25.01.2022 October is Mental Health Month, a time to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. This years theme is ‘tune in’ which is about being present and tuning in to yourself and the people around you. You can find resources here https://mentalhealthmonth.wayahead.org.au/

24.01.2022 Residents from the Drummoyne area came to the NSW Parliament this week to present a petition calling for Howley Park East to be restored and returned to the local communty. As Shadow Minister for Crown Lands, I was pleased to table the petition in the Parliament on their behalf. We need to protect our public spaces.

22.01.2022 This is devastating. Our kids deserve better and they need our support. I’ve been calling for more school counsellors/mental health experts in schools since last year. It’s time the Government delivered this much needed and promised support. If you need support please call Lifeline 13 11 14

22.01.2022 Thanks to the Central Coast Council of P&C’s for supporting NSW Labor’s call for more counsellors in schools. Coast Community News

19.01.2022 Great to visit Cooma last week with the NSW Labor Leader. We met with some fantastic people, including hospital workers/delegates from HSU NSW at Cooma Hospital, the team from Cooma Multicultural Centre and members of the local Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW. Thanks to Mark at P.D. Murphy Cafe for the great coffee... much needed after a big week in Parliament.

18.01.2022 No one should ever have to wait over 100 hours in emergency. Mental health care needs to be better resourced in NSW. Support needs to be available when people need it. Daily Telegraph If you need support call lifeline 13 11 14

16.01.2022 It’s Perinatal Mental Health Week (8-14 November 2020) This year the theme is ‘we’re here, we’re listening and it’s chance to raise awareness of perinatal mental health, and support those expectant and new parents experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety. 1 in 5 new mums and 1 in 10 new dads will experience perinatal depression and anxiety... 16.01.2022 Here's some of what I had to say in the NSW Parliament this week about mental health and youth suicide in NSW. More support is needed. Lifeline 13 11 14

14.01.2022 Great to host another NSW Labor policy webinar last night. This week we covered the crisis in aged care. Thanks to Shadow Minister for Ageing and Seniors Julie Collins MP, the HSU NSW and those who joined and shared their experience of the system.

12.01.2022 My comments in the Guardian Australia : Today’s announcement falls short and misses the mark. The responsibility shouldn’t fall on teachers. The government must provide the additional resources in schools it promised. Mental health training for teachers is a step in the right direction, but more resources are needed in addition to teacher training.

07.01.2022 I joined my colleague Kate Washington MP in Port Stephens today, to host a mental health forum with people working to support the mental health needs of their local community. The best thing about these forums is meeting so many passionate and inspiring people who are trying to make a difference in the lives of people in their communities. But they are stretched to the limit and urgently need more support.

07.01.2022 Thanks to Harry Watson Smith of the Batemans Bay Boaters Association and Max Castle of the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW for showing me around Batemans Bay Marina and foreshore this week and for raising local concerns about this important piece of Crown Land. We have to protect our public spaces.

05.01.2022 "People talked about an increase in issues among young people and they are seeing these issues come up in younger age groups which is actually quite concerning."

03.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day and I’m calling for additional mental health resources across NSW. Many people are doing it tough this year due to the pandemic, bushfires and drought. This day of action reminds us to reach out and have a conversation about our mental health and well-being. ... But we also need to ensure that when people reach out for support, they can get it. That means more resources and services are needed. If you need help, call Lifeline 13 11 14
