25.01.2022 Hitting the Dantian (area around the navel) is a convenient health regimen that everyone can do at home on a daily basis. Our reservoir of essence and Qi are concentrated in our lower Dantian, it is like a power generator within our body. By stimulating it through daily hitting (with your hand or a steel broom), we can activate the innate power in our bodies, it is especially good for maintaining healthy sexual function and optimal digestion and elimination functions. The recommended number of strikes should be no less than 100 and can be up to 1000x.

25.01.2022 I've just finished relocating from Shanghai, China to Adelaide in South Australia. It is a city that a lot of people may not have heard of, it is quiet and slow but it's close to nature with beautiful rolling hills on one side and the ocean at the other. And that's why I chose to move here as it is a great place for inner cultivation. A few people have asked how they can learn qigong/daoyin and the Taoist arts with me; at the moment I don't offer any distance learning. I stil...l prefer the traditional way of face to face interaction when imparting knowledge, however, living in this day and age I understand that I should have some kind of online coaching presence to share information with those who are interested. I will get something up online eventually.....but it might be a while since my knowledge of technology equal to that of a "white belt". In the meantime, if anyone comes to Adelaide, I am opening to teaching those who are keen motivated and sincere. See more

24.01.2022 The seated Eight Piece of Brocade () is an exercise for internal cultivation using small physical movements from a seated position. It was first mentioned by Taoist master Zhu Quan who lived between 13781448 A.D. in his book "True Transmissions of the Living Man" . It consists of 8 simple movements, each having a particular therapeutic purpose and corresponds with the eight trigrams of the Bagua. It can be seen that the techniques are a part of Taoist internal... alchemy practices and this set is also practiced as the seated routine of the Marrow Washing Qigong system for the purifying of heart, bone, brain and marrow essence. There are several ways to incorporate this method into your routine, the first 4 movements can be done before a session of seated meditation and the last 4 movements can be done at the conclusion of the meditation. Or alternatively, all 8 movements can be done consecutively. The best time to practice is 1100-1300 or 2300-0100. See more

24.01.2022 Recently, a good friend and I were discussing issues related to health and well-being. He rasied some questions about Chinese qigong and longevity, which I thought were really good questions and no doubt many Westerners have these in the back of their minds. So I decided to share his question and my answer in case others are interested: Question: It’s interesting to note that none of the oldest living people in the world use qigong. I have read and studied the blue zones wher...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Harmonious relationships are vital to our mental, emotional and physical well-being. When relationships hit a bad patch, one of the traditional ways is to salvage it with a bit of energetic work through Taoist Shamanism. Here are 4 Relationship talismans that I crafted - from L to R: - For when a man loses interest in a woman - For harmonious relationship between husband and wife - For when a woman loses interest in a guy - General harmonious relationship... However, these cannot be used haphazardly. I generally do not craft these for others as I don't believe i should interfere in the natural course of other people's relationships. But if i was to use this, i would first look at the couple's Pillars of Destiny to see if the fate of their relationship is still there. Is it over or is it a just bad patch? If the relationship is due to end due to destiny then there is nothing much that can be done and if there is to be a "forced recovery" then it would be against the course of nature and would reap karmic consequences. However, there are numerous Taoist talismans that are useful for a wide range of life's challenges. It's my personal medicine toolkit. See more

21.01.2022 Chinese New Year is upon us, I wish everyone a prosperous Year of the Pig! In the northern hemisphere it is also the beginning of Spring in accordance with the 24 sub-seasons of the year. The animal representation of each year is known as the 'Grand Duke' which correlates with the position of the planet Jupiter for that year. As such, there many be clashes with people born in certain years due to the energetic manifestations of that time. I was born in the year of the Snake, ...so this year is a "clash year" for me. The other clash animals are pig, tiger and monkey. A clash means that things may not go as smoothly as you want for the year and there will be certain changes and conflicts. As I like to cover all my bases in terms of health and well-being, it is time to write traditional Taoist talismans to counter the "Grand Duke" so that potential issues from the clash year can be minimised. You can see these talismans in the picture here. May all my friends here have good health and abundance in the Year of the Pig! See more

20.01.2022 I have been absent from Facebook for a while as I have been quite busy relocating to South Australia where I spent the last month setting up my new residence, then I came back to China and just spent a week in a secluded temple in Sichuan province cultivating my Taoist "magic" (i.e. Shamanism) practice (more on that later). Anyway, I came across an interesting piece of research which i think others will find interesting. A team of researchers in China did a statistical study ...of over 12,000 historical figures in China from 472A.D to 1910, they classified these people into their philosophical ideals and compared at their lifespan. I can't speak much about Confucianism and Buddhism but from the above, it should be noted that there are significant overlaps between Chinese medicine (TCM) and Taoist as TCM is based on Taoist philosophy and many Taoist where accomplished medicine practitioners and vice versa, so the two cannot be clearly separated. 17.01.2022 Plagues, viruses and pandemics are nothing new to the human race, they have been with mankind since the earliest civilisations. In the old days, before the production of anti-virals, antibiotics and vaccines, people sought the help of shamans to seek answers to such crisis. All traditional cultures have their own version of the shaman, they are usually wise elders who, through wisdom and knowledge, are able to understand the inter-connections between Heaven, Man and Earth. Ma...ny disease and disasters are not just mechanical or physical but also have intangible spiritual (energetic) factors that contribute to it's occurrence. Here I crafted 3 Taoist talismans to share, they were used against plague-like epidemic in the old days; these are passed onto me through my Taoist lineage. They are either burnt in water and then sprinkled in an infected area or carried by a person or stuck on a fixture. There are many other talismans for a variety of aliments. It's an interesting piece of tradition and cultural heritage from ancient China. See more

