23.01.2022 Why I love Brown Brumby Dodge so much. Because after spending most of my adult life riding sleek, elegant and impatient Arabian horses, when I ride Dodge, I fee...l like a kid again, riding a robust, short legged, barrel-bodied pony, a bit short in his stride, a bit bouncy in his gallop. I remember the kid I was, riding robust ponies who liked to stop and eat. And when we wanted a horse to stand still in a dark space with just his head peaking out to catch the sunlight, I knew that out of the whole herd of beautiful high spirited Arabians, it was Dodge who was going to stand still wherever we put him and relax in that spot, because Dodge loves standing still. And when Elsa arrived to meet the Kerewong herd, she saw Dodge and said "I want to photograph a portrait of him". And here it is. The once wild Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse, for everybody to see the kindness in his eyes. Bravo Elsa Marchenay! This is beyond all my expectations and I am so grateful for this image. See more

23.01.2022 I don't want the horse to get trained, because training the horse is absolutely finite. But if you get the horse to where he operates as if to be your legs, an... extension of you, you've far-exceeded that whole training notion. -- Buck Brannaman Support Good Horsemanship! #horses #horsemanship #neverstoplearning #eclectichorseman #naturalhorsemanship #rayhunt #tomdorrance #buckbrannaman #martinblack #billdorrance #tomcurtin #joewolter #bryanneubert #wendymurdoch #petercampbell

15.01.2022 Some photos from the Mountain Trail Challenge Clinic in Dorrigo with River Horse Training and Trekking in November 2020. It was me and my beloved Dodgy Brumby, ...the Blonde Brumby and their original horse trainer Taphyl Stewart. Thank you Still Free Photography for being there to capture the moments and great memories. I highly recommend this clinic, it is so much fun, a great quality time to spend with your horses and you and your horses can learn heaps. See more

13.01.2022 Guy Fawkes Dodge. The Kerewong Gold Nugget. Brave. Willing. Confident. Generous. Kind. Greatness comes disguised in many shapes and sizes. Thank you River Horse Training and Trekking for a great weekend and the photo.

13.01.2022 I love this image of the guests fussing over Dodgy's tack adjustment on the Mountain last Sunday. As some of you may know, I have a few hyper-sensitive Arab so...uls who don’t like to be fussed about. Brown Brumby Dodge is not one of them. After meeting Dodge and the Blond Brumby the mother and daughter riding team went home with the thought they may give some Brumbies a home as well. Kerewong Brumbies as Brumby Ambassadors!! Dodge really stole the hearts this weekend. But together they are just too cute. See more

13.01.2022 Oh yeah!! It's Sombrero Ranch up by Grandby Colorado. They were driving them to a movie set day before yesterday.

12.01.2022 Watch and enjoy......

12.01.2022 This is the breed "Akhal-Teke", out of Turkmenistan. It is a very old breed and known for its metallic sheen. The sheen is a result of the opaque core of the ha...ir being narrower or even absent, allowing the light to shine through the hair - except it refracts it a little to give that shimmery golden look. They come in many colors. This one is called "Cremelo". See more

12.01.2022 Having a go at the obstacles at mountain trail course run by River Horse tail and trekking.

08.01.2022 "Think about controlling the feet and shifting the weight. If you get the horse to move his weight, he's got to shift his feet - but I bet he doesn't move his ...feet first. He shifts his weight, then moves his feet. He prepares his position and then there's a transition. Don't try to get the horse to go without getting him ready." Ray Hunt See more

04.01.2022 During Round 1 at Road to the Horse 2019, Wade Black used the Training Trifecta to bring a scientific approach to horsemanship. Wade Black explains his teaching... method: "Are you forcing the body, or influencing the soul? To me, the soul is made up of the mind, the will and the emotions, and this is the inner part of the horse. Focusing on these three areas is what I call the training trifecta: temperament, foundation, and task completion. The temperament correlates with emotion, which is primarily based on fear or confidence. The mind correlates with the foundation, which is focused on teaching and having the horse understand how to move its body through the maneuvers of a reined cow horse foundation. The task completion component is tied to the horse’s will, where he knows his job and I can give the horse his head and allow him to do it." Watch Wade Black compete at Road to the Horse 2021.

03.01.2022 My... how time flies! Good times have a habit of doing that.. There are times to learn and absorb, as opportunity arises. There are times that we come to a real...isation that we have so many gaps in our knowledge. There are times for us to step outside our comfort zones and seek out those who can teach us more. And there are times to feel thankful and humbled by their ability to help us find the answers... #horsemanship #askingquestions #openthemind #funtimes

02.01.2022 Started my new training pen project on the 1st of november last year and have finished it on the 5th of feb this year. took some time in between work but great to have it done and have a flat place to ride with sand.

02.01.2022 First of all: it stopped raining!! Kalypso's journey: a few days on... With the honeymoon over and Kalypso's bite wounds healed, only 1 big leader (Nadal) was t...urned back into the herd, and the natural order of things continues. The unruly wife's hormone cycle changed and she became an obliging herd member again and is staying with the herd where she is supposed to be. The young Metallic Prince is standing at some distance away, humble and respectfully now, watching the herd and waiting for permission and invitation from the Big Leader to join them. This gives a much better outlook for a positive outcome than pretending to still be a stallion and steal the girl away. His Lucky Charm, the Willy Wagtail bird, is still by his side, so all will be fine. New horses have to earn acceptance in a herd by showing respect. One must start humble at the bottom in order to climb the ladder. We will leave it like this for a few days to settle and then bring the Great White Shark back in to hopefully have a successful completion of the lengthy process of safe herd integration. Will the newly-weds be able to settle into herd life as a happy couple? The fate of their love will depend on the Big Leaders decision and herd voting. But more so: will their love survive this test of separation time. Find out later!! To be continue See more

01.01.2022 Ray shows us what he means when he says to have the horses feet.. Of course Ray never needed to rope a foot to have the horses feet, but this can help get the feel.

01.01.2022 Horse Training is a replacement concept. Whatever the horse is doing I’m not trying to correct that problem, I’m replacing it with something I want the horse ...to do. I’m not trying to correct or tell him that was wrong, I’m trying to replace what he’s doing with something I’d like him to do. The better of an attitude I can have about it, the easier the training will get. #certificationclass2020 #horsetrainingcareers #joshlyons #classtime #WednesdayWisdom

01.01.2022 Had the pleasure to ride these to fantastic brumbies again. Thanks Erica Jessup and Kate Young for the great classes.
