical professional and always check product guidelines before use.
04.01.2022 My good friend and work colleague Deb Godson has published her paper on acupuncture point location accuracy. First of its kind! Congratulations to Deb! https://doi.org/10.1177/0964528420920302
03.01.2022 Spent my Sunday with fellow herbal nerds...big shout out to David Casteleijn and the fantastic and engaging talk he finished the day off with.
03.01.2022 Randa Karzon, Ruth Sladek and I are currently in the midst of creating a course that is over a decade in the making. For many years we have listened to our herbal and naturopathic students lamenting the lack of self development and magic in their degree. Knowing there was very little we could do to address that within a health science degree, we instead set out creating a professional development course. The idea was to draw on our collective wisdom to share teachings we knew... were important, both on developing the healing craft itself, and also personal development. We began by gathering in circle together on each new moon. Over time we observed the slowly building momentum of energy and waited patiently for guidance. What came through is a course for anyone seeking a grounding in self awareness, guidance for undertaking deep shadow work, and an understanding of the principles of feminine leadership. We feel these are the essential foundations of all healing work. As many have asked, we will continue to share parts of this journey of creation with you. With love and commitment to the remembering of the old ways xxx See more
01.01.2022 The owners of Capilano Honey Hive and Wellness Have just announced their new plan to import honey from South America. This product will be sold as a blended p...roduct, Australian and imported honey. It was not long ago that this company promise to never import honey into Australia. This is just another example of profit over people. This shouldnt be happening here is Australia. It puts beekeepers in a vulnerable position and places their product into second place, below the price competitive South American Honey. Be careful when buying honey from major retailers, support local honey packers like @beechworthhoney, or local producers like @amberdrophoney or @beeonethird, @honey_fingers and @bensbeesau