16.01.2022 Speaking about Taoist philosophy and health practices at a charity event at Metta Sol, Adelaide. In the last decade, the term 'holistic health' has been a big buzzword and kinda a fad that many promotors use in the health industry. What many people don't realise is that the Taoist health & healing is one of the oldest surviving healthcare system today, having been around for 5000 years. I personally regard the Taoist system to be the most 'holistic' system there is, as it deals with everything concerning human interaction with the natural world.

10.01.2022 The inscription in stone behind me reads "Purple cloud comes in from the East". This refers to when Laozi travelled West towards the mountain ranges of western China in order to seek a life as a hermit after resigning from his post as the head of the imperial archives during the Zhou dynasty (1045 BC256 BC). When border guard Yinxi saw a "purple cloud" in the distance he recognised that it must be an enlightened person coming his way, so when he saw Laozi, he requested the o...ld master to leave behind his teachings, and thus the Tao Te Ching was written. This is from the front wall of my home monastery in Zhejiang province where spent the days leading up to Christmas. I have been living a reclusive life in South Australia during the last few months (therefore I haven't posted much here), aside from training jiujitsu with my friends twice a week, i have pretty much been secluded and deep diving into my inner cultivation, and studying Chinese medicine, divination, destiny analysis and Taoist shamanism/magic. Now I am on the road again since I received an invitation to teach jiujitsu in Shanghai, China and while in this part of the world I am also visiting my Taoist teachers in provincial China and Taiwan. I would like to wish all my Western friends a Merry Christmas and wish you all lots of positive energy in the coming new year. See more

07.01.2022 I recently spent a week staying in a Taoist temple in rural Sichuan province. The purpose was to cultivate my practice of Taoist "magic", which is the speciality of this particular temple. What is referred to as "Taoist magic" (I suspect this term is coined by Western New Age types), is actually a form of Shamanism native to traditional China. Most traditional cultures have their own form of Shamanism, which is a crucial component of their medical repertoire, for example Nati...ve American Indians and Australian aboriginal tribes both have their own shamanistic healing practices. Although some people may consider these practices to be superstition, they have nevertheless helped countless generations through many difficult aliments. I believe in a total holistic approach to health, healing and well-being; even things that others may consider unconventional I still explore, leave no stone unturned as they say! Taoist shamanism is traditionally a closely guarded skill even amongst the Chinese population, if people are interested I can share some information on this page. See more

07.01.2022 The Golden Toad Playing in Wateris a Daoyin/Qigong movement that mimics a toad gliding through the water. As with many Taoist based practices, the technique mimic the distinctive qualities of an animal, that allows them to thrive in nature. Notice between each swimming motion there is a spinal wave which serves as a spine mobility exercise to keep the spine limber and to stimulate the spinal fluid. Every time I raise my body, I stand on the tip of my toes, which stimulate the three Yin meridians (kidney, spleen and liver) of the legs. During the rise one must also lift the kidneys to stimulate hormone secretion.

02.01.2022 Wish everyone a prosperous Year of the Rat. And beware of horoscope readings by dodgy "masters" who either don't know better or are purposely misleading the public. This morning when i read the news, there was an article about a famous Feng Shui master from Hong Kong who was offering advice for people in the Year of the Rat and in it he broke down the categories based on your yearly animal sign. The method assumes that everyone born in the same year has the same destiny, whi...ch is absurd and illogical even for people with no training in destiny analysis. Your animal sign represents just one character in your destiny chart (out of a total of 8), so how can analysing one out of eight parts be used to draw a legitimate conclusion? In fact, prior to the Tang Dynasty (around 600 A.D), people's fortunes were analysed just by the year they were born in, but this method was found to be inaccurate, so after the Tang Dynasty, a more systematic and accurate system was devised based on analysing the day, time and month as well as the year. Also, people talk about Clashing with the Grand Duke which is said to be bad luck, this is another load of BS. For example, this year is the Year of the Rat and people born in the Year of the Goat is supposed to 'clash with the Grand Duke'. However, depending on whether the year sign is favourable or unfavourable for you as an individual it could be either good or bad, so it's wrong to say it's just bad luck. But this is how "master" sell you their merchandise, they say if you buy their lucky charms it will prevent the clash and thus prevent bad luck, so people end up paying anything from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars for a little piece of rock. In reality, people don't clash with the Grand Duke, but rather a house/property can clash with the Grand Duke. So as the Western saying goes: Buyers Beware! See more
