25.01.2022 Something you may not know about Tara Performance Horses is that we rehabilitate a number of horses (from neglect, injury, and disorders) whom often don’t make our page. This little mare has come into our care it’s a case of laminitis in which we are closely with a team of vets (our amazing sponsors Carbrook Veterinary Services) and farriers. Laminitis is a complex cascade of events that causes the soft tissues (laminae) within the hoof to swell, weaken and die. In severe c...ases it is likely to leave behind a permanent reminder: founder, which is an internal deformity of the hoof occurring when the supporting laminae loosens it grip and allows the pedal bone to rotate downwards. Once diagnosed these horses need to be placed on a strict and on going management plan which will limit their pasture time and feed options (avoid high sugar and starch feeds including spring time pasture). Please note the importance of still feeding your horse during this time as often people will place horses on ‘starvation rations’. There are a number of laminitic feeds available to purchased which need to be fed in conjunction with specific types of roughage. P.s. she is not sweating in this picture she has just had a bath then rolled (sometimes I wonder why I bother bathing them)

24.01.2022 For Sale: Tara’s Rosalee Purebred Arabian Filly, Born bay going grey (very quickly under her winter coat), 8 months old should mature around 15.2hh. I originally bred this filly for my self to ride but a change of direction means she is now available to a good home. Essentially a blank canvas, who carries the lines of many successful show horses (breeding in pics) she will make a lovely horse in any discipline. Currently in winter woolies and priced at $2,500. If not sold she will be halter trained and shown which will reflect in price increase.

24.01.2022 10 years ago I was awarded the State Junior Volunteer of the year award from RDAQ. Their vision of developing abilities and enriching lives of people with disabilities is something that I have been lucky enough to witness first hand. I would encourage anyone with some spare time to look into volunteering at their local centre.

16.01.2022 Exciting news with our first 15 day preg test for the season. G.T. Oprah x Kaidence Dark Ballet MA. This Arabian Warmblood foal will carry the warmblood lines of Jazz/ Cocktail/ Aktion/ Lander/ Contender/ Calypso II/ Winterkoeing mixed in with some Polish Arabian!

Step 3 Regular visits from Carbrook Veterinary Services (last picture shows a tooth Dr John Chopin removed last dental check up). Step 4. Be the only horse that is allowed in the house yard (it has sprinklers and green grass)!

12.01.2022 As we hit 150 likes last night it is time to draw our FREE Equissage Session. Interesting Fact: The Lymphatic System which removes waste and supports the immune system helping fight disease has no pump! Equissage plays a vital role in improving the Lymphatic system by acting as the pump involving lymphatic drainage. Congratulations to the lucky winner Cate Puschmann!

I would like to thank all the clients (many who are more like family now) I saw last weekend in the Fraser Coast, I had fantastic 3 days consisting of a number of lessons and equissages! Pictured below is Benji of Hervey Bay RDA enjoying a donated Equissage treatment. Looking at doing another trip in the next 5-6 weeks tentative appointments already filling fast.

Fun fact: I actually started Roxy under saddle a number of years ago! There is no greater satisfaction than watching a horse that I have started progress with their riders. A huge thank you to everyone who booked in and made it such a great weekend

04.01.2022 A very exciting time at Tara Performance Horses! Today I left home with an empty float to pick up the lovely G.T. Oprah (chestnut) a mare I have been watching for the last 4 years on a breeding lease. Skip forward a few hours and am now also the new very excited owner of N.B. Chirazz (brown)! Both girls are now with the amazing Dr John Chopin (equine reproduction specialist) of Carbrook Veterinary Services being inseminated to our very own Kaidence Dark Ballet MA. Further excitement as Terri will be breeding Belle J’adore (Tara’s Kryptoniums dam) back to Kaidence Dark Ballet MA this season for herself. I already can’t wait to see the arrival of these 2021 foals!!!! If interested in using Kaidence Dark Ballet MA send me a message to secure your semen as he has now been gelded.

01.01.2022 A little late but this is the 32 day scan of G.T. Oprah’s fetus!

01.01.2022 Exciting times, Garry wore his very first saddle today! It’s at this stage the ground work and handling put into young horses really shows. Garry accepted the saddle and lunged very relaxed, it was as if it wasn’t there (see minimal contact on lead, loose flowing tail, relaxed posture and even tracking).
